How do I change my printer settings on a Mac?
There are many different printer settings to choose from, but with just a few simple steps, you can make your desired changes on your Mac in no time. So if you want to change your Macbook printer settings, follow these five simple steps, and you'll be well on your way.
Step 1. Turn on your Printer
Please turn on your printer and wait for it to connect to your Mac via wifi or ethernet cable. The Printer Name should appear on your Mac's Printers & Scanners menu in the Print & Scan system preferences pane.
Step 2. Open System Preferences
Go to Finder > Applications > Utilities, and open Print & Scan o. Next, click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, click System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
Step 3. Select Printers
Click the Select Printer button to list all available printers on your system. Choose the desired printer from the list and click Done.
Now, Update Printer Settings, click the Update Printer Settings button and make any changes necessary, such as adding drivers or changing printer types. Be careful not to set printing preferences that would conflict with other applications running simultaneously.
Step 4 - Select the Printer that you want to set up
To make it even easier, start typing the name of the printer you wish to into the box at the top left when changing the Macbook printer settings. You should see a list of printers appear below, and when you find the one you're looking for, click it.
Unfortunately, not all printers are listed, so if you can't find yours, then follow these steps:
Select Add Printer or Scanner from the Utilities drop-down menu (top row, second from right).
Click Print & Fax.
Now click Add Printer.
Select the connection type (Ethernet or wifi).
Choose the appropriate printer from the models that appear.
Type in a name for your new printer and select Done. Your unknown printer is now ready to use.
Step 5 - Click Show Details
The Show Details window should open automatically if you click the driver update button. If not, you can find it under Printer & Scanners from the System Preferences app. Once it opens, make any changes necessary for your specific printer. Remember that most of these are self-explanatory.
For example, clicking Change Settings next to Paper Size will allow you to select what size paper your printer can print on by default.
Step 6- Change the Print Setting for Black and White
Click Edit Printer Properties from the Print menu
Click the Colors tab.
Scroll down and click Grayscale.
Click Change Default Color Mode.
Close the dialogue box and click Save as New Default Settings at the bottom of the window.
You will be prompted for administrator privileges if you are not logged in with an account with administrative rights; enter your password if necessary.
If you want all documents opened after this point to print in Grayscale, select Apply Changes To All Documents Opened From Now On. If you wish this setting only applied to one document, choose Apply Changes To Document, Then Quit, then save the document before quitting. This will change Macbook printer settings.
