Booyah!
No more co-op in Boss Fights!
I have sinned!
Ever since I realized how casual things can get when playing co-op, whether it is that I‘m joining another players game to farm blood echoes or the other way round.
I’ve almost never played solo anymore, however only now I start realizing the negative effects of Co-op.
So the normal loop I go through when playing solo is the following.
I get into a new level and die, I get frustrated and die more often.
I slowly start cursing my life and the game, but then I reach the boss arena and get excited, enter the boss fight....and die again.
Rinse and repeat.
However all the negative experience, all the frustration and hate immediately vanishes into thin air once I manage to perform the finishing strike on the boss.
Not only that but there‘s also that gigantic feeling of accomplishment, the joy and euphoria that lasts for the next few minutes until I start dying again and the cycle starts from the beginning.
Now with co-op things are different.
I still die and get frustrated, die again and start hating the game.
However beating the bosses in co-op is no longer a challenge, so instead of feeling accomplished there‘s just this meh feeling after beating a boss.
Only now I realize that only when beating the bosses on my own I can have that euphoria, that new energy for the next level and all, which I‘m just missing out entirely when playing co-op.
That why I determined to beat bosses on my own from now on. No more co-op, at least until I start my first ng+!
What are your experiences with co-op?
I feel like co-op should get a lot more changes.
I realized that any boss would just attack one co-operator at a time leaving the other one to do what ever he wants.
So my idea would be that with every additional co-operator the boss also get an additional moveset (a new AoE attack, or a new range attack, etc.) so Co-op becomes less of an exploit and more of an option where you have to gauge really well if you would want the additional challenge or not.
What do you think?
It‘s always the same...
Who is the real first boss
Vicar Amelia. Father Gascoigne or the blood starved beast.
So this just happened...😂
So ever since I accidentally attacked Valtr he would just remain hostile and attempt to kill me everytime I tried using the elevator.
So this time I just sprinted past him and immediately got into the elevator and well...
Vicar Amelia - Boss Fight Review
The boss fight against the Vicar was my first serious obstactle I actually struggled getting past.
Of course neither Gascoigne nor the blood-starved beast were easy.
However the significant difference was that both of the bosses allowed me to stay within my comfort zone which consisted of locking onto the target and spamming parries whenever possible.
The Vicar‘s move set however seemed to perfectly counter my attack and defense patterns, leaving me terribly exposed to her attacks and ultimately pushing me out of my comfort zone resulting in a steep learning curve which helped me rethink my playstyle and eventually allowed me to improve as a player!
The Vicar‘s attack set is the most versatile in the game - at least so far.
It consists of a defensive range attack (a whirl wind caused by her slamming against the ground), a offensive range attack (she leaps forward to close a large distance between you and her) as well as several offensive close-range attacks, that will always keep you on your toes while attacking her.
Her most unique ability allows her to heal over a short period of time restoring about 20% of her health if not interrupted.
I realized very soon that my usual strategy of playing passive, parrying attacks and going for the visceral won‘t work here, simply because her massive strength denies any parry attempts.
For the first time I learned that locking onto the target horribly limits your mobility, which in this case often ends in fatal errors.
The following attempts to fight the Vicar without the lock-on-target helped me understand a lot more about my own move set, than ever before!
In the end I realized that with every attempt of beating the vicar I improved as a player as well.
As a example I used to struggle a lot with the church giants before, however once I learned to approach a combat without locking on the enemies I seemed to be alot better at beating the church giants as well!
As for strategy I once again stocked up on fire paper and molotovs.
The secret to success seemed to be to attack from behind, although she could counter with a quick turnaround, in which case you should take to your heels and roll out of her range of attacks.
All that of course is only possible when NOT being locked on target so this is absolutely a must for this fight.
Her healing technically can be countered by an item called numbing mist, however I was really sad to see that once again molotovs worked far to well.
Not only do they interrupt the healing animation, but they deal damage on top which really made it to easy to punish her.
In the end the vicar is a state of the art boss, which I‘d really hope to see more of in the future.
I‘d like to move away from ranking her difficulty here, of course she was terribly difficult to beat, but what counts far more for me here is the fact that the vicar was the only boss that taught me how to get better in Bloodborne and I’m confident that the lessons I learned from her will help me with the next bosses to come.
Therefore I‘d rate her 9.5/10.
I‘d be a 10/10 but the fact that molotovs once again works far to well, although there was a unique item that appeared to be added just for this boss fight, makes no sense and is really unfortunate.
(This doggo nailed the Vicar Amelia cosplay☝🏻😅)

Blood-starved Beast - Boss Fight Review
So after defeating Gascoigne I proceeded to the one boss fight that I‘ve prepared myself the most for.
A fun fact besides the gameplay of a guy dying infinitely to the blood-starved beast was what for some reason got me into this game, so I kinda already knew it‘s gonna be tough.
Funnily enough 50% of the difficulty of that boss fight was to actually get there in the first place because next to all the werewolfs and other deadly beasts you met on the way to the arena, there was that guy named Djura, a forsaken hunter that camped on top of a clock tower with a gatlin gun instantly shooting you the second you dared stepping away from your cover.
I was almost giving up when I realized there was actually a short cut that allowed you to avoid his gatlin fire as well as skip 50% of the way to the arena. Wow!
The actual fight with the beast was quite decent.
Antidotes to counter its poison are a most have but as for all "true beasts" molotovs as well as fire paper were what made the clear difference.
In the end it comes down to your dodging skills because their attacks are brutal if not dodged properly.
After all there was one attack you could pary and that almost worked to easily - at least for me.
I‘d give the fight a 6/10 because after all the effort it wasn‘t really any harder than killing Gascoigne.
The arena was once again really well-structured.
Pretty simple kept with a straight hallway with several columns at each side incase you need to seek cover. I‘d give it a 9/10 as well!
Defeated my first boss!
I‘d give it a 3/10 rating for difficulty. The Cleric beasts attacks were pretty straight forward and predictable, however on the first attempt I got crushed by that one special attack where the beast would smash you against the floor several times, which was pretty painful.
The better thing about that boss was the location!
You‘d imagine a boss fight would take place in a arena, but not so with this boss. The bridge where the fight takes place on is very narrow so there is not always an opportunity to get past the beast, which could end up in a situation where you‘re helplessly cornered on one side of the bridge.
I‘d give the location a 7/10 rating!
Father Gascoigne: Boss Fight Review
So after the first boss fight turned out to be fairly easy, I‘ve waited in full anticipation for the second one and it absolutely exceeded any of my expectations.
Father Gascoigne used to be a hunter, just like you, so he not only fights with similar equipment like yours but also has a similar combat style consisting of a combination of rolls, sweapon swings and fire arm shots and that‘s basically all he does during stage one!
Once at 50% HP he‘ll swap his right hand weapon to a larger axe giving his attacks a lot more range.
Although stage two had me dying once as I wasn‘t prepared for his new combos combined with his increased range from his axe the true agony did not begin before stage three!
Once at 25% HP he reveals his true form and turns into a dreadful werewolf.
Everything you thought to know about that boss, his moves, combos and attack patterns was now worth nothing.
I think I died three times the second stage 3 initiated because once in werewolf form Father Gascoigne will launch a fatal jump attack combo that is basically an insta death for you unless dodged intime which really is anything but easy.
All the frustration of fighting the beast form of Father Gascoigne was - as it turned out - evitable, with the help of a music box, which sound would stun him long enough to clear out at least one quarter of his health, so in the end the fight was stupidly easy.
If the music box didn‘t exist I‘d easily give it a 9/10 in terms of difficulty as well as enjoyment of the fight, but in the end the music box made the fight in the final stage feel like a trip so I give it a 6/10.
Also the boss arena, a spooky graveyard was probably the best one in the game.
In stage one you could always hide behind gravestones to dodge fire arm as well as weapon damage, in stage two his axe could crush the grave stones so while hiding behind them was still possible it didn’t provide the same amount of safety as in stage one and finally in stage three the werewolf would just smash any gravestones when walking over it, so you basically had to look into completely new way to dodge his attacks.
Definitely a really well thought-out arena, I‘d give it a 9/10
Give this man some love pls

What should I do with my Blood Echoes?
So I‘m currently in full process of gitting gut.
I’ve bought the first and so far only set of armor that is in the shop and now the question I have is what do I do with my blood echoes, because there isn‘t really anything I can spend them on and I just keep loosing them to random foes that kill me.
Should I spend them on consumables, although I already enough of those, maybe store them in the chest?
Or should I just try to not loose them and wait until the next armor/ weapon appears in the shop?
When and how does armor and weapons appear in the shop anyway? Is it just a matter of time or do I need to progress to a certain safe point before unlocking new equipment?
Elemental (Arcane) Build or Strength/Skill Build
So I know that the stats of weapons with pure Strength/Skill builds go higher than in Elemental when converting weapon damage. But most Mobs and Bosses do have their specific Elemental weakness (except for Logarius ._. ).

Custom Hunter Rune
Those branded by the lost, are considered beyond reasoning, driven mad by thought that they've been forgotten. Any and all hunters using this caryll rune are considered enemies to all other hunters whether they allied or sinister hunters. There only moral is to kill to create a name that will be remembered.
