Top 10 Maps for Team Deathmatch in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Much like certain athletes tend to have their favorite stadiums or arenas to play in, so goes the story as well for multiplayer gamers. A map can be your greatest ally or your biggest weakness depending on your playstyle. Certain maps have choke points that you need to master to be successful and others encourage certain styles of play that you may not be used to, forcing you to adapt your loadout or mentality to be successful. Then there are those maps that just suck your soul out and make you contemplate quitting and reconnecting. Here are my top 10 maps for Team deathmatch in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
10. Shipment-
Okay before you have me checked into a mental hospital for this take hear me out. This is an adrenaline kick to the face. The map equivalent of a John Wick movie. Sure, not a ton of depth but the action is non stop and leaves you exhilarated. Strategy doesn’t really exist here and it’s more about who has the biggest gun with the most clips. It’s arcade madness and it’s a refreshing and if you hate It, it only lasts around 2-5 minutes tops since the area of play forces a quickly mounting death count.
9. Azhir Cave-
I’ll admit this one drove me a bit insane at first. It’s close quarters until it’s not, it’s a battle in a dark cave until the spawns take you outside. I slowly began appreciating the variety in this level and once you learn the most populated parts of the map, you can learn to puppet master this clever little layout. The keys here are to remain inside and rack up the killstreaks, then once the enemy starts spawning outside
It’s also aesthetically different from almost every other map which is a nice change of pace from the industrial cities and whatnot.
8. Gun Runner-
I’m a big fan of this map for one reason. The trainyard. The number of intense firefights I’ve had go down in this area insane and whether it’s players hiding in the trains, lying next to them, jumping on top of them, and sniping, this place is just a free for all and it’s fantastic. The warehouses and various little cargo areas provide some fun moments as well and the layout is great and forces you to explore.
7. Rust-
This map is on the same level as shipment, but with a cleverer layout and slightly more ability to take cover. If you’re looking to work on your close-range combat, this is the place to do it. Although there is a tower for long-range shooting, the bulk of the combat happens on the ground and its’ extremely tight quarters for most of the game despite some open spaces. The cargo boxes get filled up in a hurry and there is nowhere to run. Face your enemy and hope your aim is true because it’s highly likely their teammate is creeping up right behind you.
6. St. Petrograd-
Now we’re getting to the good stuff. St. Petrograd accommodates all playstyles, which is something that most maps do not. If you’re a sniper? The buses and roofs located on either side of the map provide some great cover and sniping spots that give you a huge view of the area. Close range guns are your thing? Have no fear, the cramped areas between the buses and the numerous apartment buildings as well as the pool hall will keep you happy. Are you a thermal user? Throw some smoke grenades into the middle of the map, take aim and start lighting up the fireflies like it’s fourth of July. St. Petrograd is masterful multiplayer level design and its' only flaw is the limited size.
5. Vacant-
Close quarters, without being too in your face, vacant asks you to be as quick to aim as you are to shoot as the myriad of hallways converge in several points leading to some intense encounters. Balancing this indoor dance of death is an outdoor area littered with places to hide and a garage area that always seems to be a spot for campers to make their home. If you like claymores and proximity mines, this is the place to use them as you will quickly rack up tons of kills just dropping them at random corners in the map. There is a good amount of strategy needed to succeed here as you need to use the audio cues to hear footsteps coming int his map more than any other.
4. Hackney Yard-
Simple, but effective. The Hackney yard is a smallish map that’s filled with places to hide and areas to employ several different play styles. The various rooftops provide some solid sniping areas and the indoor warehouses are just begging a light machine gun user to wreak havoc as well. The spawn points constantly switch you from one side of the map to the other too so campers will be unable to stay put for long. Air Strikes and Cluster Strikes tend to be an absolute game-changer here as the firefights are often so close to each other that you can take out an entire team if you time them right.
3. Atlas Superstore-
Possibly my favorite level, the Atlas Superstore gets rid of most airborne killstreaks and asks you aim to be sharp and your eyes to be sharper. The Labyrinth of Atlas Superstore has plenty for snipers, shotgun users, and a long-range assault rifle users alike. There are several different elevated areas and there’s plenty of opportunity to take down campers because no area is fully fortified. The various offices and alcoves provide temporary cover for you but the bulk of the action takes place in the middle where assorted boxes and crates are your only friend. Atlas Superstore stars in Warzone as well and becomes one of the most dangerous and exciting locations on the map.
2. Rammaza-
A change of pace from the somewhat repetitive cityscapes, Rammaza takes you to a desert city with the bright sun illuminating the soon be bloodied streets of your battle. The sheer variety of areas in Rammaza is just fantastic to weave your way through. Ladders lead to war-torn rooftops and alleyways give way to wide-open areas with several cars and broken-down buildings hide in or escape. Killstreaks become key here and a well-placed airstrike can quickly shift the game in your favor and no place is ever too safe as many different areas have several points of entry you need to be wary of. This is one of those maps that doesn’t get old no matter how many times you play it.
1.Picadilly-
I think the best part of Picadilly is it doesn’t feel like a Call of Duty map. It’s claustrophobic, it’s nerve-wracking and it’s dark. The buses set up in the middle of the map allow for some clever strategy and also become ripe for claymores and proximity mines alike. The scaffolding areas give you a huge view of the area and is prime for picking up some long shot opportunities. If the middle of the map gets too crazy for you, you can retreat to the various shopping mall areas that have tons of areas to blend in with and wait for an unsuspecting enemy wandering through. There are also long stretches of city blocks to maneuver in and out of and the variety for gameplay styles mixed with the great aesthetic here makes Picadilly the cream of the crop.

Unique strategies to survive Warzone
So, we’re a couple months into the phenom that is Call of Duty: Warzone, and people still are searching for the best strategies to survive. The best part of the game is there is no one way to win. You can take several routes to victory and things get even more fun and creative when you add teammates in. Here are some strategies to get through the Warzone alive.
Sniper city
This one requires a bunch of teammates who all excel in sniping, but if done right, you can make an entire area of the map your personal sniping hell. How this works is you start by getting enough money to get a loadout and have all teammates equip sniper rifles and have claymores in your equipment. Then, find a street with a lot of rooftops, preferably ones that have only one entrance and exit. Once you’re ready to go, try and set up in adjacent buildings. Once you’re all in place, place claymores near the ladder or doorways that lead to your personal sniper perch. From there, have 2-3 teammates scout the streets while the other switches from the streets to checking the sky for people landing on the roofs looking for a quick sneak attack. This is an amazing endgame strategy when the circle is closing quick and people are scurrying to get to the high ground. If you and your team are up to snuff on your sniping, this method can be devastating.
The Money Mule
This one is risky, but with big rewards. The base concept revolves around one player going around activating and completing as many scavenger missions as they can and completing them. On the other side, the rest of the teammates complete as many recons as they can, and when enough money is accumulated, you should have a fully equipped team with a fast track to possibly the final circle of the map! Ideally, you want your most skilled player to be the scavenger hunter, while the others go on the recon missions. This can be a lengthy mission as you're unable to do two missions at once, so while one team is completing a mission, the other should be scavenging houses and making their way to the next recon or scavenger icon. It’s a high-risk maneuver for sure, but when you’re fully stocked with gas masks, UAV’s airstrikes, self-revives and armor, you’ll be ready to for the risk.
Play dead
This one is hilarious and brilliant at the same time. Generally saved for desperation scenarios at the end of games, the play dead approach is usually best with a decent amount of equipment already on you. What you do is drop all of your equipment in the middle of wherever the circle is and then go prone and don’t move. A giant pile of shiny equipment is usually a big-time lure for players who are jumping back in from the gulag and if your lure catches, then you just have to pop up from your fake grave and run over for a quick one hit kill while unarmed. One thing to make sure of is that you have ghost perk equipped. This leaves you invisible on UAV’s and heartbeat sensors of any kind and can be the extra touch needed at the very game to play the most devious of tricks on an unsuspecting player.
Team Rocket
This one is identical to the sniping strategy, just with rockets. Ideally, you’ll have some players with RPG’s and others with vehicle locking rocket launchers. Equip claymores from your loadout as well as ghost and head to the rooftops, vehicles are generally all over the city areas so you’ll likely have an explosive shooting gallery on anyone who tries to get down the streets you’re scouting. The issue with this strategy is if someone drops from behind you, a rocket launcher will likely blow you both to hell, kind of defeating the purpose of the choke point you’ve created.
Bunker Down
So, for this strategy to work, you need to get a little bit lucky. Before the match, consult this little map right here
These are all of the locations of the bunkers on Verdansk. Using this, collect several recon missions and narrow down the final circle. Then consult this map and figure out where the bunkers are. There are plenty throughout the map so your chances of having one in the final few circles aren’t too bad. The best part of these bunkers is they only have one entrance and exit. The ladder entryway also makes it near impossible for you to lose a firefight if a team tries to take you down in one. The negative is you’ll likely have to move out at some point, so some players might just camp in front of the exit waiting for you to walk out.
