The best places to make home in Call of Duty: Warzone
As Call of Duty: Warzone continues its’ surge of popularity, many are jumping in to the game for the first time. Many of these people have never played a Call of Duty game before or at least not played a Battle Royale game. With Warzone, we have one of the most unique maps in the genre for one particular reason. The map is gargantuan. I’ve played around 50+ games I assume and I still have yet to see every area the map has to offer. The variety is astounding from prison castles to dams to expansive city areas and then boondocks woodland ones. So where should you go? Where should you stay away from?
Where to go
As soon as I’m in the plane ready to jump, I always set my sights on a few particular areas.
Bloc 23, Bloc 18 and Bloc 15
The great thing about the Blocs is they all have little shacks and houses strewn about throughout them. This makes for an easy place to hunker down. The best feature these houses have is that they’re mostly two floors and that lets you create a solid defense system of claymores, C4’s and whatever else you may find on your way there. The negatives to these areas is they don’t seem to ever have that prime equipment you’re looking for. I find a lot of basic LMG’s here and a ton of body armor but again, for those who like to play the waiting game, great equipment isn’t always needed.
Prison Complex
While it’s located on the very bottom right of the map and not always easily accessible depending on where the circle drops, the Prison Complex is not only one of the best places to make your home but also one of coolest looking structures on Verdansk. A massive, sprawling layout awaits you and on the inside there is nothing but goodies. I’m talking blue, purple and orange level items awaiting inside if you traverse the seemingly never ending levels of prison cells. At the top of the structure you’ll find a helipad and a ton of places to hide out as well and if you’re good enough, the top of the tower gives a wide view of the bottom 1/4th of the map for some prime sniping. This is a great spot to start every round just because of the enormous amount of prime weapons and equipment you can find here. Even if the circle starts all the way on the other side of the map, there are several vehicles to get you there no problem.
The Police Station
Located on the west side of the map, this is more of a building than a full area but whatever, it’s a good one. The reason the Police Station is a great point to make home on the map is because it has very little weakness to it. You have a multi floor building with a roof that gives full view of anyone approaching from the city or even driving by on the west highway. This being a Police Station, it usually comes pretty well stacked with weapons and ammo as well. I still can’t tell if the drops are random but I tend to have great luck when landing here. The go to move here is to have one player on the roof, one on the second floor and one on the first. Everyone arming the doors with some kind of explosive and have the player on the roof facing behind the building towards the mountains. Why you ask? Because those mountains are high enough to get a vantage point to shoot at you on the roof and that’ll ruin my little plan I described. That’s the true weakness to this building is the back area so make sure you’ve got someone who’s a skilled sniper watching your back. At the very least, he can alert your team of incoming trouble.
Where to stay away from
Verdansk stadium
Man, this place just sucks. A massive sports stadium on the eastern side of the map, Verdansk Stadium is absolute hell to navigate and one of the worst places you can hunker down once inside the circle. With numerous tents set up outside and an enormous area of open space on the outside, I see no real benefit to hanging around this area if you don’t have to. The weapons you can pick up there are pretty decent but the time it takes to traverse the whole thing to find a perfect setup is more time than you can afford to lose in this game type.
BCH TV station
Can you say giant see through windows? The TV station sure as hell can and despite having a bit of an elevated plateau to be located on, there is nothing good about making base here. This is the area to make your home if you like pain, suffering and constant anxiety. The lobby is a nightmare of wide open space with nothing much to hide behind except a front desk. The station itself is open on all ends and if you and your team plan on staying there, get ready to be annihilated.
Verdansk International Airport
This place is like sending out a PSA saying “Snipe me please!”. Whenever the circle starts to settle around this area I just feel dread because there’s nowhere to run. As you’d imagine, this area is packed with large hangers and tons of wide open space. Right behind it is Bloc 16 which is a much better location to hideout but if you’re stuck in this airport because of a stubborn teammate or the circle dictated it? Good luck. If you get put in this predicament, hide in the hangers and call a loadout drop to the middle of the airway, at least this way you will see who is coming.
I’m no expert, but if there’s one thing I’m good at in Warzone it’s finding a place to hide (as boring as that can be) if you’re planning on gathering some good stuff and waiting for your moment to strike, hopefully my tips will help.

What’s the deal with those closed off Bunker doors in Call of Duty: Warzone?
I love a good mystery and fortunately, Activision has added quite the intriguing one in Call of Duty: Warzone’s closed off bunkers, phones, computer and passwords. What does it all mean? It is true that COD: Warzone isn't the first battle royale with vaults, but games like Fortnite and Apex Legends are "out there" in a way that COD isn't. This makes the question "What's in the vault" a particularly interesting one to Warzone’s players. How out there can Activision get with these reveals? I have a few theories, so get your pass codes ready.
An island spanning attack
When you think bunker, you usually think some kind of missile was launched and that’s the place you’re going to hide. Here, it’s a possibility that’s exactly what the bunkers are for. What if in similar fashion to how Fortnite destroyed its’ map, Warzone had some kind of extermination protocol go into effect and the whole map gets completely leveled, warping it into a Fallout style wasteland instead of the rather pristine island Verdansk currently is? The bunkers could all be interconnected adding an amazing tunnel sort of civilization there that gives the map even more variety in its’ areas.
Extermination Squads
I was hoping this would have been how Warzone used its’ circles, but maybe Activision was saving it for some sort of second season event. What I’m talking about is having a force of expertly armed soldiers appear from these bunkers to carry out an island wide genocide. Perhaps they’ve been brought in to get rid of any possible leftovers from the poisonous gas that gets spread as the match time dwindles. This would add a fascinating twist to Warzone as you could use these squads to your advantage by leading enemies to them at the opportune time, creating chaos for you and your teammates to either escape or take them out. I’m picturing these soldiers to be decked out in serious armor, some wielding the miniguns the Juggernaut has in Call of Duty: Modern warfare and others with top of the line gear as well. Ideally, they would fan out all over the map; let’s say about 20 of them and if you manage to kill them they drop Legendary level weapons as well as an advanced version of the normal body armor. This would add so much to the game and be relatively easy to implement for the developers.
Loot, not the kind you’re thinking
If those doors open and all I find are some great guns and armor, I’m going to be disappointed. I want those doors to open and see classified equipment that I wasn’t supposed to see. I’m talking about alien/other dimensional type weapons. I want lasers, I want weapons that shoot acid, black holes, displace mountains I don’t care, just make it worth finding these damn codes. It would be a great reward for finding code numbers throughout the map and properly putting a password in to get some absolutely out of this world (literally) items. How about a weapon that causes poisoning? A bow and arrow that shoots plasma arrows? And here’s an absolutely wild thought, how about there’s a helmet in there as well!? It’s truly amazing how no helmet exists in this game, it’s one of its’ only flaws.
Zombies/Monsters of some kind
BRING IT.
The Island of Verdansk is actually a loose recreation of Chernobyl right down to some of the landmarks there. Now it may be slightly out of left field for Activision to add this in, but what if the correct password input releases some kind of monster/zombie horde. Why would you want to have a password for a door like that? That’s a great question I don’t have an answer to, but it would make for a nice addition to the Battle Royale formula. I love the idea of adding AI enemies to the already intense 150 man affair that Warzone has and I feel like depending on what they decided to go with, each match could play out in a different way.
The circle could be morphed into just a zombie horde that starts to close in on you or conversely, some kind of predatory creature that could kill you near instantly could appear as well, maybe some kind of terrifying, mutated lizard. Plenty of games have used Chernobyl type areas to create some truly twisted creatures and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Warzone takes place on similar ground.
An entryway to another part of the map or dimension
Might be grasping at straws here, but what if the bunkers don’t release anything and instead provide us with an escape? At this point you need more than just one map to have a great Battle Royale (at least I think so), so maybe these bunkers lead to an underground and underwater tunnel system that takes us to another island or may just the mainland? It could just be a tunnel system linking parts of the maps together, and that would be rather boring. I think there’s more to it. Maybe the bunkers lead to a whole other world? Maybe we’re about to have Warzone go all Lost on us and realize the Island is a kind of purgatory and we’re just fighting to get to the other side? That would be depressing, but still cool!
I believe a story is being built within the scenery of Verdansk. The crashed planes, the locked stadium, the cities in perfect condition for the most part. Something happened here, but what could it be? Some kind of plague? An experimental society that went wrong when one of the citizens discovered the truth and decided to fight back? What about the mission dispatcher? Who is he and what kind of stupid ass mission gives us a pistol and nothing else to survive? Where there’s smoke, there’s fire and I think Activision is crafting quite the tale behind closed doors.

In the third installment of the original Modern Warfare series, MW3, players could relive certain events of MW1 and MW2 through the eyes of Yuri, uncovering intresting details that the players didn’t know back then.
Most famously MW3 featured Yuri’s POV of MW’s infamous 'All Ghillied Up' mission unveiling that both Makarov and Yuri were with Zakhaev in Prvpyat. However it wasn’t until Modern Warfare Remastered, that this detail was added into the game and players could do both shoot Zakhaev and Makarov (for a little 'Time Traveler' Trophy)
Now with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered players could do similar, with the knowledge of Yuri’s last flashback in MW3.
Did you know that in MW2 remastered’s "No Russian" Mission you can actually find Yuri in Zakhaev International Airport?
As we all know Yuri witnessed the massacre in the Airport with his own eyes. In his last moments of consciousness he dragged himself out of the elevator and attempted to shoot Pvt. Allen and the group around Makarov.
In order to find Yuri in MW2 remastered follow Makarov through the X-Ray scanners and head up the stairs, once up there turn around and head back to the scanners and you’ll find Yuri collapsed to the ground.
I still remember back in 2012, after finishing the campain of MW3, I jumped back to MW2 and vainly attempted to find Yuri in the original "No Russian" mission, so this little detail really means a lot to me!

Best Warzone Drop
I believe the best #WarzoneDrop is at the Prison no matter the circle or plane movement. Once there, go all the way underground into the Gulag / cylinder of cels where you will find the best loot including blue, purple, and gold crates. Plenty of armor and ammo to be found throughout the journey down there as well. Plus the prison has a helicopter so you may fly to wherever you need / want to move next due to the circle or teammates strategies. Also a large, tall structure to snipe/ look out for enemies in the distance. Finally, there is a lovely buy crate right across the bridge. Fantastic start to each game.
