A Guide to Perfect Crime

Robbing, although risky, is probably one of the most thrill-inducing ways to help yourself to hard cash. To make sure you commit a perfect crime, naturally, you reach out to masks that can hide your face which is probably the most important thing to be considered when you're about to rob someone. However, the problem is, a mask only hides your identity against civilians, and lawmen basically have X-ray vision to see through you no matter how hard you try to hide your face. Absurd, isn't it? But this is how things work in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Here's how it works basically. When a crime has been committed, witnesses report the crime to lawmen which will eventually end up putting a bounty on you. When you're not wearing a mask, civilians will specifically recognize your identity as Arthur Morgan and deliver the information straight to law enforcement, making it impossible for you to hide your act of mischief. However, when you're wearing a bandanna, because witnesses fail to recognize your face, you will remain as an unidentified suspect until lawmen, as mentioned above, see right through you. Conversely, if you manage to keep yourself out of their sights, it's possible to get away with it without getting a bounty on your head.

It then raises a question of whether wearing different clothes would also be considered to commit a crime safely. To put it shortly, yes. Let's just say you had robbed a gunsmith, wearing your favorite outfit just a few days ago. A witness reported your crime to law enforcement, and you were forced to runaway from the crime scene but then got caught due to poor running skills. You paid up your bounty and walked away but then decided to rob another store in the same town. This time, you've perfectly managed to escape from lawmen but then soon realized that you are wearing the same clothes from the last robbery. Even though a different store has been robbed, because witnesses remembered your clothes from the last time, they recognize you and report you for the crime even with a mask on. The moral of the story is, if you're planning a robbery, wear a mask and do not get caught. Also, don't wear the same outfit twice😉

RWR# 3 Midnight's Pistol

Compendium

"A rare Mauser Pistol, this weapon features gold-plated engravings and a black wooden grip. Previously owned by the late gunslinger Billy Midnight, defeated in a duel on a train departing Rhodes, this gun has an ammo capacity of ten rounds, and can use Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express and Explosive pistol ammo."

Location:
In order to locate Midnight's Pistol, A side mission called, "The Noblest of Men, and a Woman" must be received. You can take the mission from a saloon in Valantine in Chapter 2.

To find Midnight's Pistol, go to the train station in Rhodes and ask the station clerk about Billy Midnight's whereabouts and enter the train outside the door. Upon finding our target, Mr. Midnight in a bar car, he will try to run away from you as he mistakes you for a lawman trying to apprehend him for his past misdeed. Run and chase him till you reach a standoff between you and him, and you'll be forced to have a duel on top of a train car.

The duel with Billy Midnight, similar to that of Flaco Hernandez, is quite simple. Press and Hold R2 or RT button to fill up a circle to draw your gun. You don't necessarily have to fill the full circle as it gives you more than enough time to kill him with only three quarters of the meter filled. Don't forget to loot his weapon afterwards.

RWR# 2 Flaco's Revolver

WARNING, THE FOLLOWING POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

Rare Weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2

RWR# 2 Flaco's Revolver

Compendium

"A rare Cattleman Revolver, featuring delicate engravings and a carved ivory handle. Previously owned by the late gunslinger Flaco Hernandez, defeated in a duel at Cairn Lake, this gun has an ammo capacity of six rounds, and can use Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express and Explosive revolver ammo."

Location:
In order to locate Flaco's Revolver, A side mission called, "The Noblest of Men, and a Woman" must be received. You can take the mission from a saloon in Valantine in Chapter 2.

Upon receiving a request from Theodore Levin, you can now travel to Cairn Lake to take down Flaco Hernandez and loot his weapon. Before visiting Flaco, you'll likely to get into a fight with members of Del Lobo gang near the lake. You can always go threaten them to progress the quest without a fight, but do note that they will turn hostile once you're done dealing with Flaco.

If you are not a skilled gunman, I recommend you catch them by surprise from a distance with a preemptive strike to gain yourself a strategic advantage. There are a total of 5 gang members, and you should be able to take them down without breaking a sweat. Your target, Flaco should be inside a cabin dying to know what happened to his men. To confront him, go in front of his cabin and say you want to have a word with him. he'll come out asking for a duel instead. The duel itself is pretty simple. Press and Hold R2 or RT button to fill up a circle to draw your gun. About half or two-thirds of the full circle should be enough for you to shoot him down. You can now loot his gun beside his dead body.

RWR# 1 Schofield Revolver

WARNING, THE FOLLOWING POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

Rare Weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2

RWR# 1 Schofield Revolver
Compendium

"The powerful Hutton & Baird Schofield is an accurate revolver with high damage, making it the best choice for any serious gunslinger. Despite a slow firing rate and reload speed, when compared with other revolvers, it can still be dual wielded to great effect. This gun has an ammo capacity of six rounds, and can use Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express and Explosive revolver ammo."

Location:

The Schofield Revolver is found in a drug store in Valentine, but you're gonna need to show some muscles in order to get the weapon. Upon reaching Valentine, look for a building with a sign that says, "Doctors." Go around to the back of the store and you will find a window that you can actually look inside of. Through the window, you will then see a man counting paper bills, possibly working on illegal businesses. After that, walk inside the store using the front door and aim your gun at the shopkeeper which would lead him to show you the backroom.

There are four hostiles you'll have to take care of. I suggest you take out a lady after you deal with three guys first. You might find it unnecessary to kill the woman, but trust me, mercy will not stop her from attacking you when you're most vulnerable. Although the small room puts you at a disadvantage to fight multiple enemies at once, it won't be difficult since enemies have not been expecting you at all. Once they're taken care of, you can find the Schofield Revolver lying inside the box on the table.

LAWF# 18 Miscellaneous

Trapper

When you manage to successfully hunt a legendary animal, the first thing you should do is to stash its body on a horse, if possible or skin it to loot essential items that are required to make legendary animal outfits at the Trapper. However, worry not even if your target animal dies out of your sight. The loot is automatically transferred to the Trapper should you fail to skin it, but the only problem is that you'll miss the opportunity to earn a good amount of cash from selling it. Once taken to the trapper, with a certain amount of money and ingredients, you'll be able to craft yourself a unique set of equipment. You can visit the Trapper anytime after the start of Chapter 2.

Fence

Similarly, you can craft a talisman or trinket by bringing a special kind of item that comes from legendary animals to the Fence. Once crafted, these accessories will not be equipable but will offer bonuses regardless. Access to the Fence will require you to complete a mission called "The Spines of America" in Chapter 2.

Entering the Legendary Animal's Territory

Hunting legendary animals requires you to enter their territories. In order to do so, you have to roam the designated area until a message and question mark in the map appear, saying you just have entered "Legendary Animal Territory."
From time to time, however, you'll notice a sign that says you cannot enter the legendary animal's territory, stating that there's too much activity going on around the area. There are various ways to ward off the message. Usually, when the message appears, it indicates that there are too many animals or enemies nearby. Try to scare off animals by making noises with your firearms and clear out hostiles nearby. Having a bounty on you will also prevent you from entering the territory. If these don't do the work, you can try to set up a camp nearby to sleep it off and return to the area.

LAWF# 17 Legendary Giaguaro Panther

LAWF# 17 Legendary Giaguaro Panther
Compendium

"The Legendary Giaguaro Panther is endemic to the south of Scarlett Meadows, in Lemoyne. This panther is easily recognized by its short maroon hair with black markings, and the numerous scars on its body. As a carnivore, it preys on deer, goats and wild boars. Long range weapons like a rifle, or a Bow with Poison Arrows, are considered to be best to take down this temperamental animal. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare trinket."

Location: Southeast of Bolger Blade, Southern side of Lemoyne

Please note that the Legendary Giaguaro Panther will not be available for hunt until Master Hunter Challenges have been completed.

Hiding behind the bushes, the Legendary Giaguaro panther is extremely hard to predict. Once you've cleared out all the clues, try not to move too much from where you are. When you're treading around, your footsteps will make unnecessary noises, blocking your ears from hearing the panther moving, and possibly, it may allow the beast to sneak up behind you and stab you in the back. Open up all your senses so as to find its whereabouts. As it moves towards you, you'll notice the barely audible sound of its footsteps, hurrying to prey on you. If you're quick enough, you might get a chance to use Dead Eye to end the fight quite easily. If not, I pray you have well enough health to survive its first attack. You won't get as many chances as you did with many other legendary animals, for this one's fast as lightning and strong as a bear. Good hunting!

Loot: Legendary Panther Eye, Legendary Panther Pelt, Big Game Meat

Legendary Animal Outfits:

Legendary Panther Cloak, $45
1x Legendary Panther Pelt

LAWF# 16 Legendary Cougar

LAWF# 16 Legendary Cougar

Compendium

"The Legendary Cougar is native to Gaptooth Ridge in New Austin. The unique black fur makes this cougar easily recognizable. As a carnivore, it preys on deer, elk, moose, and mountain goats. Long distance weapons like rifles, or a Bow with Poison Arrows, are recommended for hunting as the vicious nature of cougars means they are prone to attack. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare trinket."

Location: Gaptooth Ridge, Western region of New Austin
(In order to reach the location, you need to complete Chapter 6 to lift the Blackwater bounty)

Although I've been guiding you through the list of legendary animals in alphabetical order, the reason I'm writing this post second to last is because, along with the Legendary Giaguaro Panther, the Legendary Cougar is probably one of the toughest beasts to hunt on the list. If your maximum amount of health isn't high enough, even if you're at full health, a single blow from the beast is lethal enough to kill you instantly. Make sure your equipment and stats are properly upgraded. If they're not, I'd suggest you leave this one for now. You can always return later with better gears.

This powerful feline is no joke at all. Bring all your best firepower to end its life as quickly as you can. If possible, use a cover scent lotion to mask your smell and snipe from a distance. Should you fail to kill it, the cougar will most likely start charging towards you. The trick is to use your Dead Eye as it closes in enough to attack. Best of luck to you.

Loot: Legendary Cougar Fang, Legendary Cougar Pelt, Big Game Meat

Legendary Animal Outfits:
Legendary Cougar Flop Hat, $19
1x Legendary Cougar Pelt
2x Turkey Feather

1x Legendary Cougar Pelt
1x Legendary Wolf Pelt

LAWF# 15 Legendary Wolf

LAWF# 15 Legendary Wolf
Compendium

"The Legendary Wolf is endemic to the Grizzlies. The larger size of this wolf, and the distinguishable brown and black fur, make this animal easily recognizable compared to other wolves in the area. As a carnivore, its diet consists of deer, mountain goats, as well as smaller animals like birds, beavers and fish. A Bow with Poison Arrows, or a rifle, is considered to be the best weapon to hunt this animal with. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare trinket."

Location: Near Cotorra Springs, West of Bacchus Station, Northern region of Ambarino

Starting with wolf dungs, find your way to the target using Eagle Eye. From dung to fur to carcass, you should be able to track it down pretty easily considering that that there aren't a lot of trees to block your sight.

Since the wolf is highly lethal, do not engage it in close range unless you're sure of your skills. I kid you not. This beast, although little, is dangerous enough to take your life away with little effort. Your best bet is to take it down from a far distance. Also, In case you fail to kill it with a rifle, bring a weapon that you can use up close to prepare for what's coming.

Loot: Legendary Wolf Heart, Legendary Wolf Pelt, Big Game Meat

Legendary Animal Outfits:

Legendary Cougar and Wolf Vest, $42
1x Legendary Cougar Pelt

LAWF# 14 Legendary White Bison

LAWF# 14 Legendary White Bison
Compendium

"The Legendary White Bison is endemic to the northern mountains of Ambarino. This albino bison can be easily distinguished by the color of its hair. As a herbivore, it grazes on grains, hay, and corn. Due to the large size of the bison, high impact weapons are considered the best for hunting this animal. The ideal weapon is either a Bow with Improved Arrows or a long scope rifle. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare talisman."

Location: Near Lake Isabella, East of Ambarino

Wear your warm coat on because we're going out to hunt the Legendary White Bison in the snow. The first clue is the fur on the rock near the lake. Tracing the bison's footsteps, you will be guided to find the next clue, some bison dung, followed by the final clue of broken sticks. Despite its white color, the snowy terrain around the area makes it a difficult job for you to find the animal you're looking for. I almost had mistaken it for a huge rock until I realized what it really was.

Slowly reach the animal without getting noticed if you can. A shotgun or a repeater would be an excellent choice to heavily damage the target in short distance. A rifle will also do the work from a distance. However, considering how tough it is, you might need to land a few more bullets for a clean kill.

Loot: Legendary Bison Horn, Legendary White Bison Pelt, Prime Beef Joint

Legendary Animal Outfits:
Legendary White Bison Hat, $45
1x Legendary White Bison Pelt

Legendary White Bison Coat, $29

LAWF# 13 Legendary Tatanka Bison

LAWF# 13 Legendary Tatanka Bison
Compendiun

"The Legendary Tatanka Bison is native to Hennigan's Stead in New Austin. This bison can be recognized by its short black hair and thick light gray hair around its hump and head. As a herbivore, it grazes on grains, hay, and corn. Long range weapons like a long scope rifle or a Bow with Improved Arrows will give you the advantage when hunting this animal. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare trinket."

Location: Near Manteca Falls, East of Armadillo
(In order to reach the location, you need to complete Chapter 6 to lift the Blackwater bounty)

As usual, you need to collect three clues to spawn the Legendary Tatanka Bison. Unlike, the Legendary White Bison, Tatanka Bison is less distinctive in a way that it looks very similar to regular bison. But, fret not, players. The bison you're looking for is large enough to be spotted easily.

Because the bison is quick to get aggressive and most likely to charge and attack when aggroed, I recommend going for the head with a long scope rifle from a distance or a shotgun in case you want to engage in close range. Using a bow and arrow can put you at a disadvantage since it may take more than a few shots if you miss its vital organs.

Loot: Legendary Tatanka Bison Horn, Legendary Tatanka Bison Pelt, Prime Beef Joint,

Legendary Animal Outfits:

LAWF# 12 Legendary Pronghorn

LAWF# 12 Legendary Pronghorn
Compendium

"The Legendary Pronghorn is endemic to Rio Bravo in New Austin. This pronghorn is easily recognized by the short white hair covering its whole body. As a herbivore, its diet includes sagebrush, green shoots, grasses and forbs. The best weapon to use when hunting this animal is either a rifle or Bow with Poison Arrows. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare trinket."

Location: Between Fort Mercer and Rio Del Lobo Rock, Southwest of New Austin
(In order to reach the location, you need to complete Chapter 6 to lift the Blackwater bounty)

Tracking down the trail of the Legendary Pronghorn goes pretty much the same as any other legendary animals. As always, utilizing Eagle Eye is a must when it comes to hunting down animals. However, because there is hardly any distinctive feature other than its white colored fur to spot your target, keep your eyes on the every corner of the screen once you've cleared out all the trails.

The Legendary Pronghorn, in my experience, was probably one of the most elusive animals on the list. I had failed to kill it on the first try, but I managed to get it on the second time. Using a Cover Scent Lotion helped me a lot on the second attempt, so I suggest you do the same. I've tried both a bow with poisoned arrows and a rifle, and either of them is a good enough choice.

Loot: Legendary Pronghorn Horn, Legendary Pronghorn Hide, Mature Venison Meat

Legendary Animal Outfit:
Legendary Pronghorn Coat, $35
x1 Legendary Pronghorn Hide
x1 Perfect Moose Pelt

1x Legendary Pronghorn Hide
