What will you get for winning games?

Valve has made it clear that it will be impossible to earn packs with in-game play. So what's the point of winning games then? I imagine that winning games will grant users tournament tickets which could then be used to enter tournaments with real-money prize pools. Anybody have any info on this?

The count to 100 is over, but we didn't make it to 100...

I was surprised seeing this, With all the trolls and people messing up, it was finished... I bet the mods couldn't handle it ... 80 is not bed and the best part about that is I'm one of the 80... The 80 chain happened around Oct. 13 3am EST... Way better than this other giveaways for me... I feel bad for the people passed 80, but there can be one winner, if it's me I'll make a post about it... 1.25% or better is the odds for me and that's the best odds I had for a beta key...

Mana can go below zero

I'm sure many of you are already familiar with this info given how the most people in this lounge are eyeing on Twitter constantly, but I've brought this here to ask for opinions. Since modification is a permanent effect, if it is possible, do you think it's wise to build a deck based on mana modification? By modifying your opponent's total number of mana below zero, I think there's a possibility to win early in the game by seizing the ability to play cards at all. What do you think?

MTGA is surprisingly getting a lot of attention

Honestly, I've never expected this. People seem to giving a lot of attention to it, and it seems the most are genuinely enjoying the game. I know it's absurd, but it's constantly giving me an impression that it could potentially drive Artifact out of the market.

Artifact is unusually quiet these days

I thought people were going to hype over the beta being open in October, but there's still no news about it at all. I know this lounge isn't even close to one of the most active Artifact communities, but even people in Artifact subreddit seem to be exhausted of continuous waiting. Nothing creative and fun is being posted, but only complaints how they didn't get the key are everywhere. This somehow feels like the calm before the storm.

Wish I could go back in time to attend PAX

Surely, I had the time and money to do so, but I always thought there would be plenty more opportunities in the future to get my hands on beta keys. Also, there was a guy who tried to sell the key for $50. I thought it was way overpriced, so I foolishly missed the opportunity. Artifact beta is going to start anytime soon in October, and now I'm in torture and despair. What's worst is that I can't do shit about it.😭😭😭

Apparently, you get one hero for each pack

I was reading through posts in Reddit, and the details for the draft mode dropped. Here's what I found interesting. When players draft packs, which share same structure as a real pack, they are guaranteed exactly one hero. "Exactly one hero" probably means that we won't be able to pull heroes more than one card. People in the comments are discussing whether this could potentially lower the price of hero cards or not. Any thoughts?

Will MTG Arena hurt Artifact?

MTGA has been getting a lot of attention on Twtich lately and has been featured on the home page pretty much every day since the beta released. MTGA could definitely take away a lot of potential Artifact players especially because it's free to play compared to Artifact's up-front cost.

Crack The Whip -> Coordinated Assault

I'm surprised that this hasn't come up to discussion in this lounge yet. Crack The Whip, a black spell that modifies a black hero with "After you play a black card, give this hero and its allied neighbors +2 Attack this round," has been renamed to Coordinated Assault. Apparently, due to it being a 'black' card that has a title and imagery of whipcracking, some of the people were offended, arguing that the card contains racist connotations. There's already an article about it.
Any thoughts?

Would 750 Ti be enough to run Artifact?

Like I said in the title. Would it be enough to run it smoothly? My computer's like 4 years old with GTX 750 Ti and i3 4130 I've been pretty much playing most of the games on PS4 and Xbox one. I wish Artifact were released on both consoles. I've been saving up to buy Artifact and booster packs, and I just don't want spend more dollars just to play the game.😅

I've been staying away from Artifact for over a week, and there's not a lot of posts going on in the lounge. The official Artifact Twitter seems to be working pretty hard introducing new cards to players, and the search for beta keys is also still ongoing. A small prize whenever you win a tournament

I couldn't be more happy to welcome Artifact, but if there's absolutely no incentive to play against others, why play it in the first place? Ladder system is not my kind of thing, but I wish there was a compensation for putting efforts in to the game. How does a small prize for every tournament you win sound? Even just a booster pack.

Although rarities don't necessarily decide how powerful a card is...

So far, it seems to me the higher the rarity is, the better the cards are. Of course I won't be running a deck full of only rare cards, but it sure sounds tempting if i ever be able to make one. It's not impossible if you think about it. I saw a post the other day on Reddit saying 61 cards out of 222 are rare. Considering that there will be expansions to come in the future, If I spend just right amount of money, I'll be able to make one.

What are your favorite cards so far?

New cards are getting constantly revealed these days, and some of them look fantastic. Performance wise, I'll be incorporating Vhoul martyr in my deck. It will be a fine addition considering how modification gives permanent bonus stats to all allies. Putting aside the performance, I love the card art of Zeus. He never got my attention as a Dota hero but is certainly a fantastic looking unit in Artifact.

My guess on why Valve is launching Artifact

Over the course of years, people have been constantly asking Valve to develop sequels for Half-life, Left 4 Dead, Portal 3, et cetera, et cetera. But why have they ingored all the voices and started developing a TCG? I'm sure there are lots of reasons, but one thing I know for sure is that because the potential profit for card games exceeds single/multiplayer video games by far. And by far, I mean tremendously.
You can purchase almost any video games within the price of $59.99. However, with $2 booster packs being sold in Artifact, people most likely will spend much more than that. It's well known that Artifact will launch with 280 cards available, and by deducting the 108 cards, which would be given to us in the purchase of the game, from the total card pool, the game leaves us total of 172 cards to pull. Unless you are a very lucky person, I highly doubt that you'll pull all desired cards within the price range of a full game. And there's always a little bit of money Valve takes away when you're using Steam market which would eventually snowballed to be a huge mountain of cash for Valve to take.
What about microtransactions that most of the games today have? Wouldn't it be an incentive for Valve to develop sequels? Please do keep in mind that many gamers often criticize developers for putting in such greedy detail. TCGs, however, are relatively free from getting such criticisms since people are very used to buying packs to play the game.
I love what I've seen from Artifact as much as you do. However, clearly, the game is made to make Valve richer. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. Companies seek for maximized profits which makes it totally natural. Just wanted to let you know what I was thinking.

Anyone think there needs to be a spectator mode?

For free I mean. There should be a spectator mode for players whoever wishes to watch the game for themselves. It's a way of attracting more players I would say. Of course, there will be many videos expaining what artifact is about and how to play the game. Nothing, however, is better than watching the game for yourself in action imo. For sure, it'll help potential players get the better gist of Artifact.
