Patch Notes 1.8.3 : New Megaphone feature for Show Directors, new cloak, and optimization fixes
Dear Darwin Project community,
You might’ve seen that we decided to keep Duo Mode in after the second Weekend Test on Steam last week. Thanks for all your help making this feature a reality! We’ve got more improvements heading your way soon.
Here are the changes coming to Steam on Tuesday, April 10. Maintenance will begin at 11 AM EDT (3 PM UTC) on Tuesday, and we’re happy to report that 3 to 4 PM UTC will become our regular maintenance time whenever possible.
This week we’ve got a brand new event, an exciting update to Show Director communication, a new Perk, and more. As always, please let us know what you think on any of our official channels. And be sure to keep an eye out for the next patch notes; our artists have been hard at work on something many of you have asked for.
Read on for the full list of changes!
You should know when the game closes zones and when the game puts out electronics
use that to decide when to do things
most times it's the show director that closes zones with electronics or in the middle of a fight lol
how do i win enough games to get to the top 100?
I was at 120 something 14h ago and I have like 1 day left! gotta somehow win many games
People grind like beasts for top 100
I wont try unless its summer or my spring break
Thats when I have time
Why died the Darwin Project Hype so fast...
I mean its a nice game... but what is missing to get this game up again?
being killed by shenanigans is what makes me suffer the most atm
being spammed by arrows every single match is only fun for so long
i wish there was some kind of training ground to train arrows though
I don't want to freaking quit lobby every single time I want to train
Quick and unrelated question
Why does it feel like everyone else can shoot their bow faster than me? By that I mean the bow string drawback when I prepare to shoot an arrow it feels like I'm a snap with fingers and they are the god of speed and agility

so annoying
how did everyone became so fucking good at this game?
does the shield increase hitbox?
because I feel like it is super easy to just pogo people around when they are shielded
how long can u survive in a closed area?
It is fun most of the time
but when that one battle happens where the SD favors other player, my monitor flies through my window
This game looks dope af can't wait for it to come to console
I f***ing love this game!!
Guys, whats your Win rate & average position?
Cuz i think in the worst dp player
are steam servers just shitting the bed today?
been disconnected from 4 separate games due to steam server connection errors
any1 else?
I think the design of the eggs is intended
players who play normally should get the golden egg and the hardcore have the whole week to get the rabbit hole. whether is it fun to grind is something I like to know. :( at least I think the placement of the eggs in the game is sorta interesting. for example there's 3 entrance to the teleporter in the east tile
There are two types of players now
who dedicate themselves to eggs and want the rabbit hole and those who think the hats are ugly
Duo Mode added to Darwin Project on PC
Scavengers Studio has announced that Duo Mode has been added to Darwin Project on Steam.
Joining its standard free-for-all game mode, Duo Mode allows combatants to team up with friends or strangers. Xbox One support for Duo Mode is also planned and will be announced soon.
The developers have also implemented a new feature on Steam and Xbox One to even the playing field with skill-based matchmaking. Xbox One owners can also now create Private Matches as of the latest update.
Darwin Project is available now on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview for $14.99 USD.

The Darwin Project’s Community is Confusingly Positive
One of the games that have captivated my attention recently has been the latest Battle Royale game: The Darwin Project. The game is fairly entertaining, but the thing that has captivated me has been the attitude of the people playing it. PUBG’s voice chat is quite possibly one of the deepest pits of hell you can enter without murdering a child, and Fortnite doesn’t even have one, which is what makes me curious as to why this one works so well.
Everyone playing the game is really positive about the whole thing, and upon killing other players I can always expect to ear something like “good game man, hope you win”, and other equally positive things. This has been shocking to me as gamer voice chat has never been something I consider wholesome. Nonetheless, there has been a noticeably larger amount of positivity in this game than ever before.
I think the ability for always-on voice chat even after death is what makes it so useful. You can get the tension out with a release of “Oh crap I didn’t even see you there”, which allows the players to move on. There is no closure in Fortnite and PUBG is such a mess I’m not even going to talk about it. The Darwin project offers closure and for both people to release their tension with a rational discussion. The only toxic person I have found so far was myself when I started the game, but I have since gotten better.
I find it so bizarre to say that voice chat in an online video game has benefited my patience, but it definitely has. If only for that, The Darwin Project is worth a purchase to see an interesting case study on the attitudes of people. While I wouldn’t recommend it for every game, this style could definitely help some of the more toxic people online. When I was more irritable at the start of my playing, I was just met with disappointment, and people rightly calling me out for it. Maybe restricting peoples voices was not the way to go from the start, but it is a diamond in the rough to find an online gaming community this positive
