The Daily Moot: Apex Legends Season 7: AscensionNews Picks
1. Apex Legends Ascension
Apex Legends Season 7: Ascension officially launches today, bringing several highly-anticipated updates to the game. Perhaps the most notable of all is the introduction of the brand new map Olympus, which will serve as the game’s primary map for the season. Season 7 also welcomes Horizon to the game, a new Legend who helped save the planet Olympus from destruction but ended up losing her young son in the process. Last but not least, the start of Ascension also marks the launch of Apex Legends on Steam, as well as EA’s new cross-platform integration. Apex Legends Season 7 is set to go live tonight at 8pm Pacific Time; you can check out the gameplay trailer for Season 7: Ascension below.
2. Xbox Series S Storage Capacity New details have emerged suggesting that the all-digital Xbox Series S may be lacking in storage capacity. Although it’s been marketed as having a 512GB custom SSD, it seems that only 364GB will actually be available for games and apps. While it should be noted that this news hasn’t been verified, if true it would mean that just one game like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which has been confirmed to require more than 130GB on next-gen consoles, could take up a significant amount of your total storage space. While the vast majority of games aren’t nearly as large as the upcoming CoD, it does seem that storage space is something for potential buyers to keep in mind when the Xbox Series S launches alongside the Xbox Series X on November 10.
3. World of Warcraft Banning Multi-Boxing Blizzard has officially announced that they will be banning multi-boxers in World of Warcraft. Multi-boxing is the usage of third-party software to control multiple accounts at the same time, which Blizzard says “is used to support botting and automated gameplay.” Blizzard will “soon begin issuing warnings to all players who are detected using input broadcasting software” as one final warning before it becomes an actionable offense in the near future. The punishments for violating the new policy will “include suspension and, if necessary, permanent closure of the player's World of Warcraft account.”
4. Among Us Road Map Innersloth has released a new road map for Among Us revealing the developer’s plans for the game. It’s clear that they are very much focused on reducing the “cheating and hacking going on,” but the roadmap also mentioned that there are significant issues with bugs and said “rushing anti-hacks is what caused the bugs.” Aside from the technical improvements, Innersloth also shared some of the new features they’re hoping to implement in the near future, including official game accounts and a new map. It’s unclear when the new map will be released but we do know that accounts are scheduled to arrive sometime in December.
5. Spelunky 2 Olmec Changes Spelunky 2 just got a big new update which changed one of the game’s most time-consuming bosses in Olmec. Specifically, Olmec will now only throw bombs while players are below him and his floaters have had their life reduced to just 1 hitpoint. The update also included several quality of life changes, such as enabling players to grab ladders and ropes while attacking and making it so that “physics should no longer crush the player as easily as before.”
