The Daily Moot: Modern Warfare & Warzone Season 6News Picks
1. Modern Warfare & Warzone Season 6
Season 6 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone is now live. Both games received plenty of changes with the Season 6 patch, adding new maps, modes, and of course, cosmetics. Most notably for Warzone, Verdansk now has a new fast-travel system called the Verdansk Metro, enabling players to travel from one station to the next in a matter of seconds. On the other hand, Modern Warfare introduced 4 new multiplayer maps as well as a new game mode based on Kill Confirmed. 2. Apple Epic Lawsuit Update The ongoing battle between Apple and Epic Games resumed yesterday as the two companies met in front of the presiding justice for the case, Judge Gonzalez Rogers. Although the case is far from over, it seems that Judge Rogers has already begun forming an opinion on the matter - and it doesn’t look good for Epic. Judge Rogers condemned Epic Games as “not honest” when the company attempted to bypass Apple’s mandatory pay system and said that the company “lied about it by omission, by not being forthcoming.” This doesn’t necessarily mean anything in terms of the outcome of the lawsuit, as Judge Rogers expressed the desire to see the case tried in front of a jury when it comes time for a final verdict. According to Judge Rogers, this means that the trial won’t take place until at least July of next year. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/28/tech/apple-fortnite-epic-hearing/
3. Spelunky 2 Steam Launch Spelunky 2 has officially launched on Steam. The original Spelunky first launched back in 2008 to universal critical acclaim, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the game’s sequel ever since. Spelunky 2 features very similar gameplay to the first game, with heavy emphasis on rougelike elements amid procedurally generated levels. Although developer Derek Yu had originally intended for Spelunky 2 to launch with multiplayer, the mode will now be arriving in “a few weeks at most” as Yu explained that the team “decided to prioritize an earlier release so that Steam players could enjoy the game ASAP.” Once the multiplayer mode goes live, the game will have full cross-platform support between Steam and PS4. You can check out the launch trailer for Spelunky 2 below.
4. The Binding of Isaac: Repentance The Binding of Isaac will soon be getting a huge new DLC called Repentance. Although it’s being marketed as a DLC, developer Edmund McMillen says that the expansion is so massive that it’s “basically a sequel at this point.” Repentance will add a whopping 25 new bosses, more than 100 new enemies, and over 5,000 new room designs to the game. Although no trailer for the DLC has been released yet, McMillen says that the team will start unveiling more information starting in the second half of October. The Binding of Isaac: Repentance is set to launch at the end of this year on December 31. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-binding-of-isaac-repentance-is-a-sequel-sized-dlc-coming-in-december/
