2. Steam Concurrent User Record Steam just broke their all-time record for the most concurrent users with over 19.1 million players. The previous record of 18.8 million users was achieved just one week ago, suggesting that Steam is experiencing a surge in popularity right now. Prior to last week, the record of 18.5 million was held for over 2 years. CS:GO has been the biggest recipient of the surge, breaking their own concurrent user record with nearly 1 million players. The reason for the uptick in popularity isn’t clear, but some have suggested that it’s a consequence of the coronavirus which is leading people to stay indoors and play games for entertainment.
3. Parasite Wins Best Picture The Academy Awards were last night, and Parasite won Best Picture in a huge upset. Parasite is a South Korean black comedy film from critically acclaimed director Bong Joo-Ho. This is the first time in Oscars history that a foreign language film has won Best Picture. Parasite also took home the awards for Best Original Screenplay, Best International Feature Film, and Best Director.
4. Broomstick League Do you like Harry Potter? How about Rocket League? Well, you're in luck because Blue Isle Studios has developed a Rocket League-inspired Quidditch game that is being released next month. Fly around on your broomstick and warp the arena with your spells as you attempt to outscore your opponents in 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 matches. As gimmicky as it sounds, the game actually looks pretty fun. Broomstick League will hit early access on March 5; check out the trailer below.
