The Daily Moot (8/9/18)

1. Fortnite Beta Comes to Samsung Devices

Alongside the Galaxy Note 9 reveal today, the Epic Games founder announced the beginning of the Fortnite beta on Android. The beta will start with Samsung devices and extend to other Android phones and tablets “in the next few days.” They also unveiled an absolutely amazing skin for those who own or buy a Galaxy Note 9 or Tab S4. Also, there is a sweet deal for those who pre-order the Galaxy Note 9; consumers can choose to receive 15,000 V-Bucks or a pair of AKG noise-cancelling headphones.

  2. Another Red Dead Redemption 2 Gameplay Trailer   For starters, this game looks absolutely stunning. The incredibly wide open world and extreme attention to detail from the developers will certainly keep you playing for hours on end and make you not want to put your controller down. If Red Dead Redemption 2 is anything like the first game, we can expect a vast story with twists and turns at every corner. The game takes place in the 1800’s amidst the American Industrial Revolution where the modern world began to take form. Get ready to play as America’s number one bandit, Arthur Morgan, and take on other grisly outlaws in the highly anticipated game releasing on October 26th, 2018.

  3. PUBG’s new War Mode is Called ‘Dodgebomb’   PUBG’s new War Mode ‘Dodgebomb’ is exactly what it sounds like and it sounds awesome. 30 players will face on in 10-man teams in Erangel armed with only frag grenades, a single Molotov, level 3 armor, and a frying pan. Players will start with 30 frag grenades, die instantly to lethal damage, and respawn every 30 seconds. The explosive mode will be available starting tonight at 7pm PDT and will last until the same time on Sunday evening.

  4. Discord to Start a Steam-like Game Store   Discord, the popular voice chat program, will start selling games similar to Steam. The Discord Store will feature a number of predominantly indie games for sale and will let you launch any game through Discord. There will also be free games included. The store beta has already started for 50,000 Canadian Nitro users. While Steam is a goliath in the digital game store marketplace, if any company could compete with them it would be Discord.

  5. Fortnite Patch Nerfs P90 and Tommy Gun, Buffs Building   A tuning patch went live this morning on Fortnite servers that slightly nerfed the Compact SMG and slightly buffed building. The Compact SMG, or P90, now does 1 point of damage less at both the epic and legendary rarities. The Drum Gun is now less accurate, does less damage at range, and spawns 40% less. At the same time, walls of all materials will now start with slightly more health. Wood walls are now 90 instead of 80, stone walls are now 100 instead of 80, and metal walls now start with 110 health instead of 80.
