Auto-Moderation Incoming! 🤖
NoticeGreetings, Mooties! We want to let you know about an important upcoming change to Moot that we hope will drastically improve your experience. We are going to start experimenting with AUTOMATED MODERATION! We already have a small form of automated moderation in the form of a content blacklist. This means certain words are forbidden and if you try to comment or post these words, your post is blocked. Now, we're expanding the automated moderation features to include IMAGES as well! Initially, the new automated moderation will apply only to Direct Messages and Chat Rooms as we fine-tune the feature. Soon, we hope to start expanding it to Lounges one at a time (Off Topic, we're looking at you! 👀) Please keep in mind this is an AUTOMATED system. Your personal conversations are PRIVATE and they will remain PRIVATE. Also, we hope you will let us know how the system seems to be working. For example, if you try to share a meme that doesn't break the Content Policy but it gets rejected let us know! How do you feel about this change? Talk to us in the comments!
I believe it's mainly hateful slurs (homophobic, racial, sexist etc.), but there's probably a couple other words too.
Auto moderation for certain aspects of Moot could be a big help to Mods, and very easily stop those who spam and scam. Of course there’s no guarantee on the impact until we can see some of the results, but I’m always open to new stuff.
No, that’s not how it works for this type of thing. It’s preventative. It’ll block things that appear to be inappropriate from being posted in the first place, like it already does for certain phrases or words, and the roll-out will be slower so that things can be tested.
ObliviousRex it's not gonna work if mooters find multiple ways to posts stuff with different titles and different stuff just saying
That’s what spammers and scammers already do, but it’ll have to be a work in progress. If you see stuff getting blocked from posting, probably contact Mods or Admin. At very least, but we can report things that are being wrongfully blocked.
ObliviousRex which mod who actually responds whenever I need 1?
You can always send stuff to me, of course. It always just depends who’s active at a given time.
ObliviousRex most mods and admins only respond to other mooters your the only one actually helping me out and who listen to me
ObliviousRex 😊 thanks for helping me and being there for me and you do a awesome job being a mod
I hope this doesn't lead to content censorship, I understand that you want to stop people from like saying the n-word or something, but I hope this doesn't become like a youtube situation
Same. If you give people power like that they just get carried away with it.
yeah, hopefully that doesn't happen, but I'm kinda expecting it to happen
Well we can hope ig not like theres much we can do about it unless... 😏😶
I regret asking this already 😒
how could I be that dumb requesting it in the first placeit's because I prefer saying stuff as it is and mods are wasting their time on something like this and I admit I was dumb enough to send this idea to a mod now I completely regret it
all I'm saying is I regret giving this idea to a mod I was just joking around and they just took it and I hate they are gonna bring moot to a horrible place
Well if someone shares a nude in a dm then they can't, making it so we dont see that stuff anymore
Cow Boy Billy I understand that but what really annoys me that we can't no longer post funny stuff on off topic without anyone or mods feeling offended
We LOVE listening to our community for ideas. But this new feature of auto-moderation did not come from a user suggestion.
