The Daily Moot (1/3/19)

1. Old Hearthstone Designers Announce They’re Making a Marvel Game
Last year, Ben Brode and a few of his colleagues left Blizzard to found their own indie studio named Second Dinner. Brode had been the director and face of Hearthstone for several years, so his departure was big news in and of itself. The new studio has now announced their first game will be set in the Marvel universe. The announcement also reveals they have accepted an investment from the Chinese company NetEase to the tune of $30 million. We still don’t know what genre of game will be made, but hopefully that will be revealed soon.

2. CS:GO had a Great Month after Going Free to Play

On December 7th, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive made the transition from a paid game to a free-to-play one. On the same day, Valve also added a battle royale mode to the game called Danger Zone. Looking at some of the figures for the game since then suggests the move was worth it, at least in the short term. Twice as many Steam users played CS:GO in December compared to the previous month. CS:GO has a valuable loot box system so Valve could still make remarkable profits off the game despite it being free to play.

3. Spooky Gifs from Infinity Ward on Twitter Hint at a new Call of Duty Game

The communications manager for Infinity Ward has been posting a spooky gif on their twitter account almost daily since the end of November, but it was just noticed by the internet at large recently. The gifs include subjects like ghosts, demons, ghouls, and more. While some are guessing this is hinting at a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts, that may not be the most likely. For one, Ghosts didn’t have demons or ghouls. For two, it was a pretty crappy game to be honest and doesn’t particularly warrant a sequel. Hopefully we will get some more concrete hints soon enough.

4. 14 Days of Fortnite Ends with Confusion

14 Days of Fortnite was a series of daily challenges that spanned two weeks. Players who completed all of the challenges by the end of the two weeks were meant to get a unique prize, the Equalizer Glider. Unfortunately, a bit of poor communication from Epic Games meant some players thought they would have a couple extra days to complete all of their challenges. To make it up to those specific players, Epic announced they will be giving the Equalizer Glider to all players who completed at least one of the 14 challenges.

5. Blizzard Punishes 18,000 Overwatch Accounts in South Korea for Toxicity

Blizzard has struggled over recent years to keep toxicity out of Overwatch matches. In fact, reducing toxicity was one of the studio’s main goals for the popular game last year. Blizzard overhauled the game’s report feature, began tracking down bad behavior outside of the game, and added social features to promote positive behaviors. While these measures probably helped to some degree, they haven’t fixed the problem. Yesterday, Blizzard’s South Korean office started off the new year by banning 18,188 accounts for toxic behavior.

The Daily Moot (1/2/19)

1. ‘Town of Salem’ Data Breach Compromises 7 Million Players
Town of Salem is a fun online game that tests your abilities to lie and detect when others are lying. Recently, the developers of the game suffered a massive data breach that apparently compromised the personal information of more than 7.6 million players. The hacked information includes usernames, emails, passwords, IP addresses, game activity, and payment information. You can use the website HaveIBeenPwned.com to see if your information has been compromised.

2. Fallout 76 has been Nuke-Free all Year

An unexpected bug in Fallout 76 has left players unable to launch nukes since the new year started. While a New Year’s armistice sounds like a possible event, Bethesda has confirmed this short-term peace was entirely unplanned. It seems Fallout 76 in 2019 is picking up exactly where Fallout 76 in 2018 left off. Confusing headlines, poor communication from Bethesda, and a dwindling player base.

3. Get a Free Indie Game Every Day in 2019

Alright, now this is really cool. An indie game developer named Rami Ismail has announced a new game launcher that will give you a free, small game every day for all of 2019. The games will only take about five minutes to play through and will range in genre, from puzzlers to platformers. The launcher will download one game at midnight GMT which will only be available to play for 24 hours. Check the article below for more information and a link to download the game launcher, called Meditations.

4. Activision Blizzard Fires Their CFO

Activision Blizzard announced this week they are firing their chief financial officer Spencer Neumann, who appears to be headed to work at Netflix. While Activision Blizzard has certainly had a bumpy year, with declining numbers almost across the board, they said in the announcement that the firing is unrelated to the company’s finances over the last year.

5. Xbox Game Pass for January has Some Sweet Games

Xbox Game Pass will be bringing some excellent games to Xbox players over the course of January. On January 3rd you’ll be able to play Ark: Survival Evolved and Life is Strange 2: Part 1. If you haven’t played Life is Strange before, you can play both the first game and the prequel game through Xbox Game Pass as well. Just Cause 3 is the other big headline game, which will be available on January 10th. Check the article below to see the other games that are included in this month’s Xbox Game Pass lineup.

The Daily Moot (12/31/18)

Happy last day of 2018! We got some sweet New Years items on sale until Midnight tonight in the Moot Coin Shop, so be sure to click the link at the bottom of the post to swag out your profile! Also, enjoy this short montage that captures some of the best moments from Moot Points over the last year!

2. Fortnite’s New Years Event has Started

Players around the world were surprised early this morning when a giant disco ball appeared in the sky inside Fortnite. Until it is 2019 for all time zones, every hour on the hour the giant disco ball will appear and countdown to the new year. Players are forced to dance when the countdown hits zero, which should enable everyone to safely enjoy the fireworks. Happy New Year Fortnite fans and everyone on Moot!

3. Soulja Boy has Stopped Selling his Console Due to a Lawsuit

If you missed what may have been gaming’s most confusing headline of the year, let us catch you up. Rapper Soulja Boy announced a few weeks ago he was selling his personally branded gaming consoles on his website, but they looked suspiciously like Nintendo-knockoff consoles you can buy online. They also included games that Soulja Boy did not have permission to sell. The consoles are now unavailable, as a lawsuit from Nintendo is pending.

4. Fortnite’s new Boombox is Quite Annoying

Epic Games introduced the Boombox to Fortnite’s battle royale mode over the weekend and it has caused a bit of a controversy. The Boombox emits pulse waves that rapidly destroy structures they make contact with. A part of the controversy regarding the Boombox is the timing; there was a big tournament this weekend and the Boombox was added to the game without any time for players to prepare. What do you all think of the Boombox?

POPULAR The Daily Moot (12/21/18)

Happy Friday Mootheads! In this week's episode of Moot Points with Dylan & Brian we talk about the Moot Game Awards, which is an event we're running on our service where you can win some DOPE PRIZES! We're giving away FIFTEEN consoles (of your choice) plus one game to come with it. It is completely free to enter! Watch the video or click the link at the bottom of this post to learn more about the event.
2. Valve Changes Artifact Balance Philosophy, Nerfs Expensive Cards

Valve previously stated they would never tweak cards aside from some rare exceptions, but they’ve changed their stance. An update that came out yesterday changed eight cards, including some of the most prominent ones. Axe, the game’s most expensive card, has been nerfed slightly. If you bought any of the cards in Artifact that have been nerfed, you can sell it back to valve for its peak price 24 hours before the nerf announcement. Kind of neat. Do you think this shift in philosophy will help Artifact recover some of its playerbase?

3. Major Hearthstone Nerfs Hopefully Shake Things Up

Earlier this week Blizzard revealed sweeping nerfs to Hearthstone that may qualify as the biggest balance update the game has ever seen. Nerfs to iconic, deck-defining cards for the Druid, Rogue, Paladin, and Shaman classes are sure to result in massive metagame shifts. Us Arena players haven’t been left out of the fun either, as the menace of Arena known as Mind Control Tech is no longer available to draft. Huzzah!

4. Darksiders 3 Patch makes Combat Like the Previous Games

Darksiders 3 has generally gone over well with fans of the series, but one of the biggest complaints is how different the game’s combat felt from compared to the first two Darksiders games. Well, the game’s developers heard that feedback and have introduced a new option called ‘classic combat.’ This will feel much more like the original style of combat we grew to know and love with Darksiders 1 and 2. There are some other small updates in the patch, like a few new checkpoints, but not much more.

POPULAR The Daily Moot (12/20/18)

1. Islands of Nyne Ceases Development, Goes Free to Play
The fast-paced battle royale game Islands of Nyne will stop development almost immediately, according to a Steam Community post from the game’s dev team. In the announcement, it was also revealed the game is going to become free to play and servers will stay up in the future so fans of the game may have a chance to keep playing it. The final update to the game will introduce a credits screen to the main menu and add the ability for players to host their own servers. Did you like Islands of Nyne? Have you ever heard of it? Could be a great time to get into it, seeing as it is now free!

2. First Player Creation Makes its way onto Fortnite’s Block

Kanncitak is the Fortnite player who will be remembered (or more likely, immediately forgotten) as the first to have their creation featured on The Block. Grimy Greens factory is now live in game, meaning players can drop into a game of Fortnite battle royale and experience Kanncitak’s custom design first hand. The Block has replaced Risky Reels and will continue to feature different player creations.

3. Sam Raimi Suit Now Available in Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4

Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 is getting a new DLC tomorrow that will introduce three more suits, but an update this morning has added another suit. The Sam Raimi Spider-Man suit was highly requested and it is now available in game for free. The “Webbed Suit” is famously the suit Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker wore in the first Spider-Man movie he was in. The paid DLC Silver Lining releases tomorrow, rounding out the DLC pack The City That Never Sleeps.

4. ‘Harry Potter Wizards Unite’ is a New Mobile Game

A new teaser for Harry Potter Wizards Unite was just posted on YouTube this morning, showing some out of control Nimbus 2000 brooms flying down a highway. The game is a new mobile game from Niantic, the company that makes Pokemon Go. You can safely expect Wizards Unite to be an Augmented Reality game similar to Pokemon Go. While the specific details of the game are still unclear, you can expect the game to bring you outside to make sure muggles don’t learn about magic. You can also sign up for the beta now! There’s a link at the bottom of the attached article.

5. For Honor’s Assassin’s Creed Crossover Event is Live

For the Creed is a limited time event that will see Assassin’s Creed completely take over For Honor for the next couple of weeks. Until January 1st, For Honor will feature characters, costumes, music, and visual themes from throughout the Assassin’s Creed franchises history. Ezio Auditore and Cesare Borgia are Commanders, soldiers are dressed as Templars(Knights), Assassins(Samurai), or Pirates(Vikings). The three maps in the game even feature dozens of Assassin’s Creed Easter eggs. Finally, a new version of the Dominion game mode is live which features Ezio and Cesare facing off as Commanders.

The Daily Moot (12/19/18)

1. ‘Leaked’ Footage Possibly Shows Red Dead Redemption 2 Footage on PC
A short video showed up on YouTube recently that shows off a potential build of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. The video, which is only 25 seconds long, shows off the graphics setting menu for the game. There are standard PC options like screen type, resolution, refresh rate, and more. While it is exciting to see this kind of thing, the leak may not be real because it only shows menus, which would be the easiest thing to fake. Maybe Rockstar will come out with a statement on the leak, but we wouldn’t bet on it.

2. PUBG Winter Map ‘Vikendi’ Releases on PC and Mobile

Vikendi, PUBG’s snow map they revealed at The Game Awards, is now live for PC and mobile players. Vikendi is an attempt from PUBG Corp. to strike a balance between the style of their old maps and the recently released Sanhok map. Vikendi is larger than Sanhok, but players can still experience some of the fast paced, close quarter combat the small jungle map offered. Apparently, Vikendi will be available on consoles sometime next month.

3. Fortnite’s Official Merch Store Launched Today

Finally, there’s an official way to buy Fortnite themed merchanise. The Retail Row store, which you can access online, provides fans of Fortnite (or their parents) to purchase some sweet cosmetics. The pickings are a bit slim currently, but you can buy a Durr Burger Onesie for $70 USD. There is also a Skull Trooper Pullover Hoodie and a decent selection of graphic t-shirts. Unfortunately, the merch store is not in time for Christmas, as all items will ship sometime in late January.

4. For Honor and Assassin’s Creed Crossover Event may be Near

The For Honor Twitter account is teasing a crossover event with Assassin’s Creed that will be announced tomorrow. For Honor tweeted “nothing is true, everything is permitted” which is the Creed’s maxim, so we know something is coming from the two games. It makes sense, as both games are owned by Ubisoft and have done small scale crossovers before. The extent of the upcoming crossover is the only uncertainty at this point. Fans of the games should keep their eyes peeled tomorrow for a hopefully big announcement.

5. Fallout 76 will get a PvP Mode next Year

Alongside the last patch of 2018, Bethesda has revealed a few teasers of what to expect in Fallout 76 next year. Perhaps the most exciting is the promise of a new mode “without PvP restrictions.” Currently in Fallout 76 when you attack another player, they will take reduced damage until they choose to fight back. Doing away with this restriction would suggest either a full opt-in PvP mode, or maybe even true PvP servers. Either way, it is exciting to see Bethesda continue to invest in a game that clearly needs it.

The Daily Moot (12/18/18)

1. Fortnite Patch 7.10 is Live, but no Driftboards
Despite a brief delay, Fortnite’s 7.10 patch is now live. Unfortunately, the patch does not include the promised Driftboard but we can expect that will be out soon enough. The update does bring some big changes though, as the map is more festive now and Stormwings have been nerfed. The planes now take more damage from flying into buildings and pilots will take more damage when a plane is destroyed. Also, 14 Days of Fortnite starts tomorrow. The event will bring fresh Limited Time Modes to the game each day for two weeks.

2. Alfonso Ribeiro is Suing Epic Games for Stealing the Carlton Dance

Alfonso Ribeiro played Carlton in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air series. In the show, his character had an iconic dance move that has made its way into Fortnite. Ribiero is now suing Epic Games for copying his dance, just weeks after rapper 2 Milly sued Epic for copying the Milly Rock. Ribero’s attorney claims Epic copied his dance without asking permission or offering compensation. It is unclear how far the case will go, as Ribiero does not currently have a copyright on the dance.

3. Legendary Pokemon Heatran Comes to Pokemon Go

Starting this afternoon, Legendary Pokemon Heatran will be available in Raid Battles in Pokemon Go. Players will have until 1 PM PST on January 15th to capture the Legendary Pokemon. Heatran is the third Legendary from Generation 4 to come to the popular mobile game. Today is also the beginning of Pokemon Go’s holiday event, which includes bonuses like double Stardust, double Candy, and free Incubators.

4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Sells 3 Million Copies in 11 Days

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been flying off the physical and digital shelves since it launched on December 7th. In fact, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was already the best pre-selling Nintendo Switch title, but it is now the fastest-selling Switch game after release as well. While these numbers speak to the popularity of the Super Smash Bros series, it also shows the growing popularity of the Nintendo Switch console in the US and abroad. Do you have a Switch? Do you want one? You could win one right now, in fact! Check out The Moot Game Awards linked at the bottom of this post!

5. Steam’s Winter Sale gets a Start Date

Steam sales are always a special time, but the winter one is particularly special. Something about the festive theme of it all, or maybe it’s all the Steam Gift Cards we get for Christmas, make it feel magical. The Steam Winter Sale will officially begin on December 20th. The same day also marks the start of the 2018 Steam Awards voting.

POPULAR The Daily Moot (12/17/18)

1. Epic Games adding a Driftboard to Fortnite
Apparently season 7 is the season of sweet new vehicles, as Epic Games just revealed another one they’ll be adding to their battle royale mode soon. The Driftboard is a single person vehicle that resembles a snowboard. The announcement text refers to as a ‘single player vehicle’ which suggests you won’t be able to have a friend ride along on your shoulders. Expect the Driftboard to come to the game this week with the 7.10 update.

2. Kingdom Hearts III Leaks Six Weeks Early

Copies of Kingdom Hearts III have leaked, with some people offering to sell a copy of the game for up to $100. While it is normal for some aspects of a game’s story to leak a few days before the game releases, the fact that Kingdom Hearts III leaked so far ahead of its release is concerning. The game’s director warned fans to watch out for spoilers, but he assured us that the ending of the game is not actually in the versions currently out. So while some of the game may be spoiled by the time we get to play it next year, hopefully we can stay blissfully unaware of the game’s ending until we get to experience it ourselves.

3. World of Warcraft’s Holiday Event is Underway

The Feast of Winter Veil has come to Azeroth, offering players a way to celebrate the holidays in game. Until January 2nd, players will notice the world is covered in seasonal decorations. You will also find holiday quests in Orgrimmar and Ironforge, as is tradition. Finally, there are seasonal gifts for players in game as well.

4. Battlefield V Undoing TTK Changes after Complaints

It’s nice to see a company admit they messed up. In this case, DICE implemented some changes to their game to extend the Time To Kill (TTK) to make a more new player friendly experience. However, many players felt they took it too far. DICE announced this morning they will be reverting the changes from last week’s patch. The TTK is an incredibly important aspect of any shooter game, so it will be interesting to see how DICE continues to try and balance it for an optimal play experience in Battlefield V.

5. Total Player Numbers for PS4 Games Revealed

Sony has offered PS4 owners a cool social media program called ‘My PS4 Life’ that allows them to see how they’ve spent their time. Some players discovered they could use the information from the videos, specifically how many users have earned a trophy, combined with the % of players who have that trophy to figure out exactly how many people have played each game. While the numbers may not be exact, they are still interested. Unsurprisingly, GTA V is at the top of the list with 51.7 million players. Check out all the numbers and see a more detailed explanation at the link below.

2. Fortnite’s Infinity Blade has Been Vaulted!

Players, Christmas came early! Epic Games took to Twitter this morning to announce they have vaulted the controversial Infinity Blade. In an earlier update, Epic Games announced they were nerfing the Infinity Blade by making it so the weapon could no longer be used to harvest resources. The community was unhappy with this, and Epic Games later announced they were actually going to vault the weapon because they “messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpower/ without good counters.” Epic thanks everyone for calling them out on their mistake.

3. Blizzard Shuts Down Heroes of the Storm Esports

Heroes of the Storm has been one of Blizzard’s most supported esports with both the Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm bringing out great competition in the past. Despite that, Blizzard announced last night they will be cancelling previously planned esports competitions for the MOBA and siphoning developers away from the game to work on other projects. Several professional Heroes of the Storm players have taken to Twitter to express their disgust at how Blizzard has blindsided them.

4. Artifact 1.1 Update adds Social Features

Despite the faltering player counts, the Artifact team is still pushing on. They released an update today that focuses on improving the social aspects of the game. There is now a chat wheel, in-game and post-game chat, and new automated tournaments. The update announcement also hints at a new update next week that is “focused on a skill-based progression system.” Sounds promising!

5. Black Ops 4 Holiday Events Start Today

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 holiday events for both Blackout and Zombies have started today for PlayStation 4 players, with PC and Xbox players needing to wait another week. In Blackout, players will notice snowballs, holiday decorations, and holiday-themed supply stashes to get in the holiday spirit. Zombies players will enjoy the new Winter Calling event. Also, players on all platforms will get double XP and double merits all weekend long.

The Daily Moot (12/13/18)

1.Overwatch League Announces 2019 Schedule and Prizes
The schedule for Overwatch League’s second season has just been announced and it has some exciting improvements over last year. For starters, the prize pool has been raised to $5 million to keep up with the increased number of teams. Perhaps more exciting, there will finally be games played outside of Blizzard’s arena in southern California. The Dallas Fuel, Atlanta Reign, and Los Angeles Valiant will all host games in their home cities. The regular season starts on February 14th of next year.

2. Epic Games Opening up Cross-Platform Services to other Developers

A major component to Fortnite’s explosive growth over the last year has been the game’s cross-platform compatibility. Now, Epic Games is going to help all game developers make their games cross-platform starting next year. Epic Games announced they will roll out tools for cross-platform login, voice chat, parties, and cloud storage. All of these services will be “free for all developers, and will be open to all engines, all platforms, and all stores.”

3. Metro Exodus will Release One Week Early

Metro Exodus just went gold and perhaps to celebrate the developers have announced they will release the game a week early. Metro Exodus was originally slated to release on February 22nd of next year, the same day as the highly-anticipated MMO Anthem, but it will now release on February 15th. There was going to be a movie based on the Metro series but it has been cancelled due to the screenwriters planning to move the story to Washington DC, which the author didn’t appreciate.

4. Pokemon Go PVP is now Live

As of today, you can finally battle other trainers in Pokemon Go! You will need to level 10 or higher to participate in trainer battles. You can access battles by scanning another user’s trainer code, which means you can mostly only battle people near you. The exception is your Ultra or Best Friends, who you can battle over the internet.

5. The Division 2 Technical Alpha Announced

Ubisoft announced a technical alpha test for The Division 2, starting on December 15th. Only a handful of users will be granted access to this preliminary test of the game and unfortunately they’ve already been preselected. If you didn’t get in but still want to play The Division 2 before it releases, you can pre-order the game now to earn beta access. We don’t yet know when the beta will be, but it will naturally occur before the game releases on March 15th. The Division 2 moves the story from New York City down into Washington D.C.

The Daily Moot (12/12/18)

1. Overwatch Winter Wonderland is now Live
Overwatch’s holiday event is live now, with plenty of new skins, emotes, and other cosmetics for you to unlock. This year doesn’t actually introduce a new holiday-themed game mode, but Blizzard has brought back both Yeti Hunter and Mei’s Snowball Offensive. Some of the new holiday skins include Snowboarder Zarya, Arctic Fox Lucio, and Junkrat Krampus. What’s your favorite skin from this year’s Winter Wonderland? Let us know!

2. Battle Royale Tycoon lets you Run a BR Theme Park

It’s a battle royale world, and we’re just gaming in it. Battle Royale Tycoon takes things fully meta and lets you run your own battle royale theme park. Much like Rollercoaster Tycoon has you design rollercoasters for your guests, Battle Royale Tycoon lets you design battle royales for them. Just like any other theme park, you’ll need to hire staff, set up bathrooms, and create food accomodations for your guests. But then instead of riding rides, they’ll try to kill each other. The game is in Steam Early Access if you’d like to play it, or you can check out the article linked below to read more and see some gameplay.

3. New Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC Coming Next Week

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has been flying under the radar as a great game that came out this year, but that isn’t stopping the team behind the game. They released their first DLC, called The Forge, in October and now the game’s second DLC is coming out next week. The new DLC is called The Pillar and we don’t know the exact details of it yet, but we do know it releases on December 18th. If you’re interested in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you can still play the game’s first few levels for free now!

4. Artifact is Struggling to Keep a Playerbase

Artifact, Valve’s digital card game that released late last month, has been steadily losing players. According to SteamCharts and SteamDB the game peaked at 60,740 concurrent players on November 29th. In the last 24 hours, there were only 12,670 concurrent players. That’s a massive falloff for a game that is so new and has all the advantage’s Artifact has. It is uncertain whether Artifact’s issues stem from the game’s complexity, its economic model, or something else. Have you tried Artifact? Are you interested in the game at all? Let us know!

5. Stardew Valley Multiplayer on Switch is Finally Here

A new update went live this morning that has brought multiplayer to Stardew Valley on the Nintendo Switch. Fans of the game have been waiting for this for a while now, so it is exciting to see the day has finally come. The update supports 4-player online co-op play. You can invite up to 3 friends to a single-player save you already have, or you can start fresh. There is also support for both voice and text chat with your friends while you play. Pretty sweet!

POPULAR The Daily Moot (12/11/18)

1. The Infinity Blade is now Live in Fortnite
Well, that was fast. Yesterday we talked about the sword that would be coming to Fortnite and today we are happy to tell you the Infinity Blade is now in the game. The Infinity Blade is similar to Thanos’s Gauntlet from the Marvel crossover event; only one spawns per game, at the top of Polar Peak, and whoever wields it will receive some buffs. When holding the Infinity Blade players will drop all their items, gain extra health and shields, and receive a movement speed buff. Sounds pretty neat, huh? Have you all had a chance to try the Infinity Blade yet? What do you think?

2. Black Ops 4’s First Premium DLC Leaked

The first multiplayer map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 apparently leaked last night, as some players in Australia noticed they were able to download and play two new multiplayer maps. Some of these players even posted footage of the new maps, Madagascar and Elevation, to YouTube. Players were even able to access the new zombies mode called Dead of the Night. Treyarch has said they will release an official trailer of the new DLC some time today. Also, some seasonal changes went live in the game’s Blackout mode yesterday.

3. Pirate MMO ‘Atlas’ Delayed until Next Week

Atlas is a pirate-themed MMO that was supposed to release to Steam Early Access this week. Now, the game has been delayed until at least next week. Atlas is a massive virtual world that will enable you to rule over your own island, engage in multiplayer ship battles, and explore hundreds of other islands all in one online server. On paper, the game sounds like a dream. In practice? We’ll have to wait and see. Atlas will launch on December 19th if there are no further delays.

4. Fallout 76 Patch Introduces some Requested Features

Fallout 76 has had a bit of a bumpy launch, to say the least. But today’s patch looks to be a step in the right direction without any immediately glaring mistakes from Bethesda. The new patch lets players use push-to-talk for voice chat, with Caps Lock being the default keybind. There are also now sliders to adjust your Field of View and Depth of Field. Finally, the patch implemented support for ultrawidescreen displays. Are you still playing Fallout 76? Is it worth it? Let us know!

5. GTA Online gets Arena War Update

A new update to GTA Online has introduced Arena War, which allows players to battle with custom vehicles inside the Maze Bank Arena. Arena War comes with 7 new game modes including deathmatch, capture the flag, and races. You can purchase the Arena Workshop which will allow you to customize your vehicles so you’re more equipped for the vehicular carnage that awaits you. It looks like Rockstar is still committed to GTA Online despite recently releasing Red Dead Redemption 2, which is nice. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the new update for GTA Online!

POPULAR The Daily Moot (12/10/18)

1.Swords are Coming to Fortnite Soon
Epic Games posted a teaser on their Twitter page this morning that shows a player pulling a sword out of ice in King Arthur style. To the astute observer, this won’t come as a surprise; one of the first images of season 7 showed a character holding a sword in the background. We don’t know whether there will be only one sword or if they’ll introduce different ones in the future. Either way, expect to see swords in game some time this week or next week at the latest.

2. Geralt of Rivia is coming to Monster Hunter World

The team behind Monster Hunter World announced a few big updates coming to their game, including the introduction of Geralt of Rivia to their game. Geralt is the main character of the Witcher series, so he seems like a perfect fit for another game all about killing ungodly monsters. Monster Hunter World will also be getting the Iceborne expansion, which apparently has enough content to make it feel like a whole new game. Iceborne will release by the end of this year and the update that introduces Geralt of Rivia will come out early next year.

3. South Korea Criminalizes Video Game Account Boosting

Account boosting is the process where a high skill player plays on a lower skilled player’s account in order to boost them to a higher rank. It is unhealthy for a video game’s ranked ecosystem as it messes up matchmaking and creates unfair games both when the booster is playing and afterwards. South Korea has now expanded their Game Industry Promotion Act to criminalize the act of account boosting. Players caught boosting can now get charged with a two-year suspended prison sentence and a fine of up to $18,000 USD.

4. Doom Creator Announces New Levels for Original 1993 Doom

Today is the 25th anniversary of the originally Doom and the game’s creator just announced a free expansion for the original game to celebrate. The expansion is called Sigil and it will include 18 new levels, evenly split between single-player and deathmatch. Players must own the original 1993 version of Doom in order to play the new levels. Sigil will release in mid-February of next year.

5. Rainbow Six Siege Autobans are now Less Automatic

Earlier this year Ubisoft announced and implemented a feature that would automatically detect racist and homophobic language and ban the offending users accordingly. Now, the system will still detect slurs in messages but users will be manually reviewed before they are banned. This is to improve the gameplay experience of all users, as having one of your teammates banned mid-game feels pretty bad. The new system will prevent these messages from being sent and warn the user that their message hasn’t been sent and is under review for inappropriate language.

Happy Friday JingleMoots! It's the holiday season and in this week's episode of Moot Points with Dylan and Brian the boys talk about Fortnite's new season. The season brings some massive additions and changes to the most popular game in the world and the guys have some hot takes on it all. Check out the episode below! 2. ‘The Block’ will Bring the best of Fortnite’s Creative Mode to Battle Royale

Yesterday we saw the start of Fortnite’s new Creative mode, where players can freely build their own custom creations, and now we’ve found out that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Epic Games has leveled Risky Reels(RIP) to create a new flat plaza called The Block. The Block will feature different player-made creations for the whole world to see. They will be watching social media to find the creations they want to bring to the real map, so remember to use the #FortniteBlockParty hashtag when tweeting out your builds.

3. PUBG Reveals Winter Map, on PC Test Servers Now

At The Game Awards last night, PUBG Corp. revealed their new winter map. The new map, named Vikendi, will release on PC servers on December 19th. If you can’t wait that long to play it, you’re actually in luck; Vikendi is now playable on PC test servers. The reveal trailer didn’t show much of the map, but early streams from this morning have been promising. See the map for yourself on the PC test servers while you can.

4. Black Ops 4 Battle Edition Announced

Activision Blizzard just announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Edition, which is now available on Battle.net. The Battle Edition features only the multiplayer and Blackout modes, leaving out Zombies. The Battle Edition will cost only $30 USD until January 6th, when the price goes up $10, and you will have the option to upgrade to the full edition of the game for an undisclosed price if you ever feel like playing Zombies. Thanks, Activision Blizzard.

5. 10 Million USD to be Invested into Magic: The Gathering Arena Esports

Wizards of the Coast announced at The Game Awards last night they will be invested $10 Million USD into an esports program for their new software Magic: The Gathering Arena. MTGA is a free way to play the classic Magic: the Gathering card game in a digital setting. The Magic Pro League will feature 32 of the world’s top ranked players, who will be offered $75,000 yearly contracts to play and stream the game. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of all of this is how Wizards is attempting to tie together the paper and digital aspects of their game, as paper tournaments can qualify players for online tournaments and vice versa.

POPULAR The Daily Moot (12/6/18)

1. Fortnite Season 7 is Here!
Christmas has come early everyone! Fortnite’s new season is here and it has tons of updates to the game, just as we’ve come to expect. They’ve introduced some drastic changes to the map to match the season’s winter theme. There are also now ziplines and airplanes in the game to help you maneuver around the map. There are also now ‘wraps’ which let you customize the appearance of your weapon. You can read more about season 7 at the link below, but really you should probably just launch up the game and see it for yourself!

2. The Game Awards 2018 are Tonight

The Game Awards 2018 will be broadcast tonight at 6 pm PST on all major streaming services. On top of the awards aspect of the event, some studios will be making big announcements about future games at tonight’s show. We know for sure there will be a big Far Cry reveal, for example. There will also be musical performances and celebrity appearances, so there’s sure to be something for the whole family!

3. Bethesda Support Leaks Fallout 76 Customer Information

If you purchased Fallout 76, you may want to move to protect yourself. Some users who submitted customer support tickets noticed a loophole that enabled them to view the tickets of others, which included access to personal information. This personal information could include name, email, home address, or even credit card information. After some users reported it to Bethesda, they responded with ‘we’ve resolved this issue.’ Will the trainwreck that is Fallout 76 ever end?

4. Play a Free Trial of Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider released earlier this year to generally positive reviews, but if you haven’t played it yet you now have a great chance. There is a new free trial version of the game on both PC and consoles that will let you try out the opening levels to see if the game interests you. If you decide to purchase the game, your progression from the free trial will carry over. Pretty sweet!

5. A New PUBG Short Film Celebrates the Game’s PS4 Release

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds finally comes to the PlayStation 4 tomorrow and to celebrate the launch PUBG Corp. partnered with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts to produce a PUBG short film. The film features Jason Mitchell, who is perhaps most known for his role as Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton. It’s only a few minutes long, so you really have no reason NOT to check it out!

The Daily Moot (12/5/18)

1. Fortnite Creative Coming with Season 7
With the launch of Fortnite’s seventh season you will be able to start customizing your own private island. According to the announcement post you will be able to “design games, race around the island, battle your friends in new ways, and build your dream Fortnite.” Everything you make will be saved for future use, which is sweet. Creative will actually only be available to Battle Pass owners during the first week of the season, but after that everyone will gain access. What do you guys think? Cool or drool?

2. Fallout 76 In-Game Events will Start Next Year

Bethesda confirmed we won’t be seeing live in-game events in Fallout 76 until early next year. According to the announcement, Bethesda said these events will take place over the course of a week, will be different every time, and “will often provide a small buff or create an interesting twist on normal gameplay.” Plenty of games are testing the weekly in-game events model to keep their userbase engaged over the long-term; we’ll have to wait and see how well Bethesda can pull it off in Fallout 76.

3. ‘Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam’ Releases on Mobile Next Week

If you’re looking for a new mobile game to play, Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam may be just that. This new skateboarding game is free to play and comes to mobile devices next week. The game follows the class Tony Hawk formula: skate through over 15 different parks, pull off wicked tricks, and set high scores. Tony Hawk games of old were fan favorites, but recent editions have been a bit disappointing. Hopefully the new title can live up to the legacy of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater games.

4. PUBG Players on PC Receive a Gift for the Holidays

PC players who log into PUBG during December’s event will receive a Festive Beanie and a Red Nose so their character can get into the mood of the season. You can wear these items for all of December, at which point they will disappear from your inventory unless you earn the right to keep them. How do you earn these items permanently, you wonder? Well, all you need to do is place in the top 10 of any map or non-custom game mode ten times during the event. Good luck!

5. Ubisoft Teases a new Far Cry Game

Ubisoft released a teaser video ahead of their presentation at The Game Awards tomorrow that seems to tease a new Far Cry game. The video shows a landscape strikingly similar to the environment of Far Cry 5 before a nuclear blast goes off. The video ends with the caption “Tune in for the worldwide reveal of the next Far Cry” which pretty directly states this is a teaser for a new game, not a DLC or expansion or any of that nonsense. Well, guess we will just have to wait and see!

The Daily Moot (12/4/18)

1. Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Wind Bastion is now Live
The new Rainbow Six Siege operation is now live, bringing with it a new map, two new operators, and tweaks to some of the game’s current operators. The new operators are Kaid, the stoic Commander, and Nomad, the world traveler. Nomad is an attacker who can launch grenades from her rifle that will detonate midair if they detect an enemy. Kaid is a defender who can use his electroclaw to electrify reinforced walls and hatches, barbed wire, or deployable shields.

2. Epic Games Launches Digital Store to Rival Steam

Epic Games just announced the Epic Games Store, which will provide a marketplace for developers to sell digital copies of their PC games. In an unprecedented move, Epic Games will provide developers 88% of the revenue from their game sales. The market standard is only 70%, so this extremely generous split may draw some developers to publish their games on the Epic Games Store. To add a cherry on top, Epic will also waive all Unreal Engine royalty fees for games sold on their new marketplace.

3. Trainer Battles Coming to Pokemon Go Soon

Well, it’s definitely taken longer than it should’ve, but it seems you will finally be able to battle your friends in Pokemon Go soon. You can challenge other trainers using Battle Codes. Choose a team of three Pokemon and see who wins! There will also apparently be ‘great rewards’ for both participants. Different leagues that set a max CP per Pokemon will ensure a more even playing field for each battle. Niantic has said the feature will release this month, so keep your eyes peeled!

4. Overwatch Reveals Dates for Winter Wonderland Event

Overwatch’s holiday event is always one of their most popular, and we don’t expect this year to be any different. The annual Winter Wonderland event will kick off December 11th and end January 2nd of next year. We probably won’t be getting a new winter-themed game mode this year, but you can expect both Mei’s Snowball Offensive and Yeti Hunter to make a return. As always, you can also expect winter skins to come to the shop, both new and old.

5. Massive December Clash Royale Update

Clash Royale is unveiling a super sweet update sometime later this month which will bring brand new content to the already magnificent game. New skins for maxed cards by spending a new currency called Star Points, new limited time game modes, and tournament revamp are just some of the epic updates! Check the two videos below to see all that is to come this month after the most recent card balance update on 12/3!

The Daily Moot (12/3/18)

1. Fortnite Season 7 Teasers Begin
The first teaser for Fortnite’s seventh season warns “a bitter ice spreads.” The image shows a mysterious icy figure that at the least hints at a potential new skin. Season 7 starts in just 3 days, so we can expect another couple images from the Fortnite twitter before then. Hopefully the plot of season 7 relates to the once-in-a-lifetime event where players were sent into a white void, because we still want an explanation about what exactly that was. What do you all expect from Fortnite season 7?

2. First Red Dead Online Patch Focuses on the Economy

Remember all those times we said Red Dead Online would be shaped on community feedback? Well, Rockstar just revealed their plans for Red Dead Online’s first update and it seems to address the community’s biggest complaint: the economy. Rockstar said the in-game economy “will require some additional balancing in order to insure all activies are appropriately rewarding and fun.” In-game activities provide players with gold, which are used in the in-game Store to purchase cosmetic items now and microtransactions in the future.

3. Heroes of the Storm Holiday Event has a Toy Theme

Heroes of the Storm has generally been a fun and well-made game, which makes their new holiday update perfectly on-brand. The new event turns heroes into different action figures and stuffed animals. Stitches is now Cuddle Bear Stiches. Dehaka is now Dehakasaurus Rex. You get the idea. There are also new mounts that match the theme of the event, like the legendary stuffed unicorn mount. Finally, there is a new in-game announcer. “The Kid” from the trailer will be available as an in-game announcer, which is perfectly fine with us as he is gosh-darn adorable just like the rest of the event. All the fun starts December 7th.

4. More Details about Stellaris’ Megacorp Expansion

We knew from the expansion reveal that Megacorp would focus on bringing big business to Stellaris on an intergalactic scale, but a recent video outlines more details about how exactly the Megacorp expansion will do just that. First, there’s a new planet type called Ecumenopolis; these are ‘city planets’ that will support massive populations, and presumably provide massive business opportunities. There are also new intergalactic salesmen called Caravaneers who will provide you with great deals when you see them. The expansion will release alongside the free Le Guin update, which reworks the game’s economy. You can buy Megacorp for $20 USD and it will be live this Thursday.

5. First Battlefield 5 Update comes out Tomorrow

Despite a bumpy launch, Battlefield 5 is putting out its first free batch of content tomorrow. The update, called Overture, is a part of the Tides of War series of content DICE announced last month. Overture adds a new multiplayer map called Panzerstorm that focused on vehicle combat. The new single-player mission included in Overture is called The Last Tiger. The Last Tiger also focuses on tank combat, as it puts you one of the famed German Tiger 1 tanks. Finally, Overture introduces some new cosmetic options for vehicles and adds a couple new arcade modes.

Happy Friday Moothquakes! In this week's episode of Moot Points with Dylan & Brian, the boys discuss the newly released Red Dead Online beta and share what they like and dislike about it so far. Check out the episode below!

2. Fortnite Account Merging Delayed Until Next Year

Back in September, Epic Games announced they were working on a feature that would let players merge two accounts into one. Some players were forced to create multiple accounts because Sony wasn’t happy with the idea that users may play on another platform, like the Nintendo Switch. Now, Epic Games has announced technical issues have caused them to push back the release of account merging into early next year. Oh well; we can wait a little bit longer, can’t we?

3. Sign up for Anthem’s Closed Alpha Testing Now

Electronic Arts (EA) announced yesterday sign-ups for Anthem’s alpha testing are now open. The tests start on December 8th and you can sign up for a slot to test on one of the three major platforms (Xbox, PS4, or PC.) EA has warned the Anthem tests could be a rough, as the game is still in early stages and they will be testing things on the fly during the alpha. The article below has more details about the alpha and includes a link to sign up.

4. Trainer Battles are Coming to Pokemon Go Soon

Pokemon Go has been strictly PvE (player vs environment) since it launched in the summer of 2016, but that will soon change. Niantic revealed on twitter this morning they will soon be introducing Trainer Battles to Pokemon Go. The video clips they’ve introduced show a Trainer standing in a field, similar to how you would see a wild Pokemon in the game when you’re attempting to catch it. We’re uncertain whether this means you’ll be battling NPCs or if you can battle your friends.

5. The Elder Scrolls: Blades has been Delayed Until 2019

The Elder Scrolls: Blades is a free-to-play mobile game from Bethesda that apparently has looked impressive to those who played it. Todd Howard originally announced a fall 2018 release date, but a tweet yesterday revealed the game will actually release early next year for iOS and Android devices. According to the attached Polygon article, “Blades is not expected to be a full, open-world experience. Instead, it will have more linear levels and some limited social features.”

POPULAR The Daily Moot (11/29/18)

1. Fortnite Leak Suggests the end of Tilted Towers
Famous Fortnite leaker @FNLeaks tweeted earlier this week some game files they found that apparently suggest the end of Tilted Towers is near. We’ve heard this before so no one will blame you for being a bit skeptical, but this time the leak is at least partially convincing. We mean, one game file in the new update includes the text “DestroyTiltedTowers.” The theory suggests a robot army may bear down on Tilted Towers to destroy it. Do you think this will ever happen?

2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will Require a Day One Patch

Super Smashs Bros. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed yesterday that the game will require a day one patch to fix its game replay system. The day one patch will only be for those who purchase the physical copy of the game, as the digital download will be updated to include the fix automatically. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases on December 7th for the Nintendo Switch.

3. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Update Adds post-level 50 Mastery System

Dedicated Assassin’s Creed Odyssey players will be happy to see they can now continue to progress their character after they hit level 50. A new patch introduced the option to spend ability points on stat bonuses from a new menu screen. The patch also introduces the option to fast travel to mythical creatures and allows PC players to set Alexios and Kassandra’s walking speed. The first DLC for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes out on December 4th.

4. Bethesda Embarrasses Themselves with Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition

Bethesda offered a Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 that was supposed to come with, among other things, a Power Armor Helmet and a canvas bag to keep it in. The whole package cost $200 USD. When it shipped, purchasers found out the bag they received was actually made of nylon, not canvas. Bethesda has said the materials were too expensive to make the bag with canvas and they have no plans to fix things. They did grant players five dollars of in-game currency to compensate them, so there’s that.

5. Blizzard Reveals 2019 Esports Plan for Hearthstone

Blizzard revealed their plans for the next year of competitive Hearthstone which will partially restructure their game’s competitive scene. Blizzard is moving toward a three-tier system of competitive play. The first tier will consist of mostly online open qualifier tournaments. The next tier up will be live invitational tournaments. Finally, the highest level is called Premier Competition. We don’t know all the details about the highest level play yet, but we do know the whole system will include over $4 million USD in prizes.

The Daily Moot (11/28/18)

1. Valve’s Card Game ‘Artifact’ Releases on Steam Today
Artifact is the highly-anticipated digital card game from Valve that has had fans eagerly awaiting today. The game is based on Dota 2 and as such utilizes a three-lane board setup similar to the famous MOBA game. Artifact is designed by legendary game designer Richard Garfield, who famously created Magic: the Gathering 25 years ago, and promises incredibly satisfying strategic gameplay. You can buy the game itself for $20 on the Steam store and you can now buy individual Artifact cards on the marketplace as well.

2. Esports to be an Official Medal Sport in the SEA Games

We just took another step toward seeing esports in the Olympics when yesterday the Philippines South East Asian Games Organizing Committee announced they will include esports as an official medal sport in the 2019 South East Asian Games. Earlier this year, esports were included as a demonstration sport in the Asia Games. So far the only game announced is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, but the other titles are expected to be finalized by December 15th.

3. FTC to Investigate Loot Boxes

The US Federal Trade Commission will investigate loot boxes after Senator Maggie Hassan’s continuous attempts to raise concerns on the matter. The Entertainment Software Association previously declined to investigate loot boxes, as president Michael Gallagher claimed the loot box is ‘quite different’ from gambling and regulating loot boxes would impair the ability of the industry “to continually test new business models.” The biggest concern with loot boxes is how game companies can create predatory business models targeted at their young player bases.

4. Guacamelee! 2 is Coming to the Switch and Xbox One

Guacamelee! 2 released exclusively on the PlayStation 4, but that period of exclusivity was short lived. On December 10th the game is releasing on the Nintendo Switch and in January of next year it will be coming to the Xbox One. Switch owners can pre-order the game now to save 10%. The game’s first DLC pack also just released on PlayStation 4 for $2.99. It will be available on the Switch and Xbox One when the game releases on those platforms.

5. Nintendo Switch Sells Big Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Over the five-day period starting with Thanksgiving and ending with Cyber Monday the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling video game product online. This made it the most successful Nintendo product ever in that critically important five-day window. You can expect the Nintendo Switch to continue selling well through the holiday season, especially with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releasing on December 7th.

**NOTICE**

We just launched a massive new update to our LFG system, where we introduced LFT Presets. You can customize your LFT Preset to find the perfect team for any game on our service in no time! Read about it here:

1. Red Dead Online Launched Today, Includes Battle Royale
Red Dead Online is now available for those who purchased the game’s Ultimate Edition and it will become available to others who own Red Dead Redemption 2 throughout the week. In Red Dead Online you can form a Posse, set up camp, explore the world, take on missions, and more. You can also play some new game modes, including a battle royale mode. Make it Count is a mode where players use only a bow, some arrows, and throwing knives to fight until only one player remains.

2. Fortnite Item Gifting Available for a Limited Time

With the release of the 6.31 update to Fortnite you will temporarily be able to send cosmetic items to your friends as gifts. This feature has been long requested, so it is good to see Epic Games finally introducing it. There are some restrictions to prevent players exploiting the feature. You’ll only be able to send 3 gifts per day and you can only send gifts to people you have been friends with for 48 hours or more. Currently, you can gift cosmetics but not the battle pass.

3. Bungie Reveals Destiny 2’s First Mini-Expansion

Black Armory is the first “mini-expansion” coming to Destiny 2. Black Armory centers around the vendor Ada-1, who will send players on new quests to re-ignite the weapon forges lost during the Golden Age. Players will team up to defend the Forges from an onslaught of enemies and eventually earn a new weapon. There is also a new raid in the expansion called Scourge of the Past. We know the raid will take players into the abandoned areas of the Last City, but we don’t know much else. Black Armory releases on December 4th on all platforms.

4. Fallout 76 Getting two big Updates in December

Fallout 76 has had its critics from the first open beta and it seems Bethesda is listening closely. Bethesda has promised two updates in December to tackle some of the game’s issues. The first update, tentatively slated for December 4th, will increase the Stash storage limit, increase boss loot, increase respawning when overencumbered, and prevent players from getting stuck inside Power Armor. The second update, set to release one week later, will improve some C.A.M.P features and introduce push to talk to PC servers.

5. Free Sea of Thieves Expansion Launching Tomorrow

Sea of Thieves was lacking content at launch, but the team behind the game has been pumping it out since then. Sea of Thieves players have received three free expansion packs, all of which focused on adding content to the game. Now, the map feels full and there is a lot more for players to do. Tomorrow, the Shrouded Spoils expansion launches with the goal of breathing new life into the game. Shrouded Spoils introduces fog, which will hide threats from players when at sea. The megalodon and kraken both drop loot now, skeleton ships have been updated, and there are some new ship customization options as well.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Launches This Week
If you bought the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll be able to play Red Dead Online starting tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. 2. Epic and Legendary Pump Shotty Coming to Fortnite

Epic Games announces they’ll be introducing epic and legendary versions of the famous pump shotgun to Fortnite’s battle royale mode some time this week. The new gun comes alongside a rework to the pump shotgun’s pellet system, which frequently caused some ‘feels bad’ moments. All shotguns will now deal at least three pellets worth of damage, even if only 1 or 2 connect. This means no more 7 damage shots from your pump shotgun. Expect the new pump shotgun to become available some time mid-week as usual.

3. Smash Bros Ultimate Full Game Leaked Online

A full copy of Smash Bros Ultimate, which is set to release December 7th, has reported leaked online. Several difference illegal copies of the game are apparently spreading online, with some of them confirmed by news sources. At least one of the leaked versions of the game results in Switch consoles being bricked when they try to play it. Be wary if you’d like to avoid spoilers for the game or it’s single player mode.

4. Ring of Elysium Introduces European Servers

Ring of Elysium is a free battle royale in the realistic style of PUBG. The game’s unique twist is the snowy environment you battle in and the tools you have to navigate said environment. In mid-September, Tencent promised European servers within a month. Well, they’re about a month late but they’re finally here. Ring of Elysium is still in Early Access, but has seen generally positive reviews from players who tried it. The game is available on Steam.

5. Fortnite Adds new Skin Based on 8-year-old’s Drawing

Back in September, an 8-year-old Fortnite player had his father submit a drawing of his to the Fortnite subreddit to show off a skin concept he came up with. Fast forward to now, and the skin has officially been added to the game. The skin, called “Tender Defender,” is a part of the “Fowl Play” set. The chicken warrior skin is paired with the Flappy Flyer glider and the Scrambler pickaxe.

1. Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu Sets Sales Record on Switch
In just one week since their release, Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee have sold over 3 million copies combined. This makes them the fastest selling games ever on the Switch, even beating out The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Although Let’s Go Pikachu has been fairly controversial and polarizing among longtime Pokemon fans, it’s clear that this mixed reception hasn’t negatively impacted sales. The holiday season is just beginning, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the sales continue to climb for the latest Pokemon games.

2. Playstation 5 Backwards Compatible?

After Playstation announced that they will be skipping E3, everybody’s been anxious to hear something about the Playstation 5. Well it seems like we might have some good news. Although nothing is set in stone yet, Playstation filed for patents that suggest the PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 games. This will be great news for Playstation fans if the rumors are true.

3. Get Outcast: Second Contact for Free Until Tomorrow

Outcast: Second Contact is Free on Humble Bundle until November 24th. Outcast: Second Contact is a 2017 remake of the 1999 cult classic open world action-adventure game. It normally goes for $35 on Steam, so it’s a great deal if you’re able to get it in time. The deal is linked below.

4. The Chicken Trooper is Now a Real Skin

The Chicken Trooper which was originally the brainchild of an 8 year-old boy named Connor, is now a real Fortnite skin called the Tender Defender. Connor’s drawing of his Chicken Trooper was posted on Reddit by his father, who asked Fortnite to make it into a real skin. Just 2 months later and the Tender Defender was born. It's pretty cool to see Epic Games engaging their community like this. The Tender Defender is available in the Fortnite item shop for 1500 V-Bucks.

5. All of the Cheat Codes in Red Dead Redemption 2 Have Been Discovered

The remaining unsolved cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2 have been discovered, bringing the total number of cheat codes to 37. The cheat codes are phrases that can be found in newspapers around the world, and some of them you won’t be able to use until you’ve found a required item. You also won’t be able to unlock any achievements or save the game once you’ve activated a cheat code, so keep this in mind before using the cheats. You can find a full list of the cheat codes in the article below.

1. No Man’s Sky Thanksgiving Update Adds Even More Features
We’ve said it a few times now, but it is worth repeating how much good work Hello Games has put into No Man’s Sky since the game’s disappointing release. They released NEXT last month, which added an extensive list of new and updated features to the planetary exploration game. Now a new surprise update called Visions, set to release tomorrow, brings even more to the game. More plants and animals will create even more colorful worlds for you to explore. The highlight of the update seems to be a new archeology system where you can collect and display alien artifacts.

2. Fortnite’s Winter Royale Tournament Starts this Weekend

There is a $1 million prize pool for the Fortnite Winter Royale Tournament, which starts this weekend. Open qualifiers will take place this weekend, followed by European finals next week, and the North American finals the following week. The overall process emulates the structure of the upcoming World Cup Qualification procedure to test it out. You’ll have “several chances” to set a high score this weekend. Good luck qualifying!

3. Obi-Wan Kenobi Coming to Battlefront 2

The Battle of Geonosis comes to Battlefront 2 later this week. Naturally, it will introduce Geonosis as a playable map but we now know it will also introduce the legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s blocking skills will be the strongest of any Jedi in the game. Obi-Wan will also be able to chain together powerful melee attacks to take down his opponents after they fail to break through his defenses. The Battle of Geonosis comes to Battlefront 2 on November 28th.

4. Biggest Pokemon Card Ever Printed

Although Pokemon is perhaps most known for their video games, movies, and tv shows, there is also a bustling TCG that is still very much alive. Earlier this morning a new card was revealed that sets the record for most hitpoints on any Pokemon card, ever. Magikarp&Wailord GX is a Tag Team card, meaning it features both Pokemon and combines their HP. The card has 300 HP, which beats out the old record of 250 set by Wailord on his own.

5. Australians are Currently Locked from Purchasing Certain Steam Games

Steam finally embraced the Australian dollar (officially named, Dollery-doos, right?) but not without incident. Publishers needed to check a box stating they support the Australian dollar but some large publishers, like Microsoft and Konami, forgot. This means a long list of games are currently unavailable for our upside-down friends to purchase. Undertale, Age of Empires 2: HD, Factorio, and Ori and the Blind Forest are just some of the unavailable games. This will surely get sorted out soon, but in the meantime it’s a pretty funny little accident.

1. Fortnite’s Dynamite has been Temporarily Disabled
Epic Games launched a Wild West themed Limited Time Mode this morning and the dynamite they added to it has already been disabled. Apparently the game was experiencing an increase in crashed, seemingly caused by the new explosive weapon. The Wild West game mode restricts players to ‘frontier times’ weapons like the six shooter, shotguns, and hunting rifles. Hopefully dynamite will return soon, as the mode feels a bit lacking without it.

2. Ubisoft Reverts Rainbow Six Siege Censorship Changes

A few weeks ago, Ubisoft announced their intent to implement sweeping aesthetic changes to many of their character models to comply with Chinese censorship regulations. After loud and unanimous community feedback against these changes, Ubisoft is caving to pressure and reverting them alongside the launch of the Wind Bastion update. Hopefully the extra changes being added to the Wind Bastion update won’t delay its release, but Ubisoft has said it is possible that may happen.

3. Civilization 6 Expansion Announced

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is an awesome turn-based strategy game that gives players tons of options for how to play and win. Earlier this morning, 2K games announced the Gathering Storm expansion pack that will release on Valentines Day of next year. The expansion will give players even more ways to play and win, as it introduces geology and climatology to create the feel of a living and breathing world. There will also be a new World Congress, a new diplomatic victory option, and more engineering projects, civics trees, units, wonders, districts, buildings, and more.

4. Warframe now Available on Nintendo Switch

Warframe is a free to play third-person co-op action game that is available on the Nintendo Switch as of this morning. The game has experienced a resurgence in popularity over the last year as the studio that makes it has been pumping out free content updates and listening to community feedback intently. New players on the Switch will get a nice starter pack of in-game items to get them rolling, including 50,000 credits and a 3-day Affinity Booster to level up gear faster.

5. New League of Legends Champion ‘Neeko’ Revealed

Neeko, The Curious Chameleon, was revealed yesterday afternoon as League of Legend’s next champion. The “flower mage” will presumably be played in the mid lane, where she will specialize in tricking her opponents. Neeko’s passive will allow her to take on the appearance of an allied champion to help her confuse her opponents. She has a nice assortment of damaging and controlling abilities, so if you like mages you’ll hopefully love Neeko!

1. Artifact 11/18 Beta Update
Valve has finally lifted the NDA on their highly-anticipated new digital card game called Artifact. Fans of Artifact expressed serious concerns about the game’s economic model, as it felt like everything cost money. The Steam community post from Valve revealed you will soon be able to draft with your friends and practice drafting before moving into the competitive draft modes. Also, you’ll be able to recycle unwanted cards into more event tickets. Although yesterday’s beta update didn’t say anything explicitly about the economic model, Valve addressed some real community concerns that promises good things in the future.

2. PUBG is Fixed, Developer Claims

A few months ago, PUBG Corp. launched the ‘Fix PUBG’ campaign to address community concerns about unacceptable issues with servers, lag, and tick rate. Now, the game’s developer claims PUBG is fixed and the campaign is over. There will still be fixes to the game in the future, but PUBG Corp. believes the game is now on the stable footing it should’ve been on all along. You can try PUBG again to see for yourself on your PC or Xbox One now, or play for the first time on your PlayStation 4 starting on December 7th.

3. Marvel to Publish League of Legends Comics

When League of Legends originally launched, Riot Games put extensive effort into developing the lore behind the game’s champions and the world they fought in. As they became more invested in the strategic balance of the game, lore became less and less important. Well, now Marvel is helping Riot Games revive interest in League of Legends lore with a series of comics and graphic novels. The first comic is Ashe: Warmother, which focuses on one of League of Legends’ most iconic characters.

4. Frostpunk Endless Mode Available Now

Frostpunk is a city building game set in a snowy wasteland and it just got an awesome new mode. Endless Mode, which is now available for free to everyone who owns the base game, is a traditional sandbox mode that you’d expect from a game like Frostpunk. The new DLC introduces endless playthroughs, 3 new maps, 2 new game modes, and a few nice visual additions. If you haven’t played Frostpunk yet and you’re into city building games, you should definitely check it out!

5. DOTA 2 Update Makes some Big Changes

A new update to DotA 2 that launched this morning is sure to shake things up for the MOBA game as it is changing the map, tons of items, and several heroes. 2. Fortnite Takes Down Red Dead Redemption 2 to Win Game of the Year

At this year’s Golden Joystick Awards, there were two clear favorites for Game of the Year: Fortnite and Red Dead Redemption 2. Although most critics favored Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s not hard to see why Fortnite took home the gold. Fortnite is a phenomenon that is bigger than gaming, and there's no doubt that popularity contributed to their victory. Do you agree with the Golden Joystick Awards? What would be your pick for Game of the Year?

3. Stardew Valley has Already Made $1Million on Mobile

Stardew Valley, already a smash-hit on PC and console, is now dominating the mobile market as well. In less than a month since its release on mobile, Stardew Valley has already earned over $1Million. The farming sim/rpg/adventure game has been a fan favorite since it’s initial release in 2016 and is the perfect type of game for a mobile port. Hopefully this will start a trend of great mobile games that don’t rely on microtransactions.

4. Bethesda Lays Out Improvements for Fallout 76

In response to first-week criticisms and complaints for Fallout 76, Bethesda has promised a series of improvements and bug fixes before the end of the year. Although many of the improvements are PC-only, players will be delighted to hear that a stash limit increase is among the top priorities. The first patch for Fallout 76 comes out on Monday.

1. Playstation will NOT be Attending E3

For the first time in E3’s 24-year history, Playstation will not be attending the event. In lieu of E3, it sounds like Playstation has something unique up their sleeves, saying that are looking for “inventive opportunities to engage the community” and that they “can’t wait” to share their plans. What exactly are these plans? Your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully we’ll be hearing some specifics in the near future.

2. West Virginia Makes “Reclamation Day” from Fallout 76 a Reality

In honor of Fallout 76, November 14th has been officially named “Reclamation Day” by the state of West Virginia. Fallout 76, which takes place in West Virginia, has brought significant amounts of attention and tourism to West Virginia, and it's clear the state has benefited tremendously from the game’s publicity. Despite being a post-apocalyptic franchise, the relationship between Fallout and West Virginia has been nothing but positive; making Reclamation Day official is just the icing on the cake.

3. USC is Paving the Way for the Future of Esports

The University of Southern California has just announced the launch of their Esports Union (ESU). Unlike other collegiate esports teams, the ESU will act as a varsity team for the Trojans, helping pave the way for esports as a major sport in the public eye. They are currently focused on League of Legends, which was founded by USC graduates Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill, but they intend to add Overwatch and Super Smash Brothers in the near future. This is a great sign for the future of esports and should help legitimize elite gamers as serious competitors worthy of attention from powerhouse universities.

4. Nintendo Shuts Down Rumors of the N64 Classic

Following the success of the NES and SNES Classic, many die hard Nintendo fans assumed that a N64 Classic would be the next logical step. Unfortunately, Nintendo shut down those rumors, explaining that they only released the NES and SNES Classic as a marketing scheme to promote the Nintendo Switch. Although they didn’t rule out the possibility of a N64 Classic in the future, they have made it clear that they won’t be releasing it anytime soon.

5. Telltale Games is Going Under

After a year filled with scandals and turmoil, it appears that Telltale Games is finally shutting down. Although they had a good run, especially with series like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, it seems that Telltale Games couldn’t overcome their poor management decisions. Many of their games are starting to be removed removed from the Steam Marketplace so now is likely your last chance to buy their games before they’re gone for good.

1. Rainbow 6 Siege Free Weekend is Back!
The Rainbow 6 Siege Free Weekend is back! From November 15-18, you can download and play Rainbow 6 Siege completely free of charge. Any progress you make during Free Weekend will be saved in case you choose to buy the game in the future. During Free Weekend, Ubisoft will also be offering steep discounts on all versions of the game, so now is the perfect time to give Siege a try if you haven’t already.

2. The United States Army is Starting an Esports Team

In an effort to persuade today’s youth to join the military, the U.S. Army has announced that they will be starting their own Esports team. Although there’s no news about which games they intend to compete in, they have made it clear that the teams will be comprised entirely of enlisted, veteran, and active-duty members of the Army. They hope this will make the Army seem more relatable to America’s youth. Could this strategy work? Let us know what you think!

3. New Fortnite Game Mode: Food Fight

Fortnite has released a new temporary game mode dubbed “Food Fight.” Teams (which are divided as Pizza or Burger) will be separated by a giant barrier which allows players to build a defensive fort around their fast-food mascot. Once the barrier falls, players will have to break through the opposing team’s defenses and attempt to assassinate the enemy mascot. You can watch Epic’s promo trailer below:

4. PC Classic Console Announced

The trend of re-releasing the games of past generations is in full swing. Following the success of Nintendo’s release of the NES Classic and SNES Classic, Playstation announced that they will be releasing the Playstation Classic in December. Well, in a move that’s either crazy genius or crazy stupid, one crowdfunding project has decided to take it a step further by re-releasing classic PC games on a new PC Console. The “PC Classic” will contain about 30 games from the ‘80s and ‘90s. You may be wondering why anybody would need to buy a separate PC Console in order to play these classic titles, rather than using the PC they already own. I know I am.

5. Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Beta Coming at the End of the Month

Although no specific date has been given, Take-Two has announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 Online will begin its public beta at the end of this month. There aren’t any details regarding the restrictions of the beta, so all we can do is hope that it will be available to everyone that’s purchased the game. Rockstar has stated that they want to give players plenty of time to complete the story and side quests before releasing the Online version, which means it may be a while before we see a full release.
