The Daily Moot: Big Modern Warfare/Warzone Update!

1. Modern Warfare/Warzone Update
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone are both getting some huge updates today. A new dog-wielding Operator, Talon, is headed to both game modes. Modern Warfare will be getting a new 6v6 map called Khandor Hideout which offers "long sight lines and interior spaces to complement diverse combat ranges." Warzone is getting 4 new weapons, the 725, MK2 Carbine, .50 GS, and EBR-14, which can be found across Verdansk. The update is expected to go live tonight at 11pm Pacific Time.

2. Minecraft Educational Tools

Minecraft has announced that it will be offering free in-game educational tools to help students learn from home. Minecraft: Education Edition will allow players to explore the inside of the human eye and the International Space Station, as well as learn useful skills such as coding. Each educational opportunity has its own world and comes complete with lesson plans that include things such as build challenges and puzzles. All of the educational worlds are launching today and are free to download from now until June 30.

3. Free Hearthstone Decks

Starting on March 26, Hearthstone will be giving away free decks to new and returning players. Players that have been away for at least 4 months will receive a deck for a class of their choice consisting of cards from the Year of the Dragon set. Blizzard hopes that the free decks will “help players feel empowered to jump right in and experience the latest of what Hearthstone has to offer.”

4. Unity Learn Premium Free

Ever wanted to make your own video game? Now is the perfect opportunity to learn Unity, which is easily one of the most popular game engines on the planet and has been used to create games such as Hollow Knight, Escape from Tarkov, and Cuphead. Unity is currently giving away 3 months of Unity Learn Premium, their professional-grade instructional videos. These videos are designed to teach users how to create a video game step-by-step and include valuable skills such a coding in C#.

5. Plague Inc. New Game Mode

A new game mode is coming to Plague Inc. and it’s pretty much the exact opposite of the current game. Instead of trying to destroy the world with your ever-evolving pathogen, the new game mode will have players trying to save the world from a deadly disease. The new mode is being developed "with the help of experts from the World Health Organisation, the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network and more," in an attempt to make it as realistic and informative as possible. The game mode will be free for all players, but a release date has yet to be announced.

The Daily Moot: Half-Life Alyx Launches!

1. Half-Life: Alyx
Half-Life is finally back! Today’s launch of Half-Life: Alyx marks the first return in the Half-Life franchise since Half-Life 2: Episode 2 released more than a decade ago in 2007. While fans will no doubt still be awaiting Half-Life 3, the VR-exclusive Alyx will undoubtedly sate the players who have powerful enough rigs to run the game. Early reviews for the game have been overwhelmingly positive, marking Half-Life’s return to dominance. Half-Life: Alyx is available exclusively on PC.

2. Legends of Runeterra Changes

Riot’s collectible card game Legends of Runeterra is undergoing some changes. These changes are designed to make it easier for players to get new cards and to reduce the cost of extra content like the Expedition draft mode. Weekly Vault rewards have been improved across the board, offering more and better loot as well as a guaranteed Expedition token for level 2 vaults and above. Riot has also removed the experience decay from PvP matches meaning that players will be able to level up much more quickly. Overall these changes should make it easier for new players and veterans alike to get new cards and quickly build competitive decks.

3. Warzone Surpasses 30M Players

In just 10 days since its launch, Call of Duty: Warzone has already surpassed 30 million players. While its status as a free-to-play game combined with the lockdown due to the coronavirus are certainly contributing to the player numbers, this is still an impressive feat nonetheless. In fact, these numbers are competitive with Apex Legend’s launch which took the world by storm. For reference, Apex Legends had 25 million players in its first week and over 50 million players in its first month. Do you think Warzone can beat those numbers?

4. Artifact 2

Despite the catastrophic failure that was the release of Valve’s TCG Artifact, all signs are pointing to a re-release of the game. Valve has apparently been working on the game nonstop and said they want to “try again” and are“getting ready to release” a revamped version of the game. Valve was apparently very surprised when the game flopped initially; we’ll have to see if they were able to learn from their mistakes and find better success in their second attempt.

5. GameStop Closing All Storefronts

After first trying to label themselves as an “essential” business amid the coronavirus lockdown, GameStop has now announced that they will be closing all US storefronts. Although the storefronts will be closed, GameStops will still be operating on a digital level and will remain open for curbside pickup.

The Daily Moot: Animal Crossing: New Horizons

1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is finally here! The first main-series Animal Crossing game in nearly 8 years, New Horizons has easily been one of the most anticipated Nintendo games of 2020. The real-time life sim has opened to rave reviews and currently boasts an impressive score of 91 on Metacritic. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has both single-player and multiplayer game modes and is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Check out our Animal Crossing lounge below to stay updated and find new friends to play with!

2. Xbox Live and Nintendo Online Outages

Both Xbox Live and Nintendo Online have suffered outages due to increased traffic on the services. As many people are staying home due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, gaming has seen a huge boost of players as it offers one of the best forms of indoor entertainment. Playerbase numbers are up across the board and it’s unlikely that they’ll be going down any time soon. Hopefully Xbox Live and Nintendo Online can quickly make some changes to their infrastructure to ensure a stable connection for their users.

3. YouTube and Netflix Reducing Video Quality

YouTube and Netflix are both reducing video quality in Europe. This is in an effort to reduce stress on the systems and prevent overload outages which have affected other services such as Xbox Live and Nintendo Online. Although it may seem unfortunate to have the video quality reduced, this will likely result in an overall better user experience as it should prevent any lag that would occur due to high traffic and bandwidth usage. As of right now, this preventative measure is expected to last 30 days and only affects users in Europe.

4. Riot Boosting Server Capacity

There’s a very clear theme for today: people are staying home, playing games and watching videos, which is causing increased stress on servers. Riot Games explained that North American League of Legends servers were hitting 90% capacity which caused log-in queues and extended queue times. In an effort to combat the stress, Riot has announced that they are boosting the servers to increase the maximum capacity of players.

5. GDC Rescheduled

GDC 2020 has officially been rescheduled. After postponing the original Game Developers Conference due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, GDC 2020 will now take place this summer from August 4-6 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. While some of the content that was planned for GDC has been released online (such as the IGF Awards), there will no doubt be plenty of great new content unveiled at the event later this year. Furthermore, GDC organizers have assured fans that GDC Summer will feature an immersive two-day expo show and “retain the same high level of expert-led talks as the traditional GDC.”

Anyone else having problems with the Q&A?

For some odd reason whenever I try to post an answer, it never gets posted. Is it because I post there too much or something? I just want to know so that way I can dim it down a little, at least that way I know that I didn't break anything, I tend to break a lot of sites and games without meaning to. If someone can please give me a heads up on what I may have did wrong that'd be awesome, thanks so much! <3

The Daily Moot: DOOM Eternal is Here!

1. DOOM Eternal
DOOM Eternal is finally here! One of the most anticipated games of the year, DOOM fans have been waiting for Eternal for nearly 4 years. Described as a “celebration of excess in sin, violence, scale, speed, and volume,” early reviews for the game have all been overwhelmingly positive. DOOM Eternal launches today at 9pm Pacific Time in the United States and at 11pm GMT in Europe.

2. GDC and IGF Awards

After the postponement of this year’s GDC, organizers decided to host certain parts of the convention online. Thankfully, one of those parts was the annual Game Developers Conference Choice Awards and the Independent Game Festival Awards. For the GDCA, the stacked field included games such as Control, Disco Elysium, and Baba is You, but it was ultimately the fan-favorite Untitled Goose Game that earned the title of Game of the Year. For the IGF Awards, the big winner was A Short Hike which took home both the Seumas McNally Grand Prize as well as the Audience Award.

3. Get Watch Dogs and The Stanley Parable for Free

This week’s free games from the Epic Games Store are both fantastic goliaths. Watch Dogs is a third-person action game where you play as a masterful hacker on a quest for vengeance. The Stanley Parable is a strange first-person narrative experience that, although undeniably odd, is universally acclaimed and has earned a cult-classic status among fans. You can download both Watch Dogs and The Stanley Parable for free from the Epic Games Store from now until March 26. As long as you claim the games before March 26, they are yours to keep forever.

4. Tekken 7 Fahkumram

A new character is headed to the Tekken 7 arena. Making his first appearance in a Tekken game, Fahkumram is a muscle-bound fighter covered in scars. Once considered a local hero in Thailand and a Muay Thai legend, his career was halted after he was struck by lightning when he was 12 years old. Fahkumram was able to overcome the adversity, eventually becoming a Muay Thai champion by the age of 18, but his personal life was still riddled with hardship. Fahkumram will join the Tekken 7 roster as part of DLC 14&15 on March 24. Check out the trailer below.

5. City: Skylines Expansion

Popular city builder game City: Skylines is getting a new expansion next week called Sunset Harbor. The expansion will introduce fishing to the game which will allow players to control fishing boats and fish farms, adding a new commercial element to the game. The expansion will also include 5 new maps, each featuring different climates. The Sunset Harbor expansion is expected to launch on March 26, although the price has yet to be revealed.

The Daily Moot: PlayStation 5 Reveal

1. PlayStation 5 Reveal
The PlayStation 5 specs have finally been revealed! For processing power, the PS5 will feature 8x Zen 2 Core CPUs at 3.5GHz and a 10.28 TFLOP custom GPU with 36 CUs at 2.23GHz. While these numbers may seem a bit lower than the Xbox Series X specs, Sony explained that the PS5's custom RDNA 2 GPU is optimized and "improved in ways beyond teraflop count, such that it will offer power beyond that expected from it.”

The console’s internal storage will be a custom 825GB SSD. Again, Sony has explained that the SSD has been modified to provide extremely quick launch times and to eliminate long patch installs. 825GB seems like far too little storage space for a next-gen console but unlike the Xbox Series X, additional storage can be added using off-the-shelf components. Now that both consoles have been revealed, which one are you looking forward to the most?

2. Overwatch New Hero

Overwatch just revealed their upcoming new hero, Echo. While we don’t know too much about Echo, we do know that she was designed by the creator of the Omnics in order to “help the world.” Echo has technically been in the game for years, appearing in cinematics as well as on map Route 66. The launch of the new character will bring the roster total to 32, although it’s unclear whether Echo will be an attacker, defender, or support. Check out the reveal and origin story below.

3. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Free Weekend

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is having a free weekend from March 19-22. While you won’t be able to keep the game after March 22, dedicated players should be able to beat the main storyline during the 4-day stretch. The game is available for pre-loading now so that it’s ready to play when the free weekend starts tomorrow. If you end up loving the game but aren’t able to finish it, you can take advantage of a 75% discount which will be available during the free weekend. The free weekend is available to all PC, PS4, and Xbox One players.

4. Blizzard DDoS Attack

Blizzard’s Battle.net had a rough day yesterday as players were unable to log into their accounts or had to sit through long queues in order to do so. For those that were lucky enough to log in, many were experiencing extremely high latency and were getting disconnected from their games. Blizzard has explained that this was the result of widespread DDoS attacks on the servers, primarily aimed at Call of Duty: Warzone. Blizzard is currently investigating the issue which was affecting players around the globe.

5. GameStop Cancels Midnight Releases

GameStop has announced that they are cancelling the midnight releases for DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is, of course, due to the Covid-19 coronavirus. GameStop has also decided to shut down all interactive gaming stations in their stores for the time being. While it may be unfortunate for those who like to collect physical copies of games, if you were hoping to be one of the first players to get their hands on DOOM Eternal or Animal Crossing: New Horizons, your best bet is to buy a digital copy.

The Daily Moot: Warzone Solos, Fortnite Choppas

1. Warzone Solos!
Call of Duty Warzone now has a solos mode! While fans assumed that solos would eventually make its way to the game, nobody could have expected it to arrive so soon. Like squad mode, if you die in solos you’ll be sent to the Gulag with the opportunity to come back to the battlefield if you win your 1v1. While there are no standard knockdowns because you have no team to revive you, there are still self-revive kits available in the game mode so keep that in mind both for yourself and for your enemies. Warzone is free to play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and solos mode is live now!

2. Fortnite Helicopters

Fortnite has just added its latest vehicle to the game, this time enabling players to soar the skies with the new Choppa. Although the helicopter doesn’t come equipped with any weapons, it has room for 1 pilot and 4 passengers, enabling teams to rain down terror from above. Pick up one of the Choppas at the previously vacant helipads across the map and put your flight skills to the test. The update also included changes to the Oil Rig and Pleasant Park football pitch, so be sure to check those out for some new scenery. You can see the new Choppa in the brief, Deadpool-featured launch video below.

3. PS5 Deep Dive

PlayStation 5’s lead architect, Mark Cerny, issued the statement that fans around the globe have been waiting for. Tomorrow at 9am Pacific Time, Sony will reveal a “deep dive” into the PlayStation 5, likely providing similar information to yesterday’s Xbox Series X reveal. As we mentioned yesterday, it’s been quite the waiting game between the two console goliaths, but it’s pretty hilarious to see Sony do their reveal just 2 days after Microsoft. This could mean that Sony didn’t have to make any changes to the PS5 after Microsoft’s reveal, and are confident that the PS5’s specs can easily go toe-to-toe with the Xbox Series X. At any rate, we’ll have plenty more information tomorrow as the console war really starts heating up.

4. Cyberpunk 2077 Development Update

Amid all the cancellations and postponements as a result of the Covid-19 coronavirus, one project is still maintaining its deadline. Although all the developers are now working from home, CD Projekt Red issued a statement saying that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be delayed and that the September release date will not be changed. While it’s encouraging to hear that the game is still on pace, this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard a similar statement only for it to be retracted a few days later.

5. New Hearthstone Class

Hearthstone is adding a new class to the game called “Demon Hunter.” The Demon Hunter will be the game’s 10th class in total, and will likely drastically change the meta. The Demon Hunter’s hero is Illidan Stormrage and his ability costs 1 mana and gives your hero +1 attack for the turn. The new class is expected to arrive on April 7 alongside the launch of a new expansion called Ashes of Outland.

The Daily Moot: Xbox Series X

1. Xbox Series X
The complete specs of the Xbox Series X have finally been revealed! It’s been a long waiting game between the upcoming Xbox and the PS5 with each console slowly releasing information in hopes of being able to one-up the other. Xbox has finally taken the leap and the specs are certainly impressive. Featuring 8x Zen 2 Core CPUs at 3.8GHz and a 12 Teraflop custom GPU, the Xbox Series X should be able to handle the most graphically intensive games and provide ray tracing with ease.

While the system’s power is undeniable, there is one concern: its only storage is a 1TB SSD. Having an SSD is great of course, but with modern games easily running up to 100GB you’ll likely fill up your storage very quickly. Fortunately the Xbox Series X provides a port for external storage, but unfortunately the port will only accept a proprietary drive that’s currently in production by Microsoft and Seagate and it’s unknown how much the drive will cost. So, while the Xbox Series X should be able to run any game flawlessly, you’ll likely have to pick and choose your gaming library wisely in order to avoid having to uninstall and reinstall your games.

2. Nintendo Indie World Showcase

Nintendo has just announced an Indie World Showcase livestream set for tomorrow at 10am Pacific Time. The livestream will feature approximately 20 minutes of info about upcoming indie games that are headed to the Nintendo Switch. Considering that there aren’t many major releases scheduled after next week’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Indie World Showcase should be a great opportunity for Switch fans to find some new great games to look forward to.

3. Steam User Record

Amid the widespread self-quarantine, many people have turned to one of the best indoor comforts on the planet: gaming. This has been a huge boom for Steam, which just broke its own record for concurrent users. As counted by SteamDB, there were over 20 million unique concurrent users on Steam yesterday, with over 6 million of those in-game. CS:GO is currently the biggest beneficiary, topping the Steam charts with over 1 million concurrent players this weekend.

4. Halo 2 for PC

After the surprise launch of Halo: Combat Evolved a couple weeks ago, 343 Industries is ready to bring more Halo games to PC. Both Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary are set to begin testing this month, with Halo: Reach Forge and Theater soon to follow. The studio described the testing as a way to “get early access builds out to our Halo Insiders before they reach the public.” Depending on how smoothly the early testing goes, 343 Industries expects a public test flight to be ready by the end of March.

5. Warzone Hits 15 Million Players

In less than 1 week after launch, Warzone has already hit over 15 million players. As Call of Duty’s latest take on the battle royale genre, Warzone has seen a warm reception from the gaming community. Despite some issues with bugs and lag, players from PC, PS4, and Xbox One have all flocked to duke it out in the 150-person battle to the death. Warzone’s impressive player count is no doubt bolstered by its free-to-play status, but it clearly offers a unique and refreshing take on the battle royale genre. If you’re still on the fence about downloading Warzone, check out Ryan’s in-depth review of the game below.

Just one day after yesterday’s announcement that the League of Legends European Championship would continue without a live audience, the LEC has now decided to suspend the remainder of Spring Split entirely. This is apparently due to an LEC staff member coming in contact with the coronavirus. In happier news, Riot just released a new cinematic for the upcoming Fiddlesticks rework and let’s just say it’s perfectly timed for Friday the 13th. Check it out below.

2. Destiny 2 Erases Trackers

A recent Destiny 2 update at the start of the new Season of the Worthy has angered the most dedicated Destiny players. The surprise update redesigned the emblem system in the game, and in the process deleted many of the stat trackers associated with them. These trackers were the primary way of recognizing some of the most difficult and time-consuming achievements in the game such as Crucible win streaks, gold medals, and massive Empyrean restoration donations. At first assumed to be a bug, Bungie confirmed that the removal of the trackers was intentional which only angered fans more. Fortunately Bungie has retained all the player data, so it’s possible that these trackers could be re-implemented in the future.

3. Control Expansion

Control, the action-adventure game that found itself atop many “Game of the Year” lists last year, is getting its first-ever expansion. The expansion is called “The Foundation” and it will be the first of 2 planned expansions for 2020. During The Foundation, players will finally find out what happened to Helen Marshall after she ominously declared she had to “go check on something” and then disappeared. The Foundation expansion is set to be released on March 26.

4. New Valorant Details

Riot Games just released some new details about their upcoming competitive shooter, Valorant. Most notable is that the starting roster will have 10 characters who are called “agents.” Of these 10 agents, 5 will be playable at launch while the other 5 will have to be unlocked via in-game or real-word currency. Of the 10 agents that will be available at launch, 8 have been revealed: Brimstone, Jett, Phoenix, Sage, Sova, Cypher, Viper, and Omen. Riot also mentioned that there will be both a free and a paid battle pass and re-emphasized that there will be no way to pay for gameplay or power advantages. This includes things such as skins that could provide a competitive edge. Which agent are you planning to main?

5. Stardew Valley Secrets

According to Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, there are still hidden secrets in Stardew Valley that have yet to be discovered. For a one man team, it’s incredible how much Barone has been able to put into Stardew Valley, and it’s no wonder that the game has remained incredibly popular since it first launched over 4 years ago. If you want to be the first to find all the hidden secrets, then you’d better hurry; a new free update is currently in the works that will undoubtedly add more easter eggs for you to find.

The Daily Moot: The Witcher 4

1. The Witcher 4
There’s apparently a new Witcher game in the works at CD Projekt Red. In a recent announcement, CD Projekt Red president Adam Kiciński explained that the team had a “clear concept” for a new Witcher game and that they would begin development immediately after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Interestingly, Kiciński was clear to iterate that the new game would not focus on Geralt as he considers that storyline to be complete. Who do you think will be the main character of the new Witcher game?

2. Changes to Major Esport Events

Another day, another cancellation. The Covid-19 coronavirus has deeply afflicted the gaming industry in pretty much every facet. Now, some of the most prominent tournaments in esports have felt the impact. Overwatch League has banned live audiences. The ESL One Dota 2 Major originally planned for March 20 has been cancelled, although it may occur at a later date. The League of Legends Championships for North America and Europe will no longer be held in stadiums, but rather in the LCS and LEC studios, and will have no live audiences. Furthermore, there will be no live audiences, no tailgates, and no press allowed for the rest of Spring Split. While unfortunate, it is certainly understandable that organizations want to protect the health of their players, personnel, and fans.

3. Guild Wars 2 Expansion

In a recent update post, ArenaNet just revealed plans for a third Guild Wars 2 Expansion. It’s been 3 years since the most recent expansion, Path of Fire, was released, so fans will definitely be excited for something new. Unfortunately it seems that the expansion won’t come for some time, as details are very limited and it doesn’t even have a name yet. In the meantime, next week’s update “Visions of the Past: Fire and Steel” should provide enough content to keep you occupied until more information about the third expansion comes out.

4. Overwatch Lead Writer Leaves Blizzard

After more than 20 years with the company, Michael Chu is leaving Blizzard. Chu initially began as a game tester for Diablo 2, but during his tenure his influence has stretched far and wide. He worked as writer and world designer for games such as Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft before transitioning to the role of lead writer for Overwatch. Chu is responsible for much of the lore and origin stories beloved by Overwatch fans so his absence will almost certainly be noticed. There’s no word yet on what Chu plans to do after leaving Blizzard, but it will be very interesting to see how his departure will impact the upcoming Overwatch 2.

5. Comic-Con Still Going On

San Diego Comic-Con, one of the largest conventions in the United States, is still expected to happen (at least for now). This news comes just after the cancellation of Anaheim’s WonderCon. The state of California has banned all gathering of more than 250 people, so clearly SDCC is expecting the threat of the coronavirus to have died down by Summer. As of right now, San Diego Comic-Con is planned to begin on July 23.

The Daily Moot: RIP E3; New Ori Game

1. RIP E3
E3 has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 coronavirus. This news comes just one week after E3 announced that they were moving “full speed” ahead with the event despite concerns. Organizers had hoped that the planned June date would be late enough in the year that the virus would have died down by then, but it appears they are now taking a precautionary approach. Considering the struggles E3 has had in recent years, it seemed that this year’s convention was their chance to regain relevancy amid the cancellation of so many other gaming conventions. Instead, this may be the end of E3 altogether as it joins GDC, SXSW, and many other events that have been cancelled due to the virus.

2. Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The new Ori game is finally here! The sequel to the critically-acclaimed metroidvania Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps follows a similar structure and early reviews have all been overwhelmingly positive. The Ori games are quite possibly the best Microsoft-exclusive games of this generation, so it’s definitely something that Xbox and PC players don’t want to miss out on. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available for $30, as well as via Xbox Game Pass, and is exclusively on Xbox and PC.

3. Xbox and Ubisoft Digital Events

Following the cancellation of E3, Xbox and Ubisoft have both announced plans to hold their own conventions. While there aren’t many details yet, we do know that both events will be exclusively digital. It is expected that Xbox will provide some big details about the upcoming Xbox Series X and that Ubisoft will finally shed some light on their 5 secret AAA titles planned for the coming year. Expect more details in the coming weeks.

4. Epic Games Store Wishlists

Seen as the primary threat to Steam’s dominance in the digital gaming marketplace, the Epic Games Store has often been criticized by fans for its lack of “basic” features. One of those basic features has now been addressed as the Epic Games Store has finally added wishlists to its service. While this feature alone isn’t likely to sway Steam loyalists to make the swap, it is a small step in the right direction. For now, it seems the big selling-point of the Epic Games Store will remain to be their free weekly game giveaways. This week’s free games are Offworld Trading Company and GoNNer; Anodyne 2, A Short Hike, and Mutazione are next week’s free games and will be available starting tomorrow.

The Daily Moot: Operation Void Edge is LIVE!

1. Operation Void Edge is Live!
Operation Void Edge is now live! The newest season of Rainbow Six Siege brings 2 new operators: a defender named Oryx and an attacker named Iana. There’s also plenty of quality-of-life improvements, such as a reworked Oregon map and changes to debris consistency across the game. A new battle pass is also coming soon, with 35 tiers and over 50 rewards. Check out the official launch trailer below!

2. MSI Delayed; Rift Rivals Cancelled

Due to (you guessed it) concerns about the Covid-19 coronavirus, one of the biggest tournaments in all of League of Legends, MSI (Mid-Season Invitational) has been delayed. In some ways this is good news, as fans were concerned the tournament would be cancelled altogether. MSI will now start on July 3, right in the middle of Summer Split. Riot also announced that Rift Rivals has been permanently discontinued and that they are looking for a new type of international tournament to replace it.

3. GDC Online

It seems that GDC 2020 may be happening after all. While the physical event has been cancelled, GDC organizers announced today that they will be streaming all the talks online for free. While this won’t include every lecture that was expected to take place at the conference, it’s certainly better than nothing. Furthermore, they announced that their annual IGF Game Awards will also be streamed online. GDC 2020 will be streamed on GDC’s Twitch channel from March 16-20, with the IGF Awards on March 18.

4. Sea of Thieves Update Delayed

The upcoming update to Sea of Thieves, “Heart of Fire,” has been delayed. Originally expected to launch tomorrow, it seems that the last-minute discovery of a game-breaking bug has thwarted those plans. There’s no word yet on when we can expect the update to release, but Rare has promised to “share information regarding a new release date for this update within 24 hours.”

5. Horizon Zero Dawn Coming to PC

After more than 3 years as a PlayStation exclusive, Horizon Zero Dawn is finally headed to PC. This news comes directly from the head of Sony Worldwide Studios, Herman Hulst. While this is definitely great news for PC fans, it also comes with a grain of salt. In his statement, Hulst asserted that Horizon Zero Dawn is more of an exception than the rule, and that players shouldn’t expect more PlayStation exclusives to make their way to PC.
