My advice would be to complete skull forts with some friends and for a weapon load out have a sword and a pistol/shotgun, also you should probably only play SoT when you have a group of friends otherwise you will probably get attacked and your loot will be stolen. Good luck out there bud!

I would just do some voyages for Gold Hoarders until you have 20k gold and then buy an emissary flag to get bonus money when the flag is raised wich you can do right next to the gold hoarders tent. Reach emissary level 5 en sell all your loot. Then you get x2.5 gold. Good luck on sea.

If you want some tips on how to play the game, I have a few that can really help ya out!
1: Grabbing supplies on the island-Grabbing supplies from barrels before you set sail is very rewarding but can take patience. You might find nutritious food or some cannon balls with special affects.

2: fighting tactics, Lunging is a critical way to give damage to the enemy with it’s cool down. If you held a basic lunge you may have notice your movement speed really tanks down, if you hold defend and you begin to lunge, you can move as fast as the normal walk speed. If you hold defend with your sword and jump, you do a leap, which can be useful is having to jump away from the enemy or having to jump to it. If you lunge off a ledge (lunge into water ofc) you will have a launch, this can be perfect for having to board a boat in time or not having to swim all the way to your boat
3: Throwables: these are my favorite mechanics in sea of thieves when I board, or fighting off enemies, blunder bombs are bombs with a punch and can make the enemy fly, fire bombs, (I bet you can guess what they do) are great
Since fire can give off damage, as it can spread from boats, just be careful with it
4: Fishing: If you have nothing to do at the moment, let’s say your friend had to do some 10 minutes chores and will be back and he doesn’t want you to start without him, fishing is a great way
to get nutritious food when it’s cooked.
5: Angle sails: adjusting your sails to the direction of the wind is a fast way to get you where you’re going
6: damage to your ship: If your sail is down, run to your ropes where you can raise or lower the sail, raise the sail all the way until it takes you off and repair the mast with wood as quickly as possible, patching up holes and flushing your ship is essential.
