IMPOSTER STRATEGIES
Let’s face it. In Among Us imposter is the most fun part of the game, besides maybe getting both imposters out after two rounds. Imposter may be the most fun, but it’s also very difficult to know what to do and when to kill. I want to go over what I usually do when I’m imposter and show many strategies that you can use. First let’s lay some ground rules for understanding.
DECEPTION
In Among Us it’s a game about deception and fast reactions. For example if you on accidentally kill someone in front of another person you might be able to get away with reporting the body and shifting the blame. If your good enough at lying it might just be easy to shift blame like that. A great tool to use is saying, if it’s not him it’s me. This of course means that you will die next round if confirm ejects are on, but it still gives you a chance to get one or two more kills to help your imposter buddy. Now only use that if your in a situation where you don’t have a lot of people vouching for you.
SABOTAGES AND VENTS
Being Imposter means you can both sabotage and vent, two things a crewmate can’t do. This puts you in a position where you have the ability to get away with murder easily. For example if there is no one except one person in electrical and you go in there as imposter, you should kill the guy then enter the vent in the top left corner of the room to either security or medbay. Make sure the coast is clear then hop out of the vent and carry on. Vents can lead you to basically anywhere in the map if you go to the right places, but make sure your not caught venting because then everyone can see your the imposter. Next is sabotages, this is a very important feature in the game. It allows you to make everyone stop what they’re doing and fix reactor and o2 or shuts doors on everyone slowing down tasks and even lets you shut down the lights to make a sneaky kill easy to do. Personally I like to use lights because it allows for killing to be easier and faster since you can see normally while the crew mates can only see partially if at all. I like to sabotage reactor when it’s in a 2v1 situation because most times the crew mates know it’s you and will call and emergency meeting to vote you out, but if you call reactor or o2 they are forced to go do it making way for an easy kill.
FAKE TASKS
Crew mates have a list of tasks that they do and if they finish them all they win. Imposters have something similar, they have fake tasks. This basically means that they can go to where a task would take place and sit there “doing the task” when in reality they are waiting for a time to strike and also trying to make trust. Be cautious when you do this though because when an imposter does a fake task the task bar doesn’t go up basically meaning that a crew mate can easily tell if you faking it or not. Be careful when doing a fake task because it can be called out and give away who you are as an imposter.
