well, tbf I am more proud of the intel rig. I had everything but the mobo and the cpu from an older amd rig. And I bought the mb and the 2600k for 100$ combined lol.. I just couldn't pass such a good deal. So I dug up an old case (still pretty decent Thernaltake case with bottom psu positioning so its fairly modern) and I helped wifey to build her first pc. That's why I feel this rig as more special to me :D And this old i7 is still amazingly capable. It manages to hold 80-120fps in every game I throw at it (on 1080p though).

I have bad memories from FX chips.. The old amd rig I mentioned in my previous post was running 8350 (the 9000 series are basically slightly factory oc 8000) and that cpu was my biggest mistake ever. The FX chips run so HOT even with monstrous coolers and perform really bad in the games which are not utilizing more than 2-3 cores. For example - for a few months I played with ancient i3 2120 - it outperformed the 8350 in every game. Both running the same GPU - R9 280X and the same amount of ram (8). The most noticeable was GTA V, I just couldn't believe it. But this was the final nail in the coffin - I just straight away stripped the amd pc and sold the mb+cpu. The FX was kinda good for a while, when I bought it when it released but it aged so bad...(and also very fast which no one expected tbh).

Yea my rig doubles as a space heater for sure. It stays a lot cooler now since I put in a better airflow case and bought high end fans. I had to buy a big dbl fan cpu cooler for it. It’s supposed to be water cooled. The old amd video cards run hot as hell also, so I run my cards way down so they stay cool. Whenever I build a new rig the wife will take this one
