Glacial Rangers Comp

Rangers are getting popular after 9.14b patch. This build requires Statikk Shiv on Ashe to trigger 100 splash damage. It not only deals extra damage but also increases the chance of freezing your enemy units when you are running Glacials.

In early game, focus on creating a couple of Statikk Shivs. After Ashe, Varus is your second champion you wanna stack items with. Make Red Buff, Hush or Sword Breaker. Even Rapid Firecannon if you have lots of Recurve Bows.

How to POSITION Tanks

Your tanks are the main damage sponges of the team and without them, your team becomes highly vulnerable so knowing how to position your tanks correctly is very important.

Your tanks should be placed in the furthest cell on the board in front of your team so your tank always gets focused first and later you can change and optimize the positioning according to your remaining opponents.

In case you are running Glacial, you can place Leona and Braum in the middle hexes of your team and they can better grant the Armor buff to more allies.

If you are running a Yordle team with Elementalists or Sorcers, place your Yordles in the front line as they can easily evade attacks. Same rule applies if you are running a Noble team. Place them in the front since they are very tanky and place your sorcerers in the back.

KNIGHTS & ASSASSINS in Patch 9.15

1>KNIGHTS GOT A HUGE BUFF
The biggest change in this patch, I think, is the buff that Knights finally received. Instead of just blocking a tiny portion of basic attack damage, Knights will now provide a defensive boost to the entire team. So just 4 Knights can block 30 damage from every ability and attack from an enemy use. On top of that, they also got significant armor buff as well.

2>ASSASSINS NOW MOVE DIFFERENTLY
Assassins just got more complicated to deal with. They have more specifics regarding how they interact with the game, for example, they move faster than other units and jump earlier. So now by the time Assassins jump, the other team may not have moved and this makes positioning and countering for Assassins even more important.

Teamfight Tactics Patch 9.15 Notes

The defensive Origins and Classes got more beef. Knights, Guardians, and Nobles will not from a more solid frontline and give their defensive bonuses to your whole team.
The amount of health players lose every round was decreased to allow more viable strategies around win and loss streaks. Ninja trait has been reworked, Demons got nerfed, Dragons now care a bit about magic damage and Pirates make more money.

Best TFT (9.15) Items

Cursed Blade:
It's a must have item for Gunslingers. With this item, they hit multiple enemy units at once and they can demote at least 1 enemy unit each fight.

Dragon’s Claw:
It provides 83% resistance to magic damage. If you have to counter that annoying Aurelion Sol, you wanna put this item on.

Warmog’s Armor:
This is a great early game item. Put this on a tanky champion and they will become almost invincible. Huge advantage in early game.

Rapid Firecannon:
If you main DPS carry uses auto attack, you want a Firecannon to double the attack range. It also keeps attacks from being dodge.

Guinsoo’s Rageblade:
Guinsoo’s is a great on almost all AD or AP carries.

Rabadon’s Deathcap:
Increases the champion’s spell damage.

Phantom Dancer:
This is a defensive item. The wearer dodges all critical strikes. It'll help your team survive gunslingers or rangers on the opponent team.

Force of Nature:
Force of Nature gives you +1 team size which is obviously a huge advantage.

How to POSITION your RANGERS

First of all, you gotta keep your range DPS units protected as much as possible. Place units like Guardians right next to your range units will help absorb large amount of the incoming damage.

However, it can be a challenge to protect your ranged carries in the early game.
You can try Scarra's Y-FORMATION to better protect your ranger in the early game.

This formation requires 4 units.

LEFT SIDE:
ROW 1: Place 2 units (Tank on the Right & Melee DPS on the Left)
ROW 2: Place your range carry right behind them
ROW 3: Place another melee DPS to take care of assassins.

RIGHT SIDE:
Exactly the same as the set up from LEFT SIDE only mirror image for the first row (Tank and DPS switch position)
Y formation will optimize your melee DPS output while preventing assassins from diving straight onto your range unit.

Optimal Positions
Early Game: Adopting the Y position mentioned above will shut down many Assassins. If you’re experiencing more issues with the likes of Ahri and Graves then move to a more traditional setup with your range units on row three(Backline) and tanks on the first row.

End Game: There are multiple scenarios to bear in mind when calculating the best positions for your range units. Two general factors will be your build and enemy setups. If your primary source of damage is your range unit then you’ll want to box them in. Tanks at the front, guardians/melee DPS to the sides, however, if your damage is spread throughout the team then you may want to guard the range unit with just the one guardian or Melee DPS.

NOTE
-You need to keep your range units safe and protected. nay position that leaves them open and vulnerable needs to be fixed.

-Make sure you remember that unlike other range carries, Tristana, Ashe, and Varus have a range of 4 grids so just remember to adjust accordingly.

4 Best Team Comps (9.14b)

Positioning:
Mostly Standard. Keep your Knights up front and Rangers behind them.
Run a Zeke's Herald on Varus and line up the units you want to receive the buff.

Positioning:
Line up your weaker minions alongside Morgana to receive shield from the Locket of the Iron Solari. Aatrox is your main tank so keep him in front.

Positioning:
Standard corner positioning. Insulate your Volibear to avoid damage being too easily applied to him. Blitzcrank is the wild card of this build in term of where to place it. Place Blitz furthest away from the enemy unit he should pull.

Positioning:
You don't have any tanks with this comp early on, so keep Lucian in front and keep other units away from harm. Once you get into later stages, Cho'gath and Sejuani should set up as your units that can absorb some damage.

The BEST 9.14b Comps: YORDLE SERIES 1, 2 and 3

1 DEMONIC YORDLES [Tier: S]
This comp heavily relies on AoE of Morgana, Kennen and Aatrox while Eve and Veigar cleans out whatever is left. You get a very sold mid game with this comp and it'll have you stay out of bottom 4.

Early Game:
Build brawlers/nobles/knights to survive the early stages. Try to get the Lockets of the Iron Solari at the first carousel.

Mid Game:
After you reach level 6, start rerolling to find your key units. You need Kenne, Morgana and Aatrox.

Tips:
-Stick the Darkin on Pyke, he'll ult after 1 attack.
-Lockets will give you a boost in early game
-Put appropriate items on Aatrox(Gurdian Angel), Kenne (Morello), Morgana (Locket). They can be your carry .

2. MAGE YORDLES [Tier: A]
Combine full 6 Yordle buff with one powerful Morgana and you're unstoppable. This compe is especially very effective against assassins and auto-attack based comps.

Early Game:
Pick up gunslingers, pirates and yordles you see. You have to have early Lulu and Morgana if you wanna make this comp work.

Mid Game:
Position Morgana and the rest of your team in the back row with Locket on Morgana.
With 3 yordle bonus and lots of AOE, you should have no trouble sailing through mid game and look for the rest of your yordles.

Tips:
-Your No. 1 priority is finding Morgana and equip her with a Locket. She'll carry your early game.
-If you cannot find a Locket, use a Phantom Dancer instead, and later stack it with Gunblade and Dragon Claw.

3. GUNSLINGER YORDLES [Tier: B]
Your opponent will find you annoying and difficult to kill with this comp. This comp is also effective against Assassins and auto-attack based comps.

Early Game:
Pick up gunslingers, pirates and yordles you see. See what you get and decide which of above 3 yordle comps you'll go for. If you decide to go for Gunslinger Yordle comp, sell the pirates and start looking for all Yordles.

Mid Game:
Roll for Tristana. Lulu enhance the survivability of your team. Save gold till level 7 and complete this comp.

Tips:
-Sword Breaker and Curse Blade are effective on Gunslingers
-Have at least 4 on hit items among Lucian and Tristana.
-Red Buff will do wonders since it spreads to all enemies with gunslinger buff and denies healing.
-(Optional) Get Miss Fortune, turn her into a sorcerer. It'll complete the ultimate comp.

Tips on Ranking UP

ONE
Do not force a comp you want. You wanna be more flexible especially in ranked. You have no idea which champion you will get and not to mention that items you get will influence which composition works the best for you. If you find yourself with lots of belts, you load up Swain, Shyvana or Barum. Or if you have number of Bow, you know you'll be looking for Volibear or Draven. If you get lots of lockets, they go well with almost any spell casters. So the comp you end up with maybe way more situational than you think. Again, be flexible.

TWO
Do not let your items go waste by sitting them on the sidebar the whole time. Build something, anything and put them on your key champions or anyone is better than dying with 4, 5 items just sitting on the bench. If you don't have the right component parts and cannot build what you want, you can at least put just one item on a champion. It'll make a huge difference especially in the early game.

THREE
Don't be afraid to level up. Yes, it is important to hit that 50 gold mark ASAP for maximum econ. However, if you can level up right after the PVE and carousel rounds, you'll get better, stronger champions and you're more likely to win individual matches. and that could lead to win streaks. The higher level you go, you'll be dishing out more damage to your enemy so level up!

FOUR
In Mid to Late game, start scouting your opponents' boards and get a sense of what they are trying to do and which champion they need desperately. Remember it and when you see the champion they need, buy them out! (unless it takes you below 10 gold mark). Denying your opponents of crucial units they need is just as effective as building a perfect comp.

Tips on Reroll & Leveling - "Do not! unless..."

Do not REROLL unless...
you just have to upgrade this key unit or your main carry which will result in a major power spike for your team.
Generally, it's a bad idea to reroll when you only have low impact, weak units to upgrade.
Lastly, before you reroll, take a quick look at other players boards and see what they already have and what they are building towards and guestimate the probability of you getting the unit you had in mind. If it's low, not worth rerolling.

Do not LEVEL unless...
you are only 4 gold away from a level or you will not go under your 10th gold mark (10, 20, 30, 40, 50) after leveling. Additionally, it's usually a good idea to level if you are already strong and you want to keep your win streak.

TFT Sorcerer Positioning Tips

Your objective with Sorcerers in TFT is pretty straightforward. You just need to keep them alive long enough so they can ult at least a couple of times per battle. Basically you want them in the back of your team and gain mana until they can ult.

However there are always exceptions to this rule, like with Kennen or Morgana. Since they have very large AoE ults, you want to position them rather strategically then just in the back so they can hit as many enemy units as possibly. It all depends on specifically which Sorcerer you have picked, and you want to place them on the board accordingly. The goal is to get the most out of their ult ability.

For example, Aurelion Sol is best placed in the far corner of the grid so he can hit as many enemy units as possible when he ults. Kennen and Morgana needs to placed close to the action (row 2) so you can maximize how many enemy units they can hit.

PATCH 9.15 - Major Changes coming to TFT

There are no actual changes on the PBE just yet, Riot Mort shared some of the current plans on his twitter.
https://twitter.com/Mortdog/status/1154828783423119361
In this upcoming patch, Ashe, Kindred, Karthus and Yasuo are all getting buffed and the Guardian and Pirate traits are getting improved.
These 4 champions are very likely to affect how the META moves forward especially with the upcoming nerfs to Kennen, Ionic Spark, Demon and Dragon traits.
Additionally, Riot revealed that they are reworking Knight, Ninja, Noble and Void traits.
With the amount of changes implemented with patch 9.15, the TFT meta is about to change completely.

Riot also mentioned they are looking to make more adjustments to Glacial and Demon in the future. Those changes will probably arrive with Patch 9.16.
