Apex Legends - Legend Tier List - Season 7 Split 1

Apex Legends is a game that requires constant balancing and tweaking within the legend pool to make sure that one legend doesn’t solely dominate the play-scape of the entire game. In Season 7 we have seen the addition of Horizon which has certainly shaken up the legend-tier landscape just as it had in Season 6 when Rampart was introduced, and in Season 5 when Loba was introduced. Every season things get shaken up with all of the tweaks, reworks, and side-works that are introduced at the start and we see where all of the chips land. In this guide, we will be exploring which legends are ranked as S-tier, A-tier, B-tier, C-tier, and D-tier giving brief explanations and summaries for each legend. Let’s hop right into things!

S-Tier   Horizon Horizon finds herself atop the Season 7 S-Tier list and is currently crowned the king of the Apex Games. This is solely due to how perfectly her kit works with the new map Olympus. Her mobility with her passive and tactical make for an outstanding variety of plays to choose from, and her ultimate adds the perfect amount of team play to an already balanced kit. Respawn outdid themselves with this one!

Bloodhound Bloodhound re-captured everyone’s heart in Season 6 when he was side-worked to have increased speed in his ultimate and faster scan-cooldown. Since then, Bloodhound was ranked in A tier for the past tier-ranking list but it is now clear that the hound isn’t just here for a good time but a long time as well. Bloodhound’s kit is perfect for any team and can make any group better. And if it comes down to it, his scan can truly be the difference between a win and a loss in the endgame.

Wraith Wraith finds herself in S-tier still but boy is she hanging on by a thread! Wraith went through a few tough changes at the end of Season 5 and the start of Season 6. Wraith’s tactical ability was changed at the end of season 5 to be used more as a reposition or gap closer rather than a get out of jail free card along with nerfing her ultimate-portal’s distance. At the end of Season 6 her ‘naruto-run’ was taken away to make her running player model the same as everyone else. Since then she has still found viability at the top but it’s clear that one more nerf or change could be the end for Wraith’s 7 season-long run at the top spot.

A-Tier   Revenant Revenant soared through the tier lists at the start of Season 5 when his tactical ability had another silence added to its arsenal and his ultimate became time-based rather than time and distance-based. Since then, Revenant has seen more viability in Seasons 6 and 7 especially on Korean and Japanese servers. This is because of his aggressive push-heavy kit that can be paired up with other powerhouses like Bloodhound, Wraith, or Caustic to make a truly scary comp.

Gibraltar Gibraltar has fallen down a wrung and now finds himself in A tier in Season 7. Gibraltar is an amazing defensive legend that gives your team everything they need to succeed. One weakness he has on the new map is how spread out different areas can be to travel to and how dome shield can only offer you so much protection in a wide-open field. Though he isn’t a top dog in this split, it can largely be adjusted by playing more safely and choosing the shortest, most-safe route with your team.

Pathfinder Pathfinder had his grapple reworked last season which was ultimately seen as a failure by the community but saw an alternative rework this season which has pathfinder mains in a much happier place! His grapple is now distance-based and the cooldown timer starts much sooner making the maximum cooldown possible 35 seconds rather than the previous 42-second possible timer. Not only is the updated cooldown nice but his zipline gun is the perfect travel companion on Olympus! It’s great to see everyone’s favorite, or least favorite, robot back in viability!

Caustic Caustic still finds himself among the leaders of the more powerful legends that Apex has to offer. Especially with the updates this season to his gas canister and ultimate gas dealing much more damage - though they no longer have the stun effect! With the new updates - Caustic no longer requires buildings to thrive - his gas does enough damage now to sustain himself with his team for out-in-the-open team-fights!

B-Tier   Bangalore Bangalore finds herself in B-tier once again! Bangalore is a great middle-of-the-pack journeyman type legend to choose - it seems as though she will always be good no matter the season, map, or circumstance. Bangalore has a great kit for the wide-open landscape of Olympus with her double-time passive, cover smoke, and artillery strike Ultimate!

Lifeline Lifeline moved down a tier this season with Olympus coming into the mix because other legends are currently more important choices for the team. When Lifeline received her major changes in season 5 the meta shifted toward her because of how strong her auto-revive was on King’s Canyon and World’s Edge. Now that we have a much more open map in Olympus, it’s clear that balanced legends who can stand on their own are doing better than legends that cater to a specific playstyle.

Crypto Crypto finds himself in B-tier for this season for the same reason that Lifeline does - balance is the key to a strong legend on the new map, Olympus. Crypto has a great kit for scouting and offers a ton of perks to his team. From scanning enemy positions to his EMP ultimate, picking up teammates' banners with his drone and respawning them remotely as well - he can truly do it all - he is just a niche pick because of how far behind he can get especially with how spread out the map is. Use Crypto if you can keep up with your team and still position for team fights safely.

C-Tier   Wattson Wattson finds herself in C-tier for this season because of the lack of mobility that her kit provides. Olympus has a lot of ground to cover between certain locations and can be quite treacherous for legends that don't have any escape-abilities. She also is a niche legend that requires a team to be built around a more passive, bunker-down playstyle. On a map that requires every legend to hold their own - Wattson doesn’t offer enough to earn a top spot.

Loba Loba had a few tweaks to her black market ability at the start of Season 7 that bumped her from D-tier up to C-tier. She received a quality of life buff of starting each game with her ultimate at 50% to make looting easier for her team more efficient as well as receiving a faster cooldown for her ultimate. Her black market ultimate was also changed to allow all players who access it to take as much ammo as they can carry for ‘free’. These changes were all great ways to give Loba a faster initial return on investment for her team.

Octane Octane just can’t seem to make the cut as far as legend tier lists go for any season. Truly what sets him back is the lack of team play that he offers. His jump pad is a great tool to use to cover distance, to get to hard to reach spots, and even to use during teamfights to cause confusion. In most cases, however, the average player can’t use Octane’s kit optimally to gain a team advantage -- especially on a map like Olympus!

D-Tier   Mirage Mirage once again finds himself at the bottom of the legend tier list and it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Mirage lacks continuity and teamplay in his kit on a map that requires teamplay and balance in a kit to survive. Mirage is a great legend for solo-play and fun outplay potential but just doesn’t cut it for higher-tier play.

Rampart Rampart is a confusing legend because of how poorly she has been received by the apex legends community and how little playtime she has received. All in all - Rampart isn’t a bad legend to choose - she has a balanced kit for holding down positions and bunkering-down with teammates. Truly her passive is what is holding her back from viability - perhaps this is the key to changing her kit and bringing her into the spotlight!
