POPULAR Apoxlite’s Quick n’ easy Apex Legends Guide: Landing
Welcome to the second part of Apoxlite’s quick n’ easy guide! I will be focusing on how to move around while landing and the best spots for different play styles. Let’s get straight to the point!
MOVEMENT WHILE LANDING
You may think landing in Apex is similar to fortnite but it’s actually not, once your team has picked their characters you will appear on a ship. The third person who has picked their character will be the jump master, if they are afk the role will pass onto the person that picked second.
If you are the jump master you have to press E or square in PS4 to jump out of the ship, your two teammates will follow you to your sides. If you look to the left of your screen you can see a speed meter, to the right there is an altitude meter with the ship, ground and sea level marked.
If you aren’t the jump master you will follow the jump master but you can de-attach from them by holding square on PS4 or hold F on PC (recommended to de-attach at 200 m in altitude)
To move you press W or you move the left joystick up, your character will move in whichever direction you are looking. The lower you look, the more you will go down and more speed you will gain. Looking in front of you will move you forwards but you will decrease your speed. To get somewhere far and land the quickest you can use the wave-drop technique. Here’s an image of how to do it correctly.
With this technique you can travel 1000m. If your drop spot is less than 700 m away you can just go straight down to it.
If you land anywhere around the edge of the map you will be alone except for 1 or 2 squads near you. Artillery, airbase and water treatment are more probable to have around 3-5 squads.
Landing in the center of the map will usually mean more people and more kills (or chances to be killed).
Every match there is a loot ship that goes to a destination and stays there, dropping to it while it’s still flying to its destination will usually result in your death or a lot of good loot early in the game.
There is a hotspot every match marked with a blue ray of light and a blue circle on your map that contains purple rarity loot and a chance to get a golden weapon (more explained in the loot guide). This area contains 5-6 squads and tryhards.
Every match places will be marked as mid-tier loot, high tier loot or normal loot. When you enter an area with a name a text on the top left of your screen will appear displaying the name of the area and it’s loot. Here’s a map by apexmap.io (very helpful website) about the loot tiers in every place on the map.
Purple - high tier loot
Blue - mid tier loot
Grey - low tier loot
And this marks the end of the second part of Apoxlite’s quick n’ easy guide. Hope this helped!
POPULAR Legend Guide #9: Octane
1. Passive (Swift Mend): Automatically restores health over time.
Octane’s passive restores health at a rate of 1 health per 2 seconds. It stops working while you’re in combat or while you’re under the effect of your tactical ability.
2. Tactical (Stim): Move 30% faster for six seconds. Costs health to use.
At the cost of 10 health, Octane moves 30% faster for six seconds. This ability has an extremely low cooldown of 2 seconds, meaning that you can use it basically nonstop. If you have less than ten health you can still use your tactical and it will not kill you.
3. Ultimate (Launch Pad): Deploy a jump pad that catapults teammates through the air.
Anybody can use the jump pad, both teammates and enemies. If you hold jump right when you step on the jump pad, you can jump even higher and farther.
---------------------Tips for playing Octane---------------------
1. When to use your tactical
We all know that getting a gun early is critical for success. You should use your tactical as soon as you land so that you can loot faster and be the first one to a gun. When fighting, your tactical can give you a great opportunity to flank an enemy while your team engages, allowing you to surprise the enemy from behind them. Likewise it allows you to constantly reposition in fights so you can hit enemies from angles they don’t expect.
2. When not to use your tactical
As fun as it is to sprint all around the map, you should never use your tactical without purpose. The 10 health per use really does add up and you generally don’t want to be using it several times in a row. It’s important to remember that teamwork is the key to success in Apex and if you’re running out ahead of your team it’s very likely that somebody gets caught out in a 3v1 or 3v2 which can cost you the game. For the same reason it’s also important not to use it to rush into a fight before your teammates can assist you. This is why it’s important not to use your tactical simply because you can. While your tactical is a fantastic and powerful ability, it can easily get you killed if used unwisely.
3. Using your ultimate
Your ultimate is a good tool for running away and a great tool for attacking. A jump pad can be used to quickly close the distance and surprise enemies or to quickly access hard to reach places that give you an advantage. Your ultimate gives your team great advantages in fights because it allows you to engage enemies by jumping behind them or taking the high ground. Although it’s long-range jump engage may seem similar to a redeploy balloon, Octane’s ultimate is much better because it allows you to keep your gun out and shoot while your jumping and landing.
4. Understanding your passive
Your passive does not heal you for a lot, 1 health every 2 seconds means that it would take you about 3 minutes to fully heal using your passive. This means that you shouldn’t rely on your passive to heal you for more than 1 or 2 uses of the tactical. If you plan to use your tactical more than twice in a row, you should plan on using a syringe or med kit afterwards, because 30 health can be very significant in a fight. Remember, a syringe heals you for 25 health which is roughly equal to 3 uses of Octane’s tactical. It’s also important to remember that your passive will not work while in combat, while under the effect of your tactical, or while in the storm. For this reason it’s very important to be careful when using your tactical in the storm or in Caustic gas as they all deal damage directly to your health and your passive will not heal you.
POPULAR APEX Quick guide - 09. PISTOLS
Fire Rate: 2.6
Ammo: Heavy Rounds
Tactical/Full Reload: 2.10s/2.10s
Projectile Speed: 18000
Draw Time: 0.25s
ADS Movement Speed: 100%
Wingman is one of the most sought-after and the best all-round gun you can get your hands on in Apex Legends. It's got a decent rate of fire and damage with high skill ceiling.
What makes this gun exceptionally versatile is that you can shoot an enemy at any range and you don't really have to have good attachments to make it powerful.
Fire Rate: 8.5
Ammo: Light Rounds
Tactical/Full Reload: 1.25s/1.25s
Projectile Speed: 18500
Draw Time: 0.25s
ADS Movement Speed: 100%
This gun is pretty much one of the all-round weakest gun you find in Apex Legends... of course after Mozambique. Maybe you can use P2020 as the early game weapon for awhile but sooner than later you will have to find a better weapon. This is a very quick gun and you can deal decent amount of damage from a very close distance or medium range.
Fire Rate: 13
Ammo: Light Rounds
Tactical/Full Reload: 1.74s/2.12s
Projectile Speed: 19500
Draw Time: 0.25s
ADS Movement Speed: 95%
With Re-45, all you have to pay attention to is aiming your gun in the right direction. It trades a bit of damage and reload time on the P2020 to be fully automatic.
It's got a good size clip which is always nice. Notice its horizontal and vertical recoil. You need to know how to counter the spray pattern to be effective.
POPULAR Apex Legends Lounge Guidelines
This glorious lounge is where our community comes to discuss Apex Legends. As with all Lounges across Moot, this Lounge expects that all participants adhere to our Content Policy: https://moot.us/etc/contentpolicy
Post things in the correct board and only content directly related to Apex Legends (and reasonably paired with Titanfall at times). Please avoid low-content posts, simply because they clog things up. If you post art, please give proper credit to the original artists. Any unrelated content will be moved to the Off Topic board.
About the boards:
• FEATURED will self-populate based on post popularity, unless a moderator decides to Feature a post because it's great.
• GENERAL is for anything unrelated to the other boards, as long as it's still related to Apex Legends.
• LOOKING FOR GROUP is for finding other Legends to squad up with. This goes both for straightforward LFG posts as well as just looking for platform-specific friends.
• MEMES is where the memes never die. Expect the Mozambique critiques to reign supreme, or be bamboozled for all eternity. Post your memes here, and try not to go crazy with copycat posts.
• HIGHLIGHTS is for those videos and other posts of your greatest and most legendary of exploits. Also, if you want to brag about your wins. If you’re proud of any accomplishments, Highlights is the best place for that type of content.
• PROMOTIONS is for our streamers, content creators, clans, and discord collectives to share what they have to offer. If your supposed highlight videos seem focused on self-promotion more than content, they’re best off here as well.
POPULAR What should Respawn's #1 priority be right now?
While Apex is still popular and as fun as ever, it's no longer destroying Fortnite like it used to. There are a lot of contributing factors to this, including a lackluster Season 1 Battle Pass, too many crashes around release, and hackers infiltrating the game. Respawn undoubtedly wants to get back on top of Fortnite, so what should their top priority be?
I think it should be dealing with hackers. On PC at least, it seems like there's a hacker in a game more often than not. While hackers aren't invincible and a good coordinated team can take them down, it's still very unfun to play against and can simply ruin games.
Their second priority should probably be creating better and more accessible cosmetics for Season 2. The cosmetics right now are certainly sub-par and the Battle Pass is extremely underwhelming. Respawn is gonna need to do a better job creating cosmetics in order to give the game a boost for Season 2.
These is just my opinion though and things may be different on PC than console. Do you think I'm right? What do you think Respawn's top priority should be?
POPULAR Apex Legends: LTMs?
Would different game modes work in Apex?
● Zombies (CoD style)
● Mozambique here! (All weapons are replaced with the Mozambique, Care packages contain gold Mozambiques)
● Gun Game - Strongest (guns like Spitfire) to weakest (P2020, Mozambique)
What do you think?
