The event also confirmed that Resident Evil 8 will be releasing sometime in 2021. Prior to the official announcement, rumors about Resident Evil 8 surfaced online almost every day. As expected, the upcoming installment to the survival horror franchise will be the "darkest" and "most gruesome" Resident Evil game of all time. Resident Evil 8's debut trailer also confirmed that the game will be played from a first-person perspective similar to that of its 2017 predecessor. Moreover, the preview confirmed that the game will be set in a remote village, and players can expect enemies that are in the realm of the supernatural such as the previously rumored werewolf-like creatures.
