Yo I need a group of people who are down to boost me through the game a bit, new character made lol
[MHWI Build] Pierce HBG
Most of HBG in MHWI is Shotgun (Spread Ammo Lv 3, Zinogre HBG)
But I want to recommend you to try this HBG which is very powerful.
1. Skills & Equipment
Formal Pierce HBG skill set.
Critical Eye, Ammo Up, Critical Boost, Weakness Exploit, Peak Performance, Ballistics, and Piercing shots.
If you already made a setting for Legia Shattercryst in MHW, you can use the same skills.
Q : Then why no Franz Glacia, Legiana Tree?
A : Franz Glacia and Baleful Night has almost the same Ammos. There are several different Ammos anyway, but not that important.
Franz Glacia has 405 ATK DMG and 0% of Affinity, Baleful Night has 390 ATK damage and 20% of Affinity. But Baleful Night doesn't support any Elemental Ammo (Franz Glacia supports Flaming and Freeze Ammo)
It means Baleful Night can be affected by Non-elemental Boost Skill. With this skill, Baleful Night has even higher ATK DMG than Franz Glacia. There's no other choice for Pierce HBG but Baleful Night.
2. Augment Equipment & Bowgun Mods
Recommend to Affinity Increase and Attack Increase for Augment Equipment.
With one Affinity Increase and Critical Eye Lv 7, we have 70% of critical chance. If we shoot at the monster's weak point, it makes 100% critical even without wounds.
Now the more important part is Bowgun Mods.
We 'SHOULD' set Power Barrel and Special Scope.
1) Power Barrel increases the piercing rate of Pierce Ammo dramatically. (Probably more than double!) Without Power Barrel parts, there's no reason to do Pierce HBG.
2) Special Scope also increases Bowgun DPS really high. Press L2 + △ + O while you draw the weapon, the hunter equips special scope. When you try to shoot the Ammos after equip the scope, your sight will turn into like FPS game. There's huge DPS gap between Special Scope and normal mode so you should always equip the scope before the hunt.
1 Recoil Suppressor to make recoil of Pierce Ammo 3 low, and 2 Ranged Attack Up for more DPS. You can change one of Ranged Attack Up parts to Shield parts for your survivability.
3. How's the DPS?
Better to see this short video against Tempered Savage Deviljho.
Usually, it deals 25~35 DMG per each pierce. but when it goes to the weak points or wounded points, it deals more than 40 or even 50. One Pierce Ammo 3 pierces more than 10 times so can you guess how much of damage it dealt?
4. Pros & Cons
1) High DPS
- it has very high DPS if you can pierce the monster straight. If you're playing solo, Palico Skill (Shield Stooge) will help you a lot. On the online play, it's getting easier to wounds the monsters so it will increase your DPS more.
2) Firing from a far distance
- Pierce Ammo HBG is basically a long-ranged weapon. With Ballistics skill, it's range is even getting longer. You can open fire from a safe place.
3) Easy to Augment Equipment
- Baleful Night is Rare 11 weapon which means very easy to Augment Equipment. We only have 3 pieces of Rare 12 Armors so only need 3 Great Spiritvein Gem.
4) Especially good for long or wide monsters
- Like Uragaan, Deviljho, Bazelgeuse, Namielle, Shara Ishvalda. They have very long or wide-body so Pierce HBG can unleash the full potential. They cannot take the damage from this HBG.
1) Unstable DPS
- Pierce HBG has high DPS, but only happens when you position yourself in the right place. If you position the wrong like the side of the monster, your DPS will get decreased a lot.
2) Low Survivability
- In this build, we do not set Sheild parts for Bowgun mods. And the Special Scope narrows your view so you always be prepared for rolling. If you missed, you'll get serious damage with only one hit.
3) Not very good in certain situations
- Pierce HBG deals high DPS against the large monsters. But in case of Bird Wyverns or other thin or small-mid sized monsters, its DPS getting very low.
Yian-Garuga, Odogaron, Tigrex, Nargacua, Paolumu etc are not so good opponents for Pierce HBG. So you need to consider one more time before you take this HBG on your hunt.
So this is what I recommend for you today. Why don't you try this Pierce HBG and feels the vibration from the controller?

MHWI 11.01 Update applied
Today, MHWI 11.01 Update Include Rajang, The Guiding Lands was just applied.
Check below for more detail.
Getting kicked from servers
Am I the only one who gets kicked from the squad and can’t join an online session until later on??
What monsters will be appeared in Volcano Region in Guiding Lands?
Capcom officially announced that Rajang Update will be 10th Oct. (JST)
With this update, Rajang joins Iceborne and the Guiding Lands will expand its area to Volcanic Region.
Now what we're looking for is, what monsters will join the Volcanic Region. So I made a prediction of the list of the monsters.
First, of course, Rajang. This screenshot is from Rajang trailer.
Capcom said you need to visit the Guiding Lands at least once to face Rajang.
The background, none of this kind of background exists in MHW or Iceborne. Now it's clear that the background is Volcanic Region of the Guiding Lands.
You'll see Rajang for the first time in there.
Kirin had no cutscene in MHW and Iceborne. But there was a Kirin's cutscene from Zinogre Trailer.
The background is perfectly the same as Rajang's.
I think all hunters know about the relationship between Rajang and Kirin that Rajang eats Kirin's horn to fire his thunder breath. Definitely there will be Kirin in the Volcanic Region and probably turf war between Rajang and Kirin.
While other flagship monsters who newly joined in Iceborne (Nargacuga, Glavenus, Tigrex, Zinogre) were playing in the Guiding Lands, this guy was sadly excluded.
But since the Volcanic Region appeared, there's a perfect stage for Brachydios.
4. Dodogama, Uragaan
Formal Elder's Recess monsters.
I'm not sure that there will be Lavasioth because Jyuratodus did not join the Guiding Lands even though there was Wildspire Region.
5. Teostra & Lunastra
Another Elder Dragons for Volcanic Region. I think explanations no needed.
6. The Hidden Monster
When you reach Lv. 6, there would be a hidden monster just like other regions.
The first monster that we can imagine is Furious Rajang.
Since there's Savage Deviljho and Seething Bazelgeuse, we can expect Furious Rajang as well.
But there's a condition to be a hidden monster.
Let's look at the list below.
Forest - Scarred Yian-Garuga
Wildspire - Gold Rathian
Coral - Silver Rathalos
Vale - Brute Tigrex
all hidden monsters have the same level as flagship monsters. But Rajang is too strong to compare them.
Luckily (or unluckily) we have a perfect monster who meet the above condition.
Based on the flagship monster of MH3U, appeared in MH4U for the first time. Has same power level as other hidden monsters. Will he really join Iceborne?
Thanks for your read and let's guess about the list together!
The reason why you should make your look formal
You could be bothered
[MHWI Build] Insect glaive (No glaive)
Yesterday, Hunters in Korea found a sensational build of Insect Glaive.
It called Insect Glaive, but actually there's no 'Glaive', just insect. You'll see what I mean.
1. Skills & Equipment
Do you see something's already gone wrong?
No Attack Boost, Weakness Exploit, Crit Boost, Critical Eye or anything.
The skills what we get is Defense Boost, Earplugs, Divine Blessing, Health Boost and many Res skills.
I made the custom for all Res because I'm lazy to change my equipment
but if you want to make it better, just set specific Res for each type.
Look at this Defense and Res!
More than 1,100 Def and maximum 31 Res.
The best weapon for this is Coral Pukei-Pukei of Water Elemental Tree.
It has Elemental Boost for Kinsect Bonus and 2/1 slot.
2. Augment Equipment & Custom Upgrades
both Augment Equipment and Custom Upgrades are going for Defense.
You'll see the reason why do I do this.
3. How to Play & About Kinsects
First, we (Hunters) don't do anything.
The one who will do everything is Kinsect.
Before we test this, let's check the Kinsects first.
The Kinsect what we need is Foliacath III Forz.
It has Lv 14 Power, Lv 20 Speed, Sever Attack Type
Another option is Vezirstage III Forz but it has too low Speed, so I recommend you to make Foliacath due to command reaction delay.
You need 5 of this Kinsect for each elemental type.
Now, this is the test.
On the field, get some slinger pod and draw your weapon.
On this screenshot, I got a stone which is the most common slinger on the field.
Press L2 + Triangle + Circle While you have a slinger.
This command is 'Kinsect Charge'. It will consume one stack of the slinger and empower your Kinsect depends on what kind of slinger it was.
If it was slingers on the field like stone, brightmoss or something, it will increase the stamina of your Kinsect. It shows yellow insect mark on the Kinsect stamina gauge. You can see its stamina gauge has increased.
If it was slingers from the monsters like slinger bomb or piercing pod, it will increase the damage of your Kinsect. It shows red insect mark on the same spot.
This is the point. You 'SHOULD' always keep this red buff to your Kinsect.
When your Kinsect did not consume any slinger or has a yellow buff, it deals 34 damage in the Training Area. Such a disappointed.
But when your Kinsect has a red buff, its damage has dramatically increased. More than double yellow buff.
Now, this is how to play.
1) Feed your Kinsect some slinger pod which will grant red buff (Most of the time, fastest way is clutch to the monster and weapon attack so that it will drop slinger pod)
2) Press L2 + Triangle + Circle to Charge your Kinsect
3) Once your Kinsect has a red buff, aim the monster and spamming L2 + Triangle.
Aim their weak point is the best but it's almost impossible so just spam it.
4) When the red buff goes down, refill it
The Kinsect has their own status so they don't care about the hunter's skills
Slugger, Power Prolonger, Part Breaker, Stamina Thief or other skills are not applied.
So we, the hunters only care about our survivability. That's why we have no Attack Boost, Weakness Exploit, Crit Boost, Critical Eye or anything.
About Canteen, choose only Veggie Platter to prevent elemental blights.
4. Pros & Cons
1) Hyper durability
- It has more than 1,100 Def and with Veggie Platter, all Res is more than 30. When I test against Tempered Namielle, I was able to survive with 30% of HP after being 4 hits of his breath.
- Only what you need to do is obtain slinger from the monster and feed it to the Kinsect, spamming L2 + Triangle and just survive.
3) Stronger than you think
- To Velkhana, the Fire Kinsect deals usually 70 to 80 damage.
To Namielle, the Fire Kinsect deals 40 to 50, or 60 to 75 damage depends on his water absorb states.
To Savage Deviljho, the Dragon Kinsect deals 50 to 75 damage
it has really high attack speed so it has fast clear time than you think
- You'll know the reason
- After hundred times of spamming L2 + Triangle, you'll have no feeling with your fingers LUL
3) Possibility to be nerfed
- This is an absolutely awkward way of hunting. I don't think Capcom will allow this. It could be nerfed this coming up Rajang update.
[MHWI Build] Crit Draw HBG
Last time I've introduced Claw Switch Axe to you.
Today, I'd like to share Crit Draw HBG build for you.
This build is HBG, but more like Crit Draw GS build.
Weapon: Hornking Blazooka (Diablos)
- Customize: 4 Close Range Up, 1 Shield
- Has the highest attack damage but -20% affinity
- You can remove this penalty with Augment Equipment (10%), Attack Boost Lv.4 or more (5%), Critical Eye Lv. 1 (5%)
Armors: Equip 4 Velkhana armors for Frostcraft and Shara Ishvalda glove is the best choice for Crit Boost.
Skills what you should get is Critical Boost, Critical Draw, Quick Sheath, Non-elemental Boost, and Frostcraft
Frostcraft will automatically appear with Velkhana armors.
Other 4 skills (Crit Boost, Crit Draw, Quick Sheath, Non-elemental Boost) are the same reason as Crit Draw GS build.
You can get Attack Boost and Peak Performance for more damage, Divine Blessing and Health Boost for more tank.
4) How to play
The way to play this HBG is really simple.
1. Wear mantles.
2. Claw Shot to the Monster (Prioritize for the head, but anywhere is OK)
3. Weapon Attack
4. After Claw Shot Attack, sheath the weapon and use Claw Shot again
5. Repeat Step 2 to 5
You don't even need one single Ammo to use this HBG.
When you sheath, Frostcraft starts charging its gauge and activates when you start Claw Weapon Attack. It causes Crit Draw and increases affinity for 100%.
Each Claw Weapon Attack causes wound on the monster's body so after second Claw, you can deal with increased damage.
It deals usually 600 ~ 800 damage (if it's wounded) at once so easily cause groggy to the monsters
But beware! When Rocksteady Mantle or Temporal Mantle goes down, it's getting hard to use Claw Shot to the monsters.
Happy Hunting with new type of HBG!
Resident Evil X MHW Iceborne crossover! Nov 2019!
[MHWI Build] Switch Axe
I want to introduce and share some interesting settings for Iceborne.
First settings of all that I'll introduce is Switch Axe.

Head: Empress Crown β+
Chest: Golden Lunemail β+
Arm: Empress Vambraces β+
Waist: Empress Coil β+
Leg: Golden Lunegreaves β+
Critical Eye 7
Divine Blessing 5
Tool Specialist 5
Critical Boost 3
Weakness Exploit 3
Power Prolonger 3
Health Boost 2
※ Lunastra Essence 3 & Gold Rathian Essence 2 Required
You can add some more skills depend on your jewels
- Total Required Materials
Lunastra Cortex x 9
Lunastra Mane+ x 3
Lunastra Shard x 6
Lunastra Lash x 1
Lunastra Hardhorn x 3
Teostra Powder x 4
Elder Dragonvein Bone x 6
Large Elder Dragon Gem x 1
Gold Rathian Cortex x 12
Gold Rathian Shard x 9
Gold Rathian Surspike x 4
Rath Gleam x 4
Dragonvein Solidbone x 8
Guiding Wasteland Dragonbone x 3
Monster Solidbone x 5
Rathian Surspike x 3
Rathian Shard x 5
Rathian Cortex x 4
Pink Rathian Shard x 4
Pink Rathian Cortex x 3
Rathian Mantle x 1
Upgrade the weapon from Rathian tree, Rathbringer Axe II
- How to play
Way to handle this setting is very simple.
1. Wear Rocksteady Mantle (Temporal Mantle)
2. Attack with Sword Mode until you become Amped State
3. Clutch to monsters with Claw Shot
4. Make wound on its weak point (or anywhere)
5. Once you complete step 4, keep using Claw Shot and then Zero Sum Discharge (△+○)
6. If your Amped State went down or wounds on monsters are healed, repeat step 2 to 4
7. Repeat Claw Shot and Zero Sum Discharge
The most important skills in this settings are Divine Blessing 5 (Gold Rathian Essence) and Tool Specialist (Lunastra Essence).
This type of Switch Axe only uses Zero Sum Discharge except when Sword gauge is run out.
To keep Zero Sum Discharge stable, we need Rocksteady Mantle & Temporal Mantle. Both Mantle makes Zero Sum Discharge always hits so we reduce its cooldown via using Tool Specialist Lv.5.
When Rocksteady Mantle is on, we keep on damaged while using Zero Sum Discharge so we get Divine Blessing Lv.5 to reduce the damage we take and 'SHOULD' augment the weapon with Health Regen.
Switch Axe's Amped State doesn't last so long so we take Power Prolonger Lv.3 to extend the duration of Amped State.
Critical Eye, Critical Boost, Weakness Exploit are basic DPS skills.
- Pros and Cons
1. Powerful: Gold Rathian Switch Axe has the highest ATK damage (1015), same as Ruiner Nergigante's. And it also has poison damage which adds more damage.
2. Sharpness: Not like normal Elemental Discharge or Zero Sum Discharge, Claw Shot Zero Sum Discharge doesn't spend the sharpness. It means if only you have enough Sword gauge (Amped State), you can keep repeat and repeat Zero Sum Discharge without minding your Sharpness.
3. High DEF: 3 parts of your armours are Lunastra's, other 2 parts are Gold Rathian's. They have the highest DEF in Iceborne. This is very helpful to Switch Axe which is always hunt the monsters with very close distance.
1. Hard to Augment Equipment: Include the weapon, all parts are rare 12. To Augment Equipment the armours, it requires 5 Great Spiritvein Gem which has an extremely low drop rate.
2. Unstable without Mantles: Zero Sum Discharge is always unstable skill to strike. Both Rocksteady and Temporal Mantle stabilizes it and Tool Specialist Lv.5 dramatically reduces the cooldown, but there is still some period that both mantles are off. When it comes, you will feel much harder to strike Zero Sum Discharge.
[Tip] How to farm Gold Rathian Surspike in 2 min
Gold Rathian Surspike always brings us trouble to make its armors or weapons.
Basically we need to sever its tail or break its back, but both ways are pretty hard to do.
So there is a very simple, easy and fast way to farm Gold Rathian Surspike.
1. Post Special Arena quest of Gold Rathian
If you captured Gold Rathian in Guiding Lands or anywhere, there will be a Special Arena quest.
2. Ride on Gold Rathian (Recommended to do it with GS)
GS is the best weapon to ride on monsters with one hit.
3. NEVER, NEVER attack
- This is really important. To make it sure, you should not attack while you're on the monster. if you attack the monster when you're riding them, the pattern could be cancelled.
4. Wait for Gold Rathian's pattern
If you successfully ride on the monster, Gold Rathian will do one of these 2 patterns.
1) Head to the wall and strike its back on it to shake hunter off
2) Shake its body just like a rodeo
The Key pattern is 1).
When Gold Rathian strikes its back to the wall, it causes 'Part Broken'.
5. Keep ride on!
But when Gold Rathian strikes its back, it shakes hunter off from her (whether you keep press R2 button or not)
So before she strikes her back, move your position to the head or tail to keep the ride on and then return to the back after.
6. Repeat this 3 times
If Gold Rathian strikes its back to the wall for 3 times, her back part will be broken.
7. Return from the quest
- NOT 'Abanddon'! If you just return from the quest, Special Arena quest will be still there so you can post it again to farm Surspike.
Notice) Not only Surspike drops from back part broken but also Cortex. But never mind, you can post the quest again!
If you're having a hard time to hunt Gold Rathian or suffered by Surspike, how about this way?
Looking for tips
I have no idea what I'm doing with the switch axe and I'm coming from the Glaive and also apparently there are builds that I'm just not paying attention to and I only seem to run solo so I'd like a bit of advice.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne - Prepare for the COLD
It's a bit obvious, but you need to consume Hot Drinks to keep your stamina gauge from gradually shrinking. Hoarfrost Reach has a bunch of Hot Peppers to gather that turn into Hot Drinks, but it’s always smart to just bring the max of five with you in your pouch. Hot Drinks can be purchased at the Provisions Stockpile.
Not too far into the campaign, you will be gifted a Warming Jewel from the Field Team Leader. You have to remember to speak with him when the exclamation mark is over his head to get it. But the Warming Jewel, when equipped, lets you hunt in Hoarfrost Reach without needing Hot Drinks. Once you get this useful Decoration, we recommend using it on all quests in Hoarfrost Reach.
Hoarfrost Reach has areas of thick snow that will slow your movement speed. Certain skills can buff this, but you can also bring energy drinks along with you that will help preserve stamina while sprinting through the thick snow.
a bit about ARMOR in MHW Iceborne
1. Upgrade your armor
You’ll have to start Master Rank with your gear from High Rank. The first expedition sees you come across a Beotodus. If you can slay it during the expedition, that’s great. If you’re having trouble, however, look around for ore to mine.
Without slaying a monster, you can craft two sets of Master Rank Alloy gear. Your defensive stats will significantly improve instantly, allowing you to withstand more hits from Beotodus and Banbaro (the second new monster you hunt). Alternatively, you can craft two sets of Vespoid armor by killing and carving insects and digging through bone piles.
If you don’t need to upgrade before slaying Beotodus, you’ll still want to upgrade a piece or two with parts you carve during the hunt.
2. Keep forging armor
Each piece of armor you forge — helm, mail, braces, coil, and greaves — has an overall defensive stat. Master Rank armor starts at 114 and goes up from there. Obviously it’s a big jump from basic Bone armor to Elder Dragon armor. But stats go up gradually, with armor right next to each other in the forge menu being separated by as little as two points. What I’m trying to say is that overall defense shouldn’t always be your main focal point. The higher the better, but you also want to approach hunts on a case-by-case basis when it comes to your build.
If you press R3 in the forge menu, you can sort armor by defense, skills, resistance, slot level, and sets (the default). Resistance and skills are what we’re interested in here. If you’re having a tough time with Viper Tobi-Kadachi, forge armor with poison resistance skills. If Glavenus is wrecking you, make sure your fire resistance is in the positive. For Legiana and Shrieking Legiana, the windproof skill is a great plus. Meanwhile, Bleeding Resistance will help you out against Nargacuga.
Those are just a few examples. The point is: Sometimes lower-rated armor is better for a particular hunt. If you have time, forge armor that’s good for all five resistances (fire, water, thunder, ice, and dragon), and then forge armor with specific skill sets as needed. Also remember that you can use Armor Spheres earned from completing bounties and quests to upgrade the overall defensive stats of your armor. You’ll soon start nabbing Heavy Armor Spheres to help negate the high upgrade costs.
3. Don’t forget your Decorations
Each piece of armor has up to three Decoration slots for jewels. Your weapon has slots, too. Every quest we completed in Iceborne rewarded us with at least one jewel. Fitting your armors with jewels provides extra skills for your hunter. World veterans probably already know this, but please remember to check your jewels between hunts.
There are three jewel sizes. The larger the jewel, the better its effects are when equipped. Some pieces of armor only fit a small jewel, while other, better pieces of armor have the capacity to fit more valuable jewels. Like armor, Decorations can be set on a case by case basis. If you change armor, you’ll have to add jewels to it. So develop some builds, complementing your armor’s innate strengths with the right Decorations.
Another aspect of jewels that’s important is your weapon choice. Some jewels go better with certain weapons. If your play style and weapon routinely take you airborne, the Flight Jewel increases aerial attacks. If your weapon has thunder elemental damage built-in, the Bolt Jewel increases the power of those attacks.
While you will get a lot of jewels just by completing quests, you can craft more jewels by visiting Elder Melder in Seliana or Astera. If you tracked Tempered monsters in World and obtained the Streamstone, you can even reroll your jewels to get new random jewels from the Elder Melder.
