[DISCLAIMER: This guide is intended to be as bare bones as possible in order to give general advice to any new Rainbow Six: Siege players. In addition to this article being opinionated, I would like to also state that zero-sum strats in this game do not exist and the tell of a good Siege player is their decision making and adaptation to the changing battlefield.]     Chalet is a triple-level map (consisting of three floors) found only in Ranked play. The current architecture of the map gives a significant advantage to the attackers due to the vertical destruction available to attackers found on all four bomb sites.   Tachanka is a one speed, three armour, defensive operator. The operator's ability is his deployable LMG; a stationary machine gun that can be placed anywhere by the player. The machine gun is equipped with what is essentially the same as Black Beard’s ‘rifle shield’. This protects the operator’s head from bullets and other projectiles until the shield's damage threshold is met and the shield breaks. Similar to Amaru, Tachanka is a very situational operator. Tachanka’s immoble nature makes the operator's viability very low as he can only be used for very specific, niche, tasks which may or may not even occur in the match. That being said, the operator is so commonly neglected that, actually bringing him, can provide defenders with a unique advantage. I will be explaining in detail how Tachanka can be effectively used on all maps currently in the ranked map pool.   If you are to be in accordance with the current meta, Tachanka’s loadout should be as follows: PRIMARY: 9X19-SMG (Attachments to player preference) SECONDARY: PMM (Attachments to player preference) UTILITY: Deployable shield.   DEFENDING: [1F] KITCHEN(A) - TROPHY(B) The primary route of attack on this bomb site will be by attackers establishing vertical angles over and under Kitchen(A)-Trophy(B) by gaining control over 2F Master Bedroom, 2F Office, and BSMNT Car Garage. Tachanka should place his LMG turret inside of dining, facing through the Kitchen(A) and into Trophy(B). This position will protect the player from attackers inside of the basement as the flooring of dining cannot be destroyed. Tachanka will also be able to eliminate any attackers attempting to vault through the Trophy(B) window or drop into Kitchen(A) through the hatch. However, defenders positioned inside of Dining should always be aware of attackers destroying the ceiling of Dining from the second floor Office as these surfaces are soft. LMG PLACEMENT: [1F] KITCHEN(A) - TROPHY(B)

DEFENDING: [1F] GAMING(A) - BAR(B) The primary route of attack on this bomb site will be by the attacking team entering and clearing the building from 2F Master Bedroom on the west side of the building all the way to the east of the building, concluding their roam clear after establishing control inside of the Library. Tachanka should place his LMG turret inside of Bar(B) so that the LMG is facing towards the Front Door inside of Fireplace. This will prevent attackers from flanking the Bar(B) bomb site through the often overlooked Fireplace Room. Tachanka should be highly cautious of attackers using a hard breach projectile operator like Ace or Hibanna to breach the reinforced walls between Gaming(A) and Bar(B) as this will leave your position vulnerable to attackers looking into the Gaming(A) bomb site from the outside Helipad positions. LMG PLACEMENT: [1F] GAMING(A) - BAR(B)

DEFENDING: [2F] OFFICE(A) - MASTER BEDROOM(B) The primary route of attack on this bomb site will essentially just be the inverse of Gaming-Bar. Entering through the Library and moving from east to west inside of the building is a much safer route to the second floor bomb sites as attackers can be easily shot if caught trying to repel directly onto the Master Bedroom balcony or climb the Front Yard ladder to the second floor. Tachanka should place his LMG turret inside of the double doorway leading from the second floor Master Bedroom(B) to the exterior terrace. This will help defenders keep the initiative over the primary access points that will be used by attackers to access the bomb site. Tachanka should be cautious of attackers like Buck, Ash, and Zofia going underneath the bomb site and breaching the flooring under the placement of your LMG turret. It is common practice for defenders to send roamers to the first floor, inside of Kitchen and Trophy, to help prevent attackers from establishing vertical control. LMG PLACEMENT: [2F] OFFICE(A) - MASTER BEDROOM(B)

DEFENDING: [BSMNT] WINE(A) - SNOWMOBILE(B) The primary route of attack on this bomb site will be by the attacking team breaching the reinforced exterior wall leading from the buildings southern exterior into Snowmobile(B). Tachanka should place his LMG turret inside of Snowmobile(B) so that the weapon is facing towards the main wall separating Snowmobile(B) from the outside. This will provide defenders with a great amount of control over the attacking teams primary route after the main wall has been breached. However, Tachanka should be cautious of attackers flanking the position of the LMG turret through Blue Stairs or by breaching the ceiling of the Snowmobile(B) bomb site. When playing Tachanka, or any operator for that matter, it is always good practice to contemplate all the different ways in which your enemy can counter your playstyle. In the case of Tachanka, the best way to counter the operator is by out maneuvering him as Tachanka’s LMG turret placement is semi-permanent and take’s a huge amount of time and exposure to reposition the turret.
